RCCL kids club - can 6 year old stay with his 3/5 year old friends we're cruising w?

My son has sailed RCCL several times but turned 6 yesterday. We just booked a cruise with another family that has an almost 4 and almost 6 year old (by cruise time in Nov). I know they have offered to bump him up before when he was 5 (into 6-8 group) but if he wants to stay with his 2 friends , will they let him stay in the 3-5 group? This is such a treat to see his friends that he would rather hang with them and play than be with the bigger kids. I think that the 4 year old will want his big brother around rather than the older one breaking off. Anyone experienced this situation?

They might--it depends how many kids are onboard...

I wouldn't say a word about it beforehand...let them work it out on their own! The 6 yo will be totally bored with the younger kids....

Take them to the appropriate age group, and see how it goes---it's not like they'll be apart for the entire week! You might find that they're exercising their independence in this situation! And that's a GOOD thing!
