We took this tour several years ago and enjoyed it - the ruins were marvelous, the lunch was decent (nice to try local foods) and safe (we had no ill effects), the trip was nice, including a hand cranked large raft across a small river. You can climb up a 11 story ruin - my husband made it all the way up, I stopped part way up. There was an alternate staircase with railings for going down.

We did this in May off Carnival Legend. As Moonfire says, very good tour. We made it to the top of the temple. View was awsome. But surprising on the amount of development and communications towers visible. We ate lunch at Hodes in San Ignacio. Chicken-rice-beans ( pretty decent--good selection of hot sauces to spike it up a notch). Belikan beer and ice cream available for pruchase. Outdoor seating under an arbor type structure. Music. Other tour buses were there and not all were Carnival pax. Be advised it's a long day trip from port. If you want to do anything else in Belize, you may not have time.

Oh are you bringing the mermaids?
