Back 2 Back ??????

We did a B2B on the Jade last January. Barcelona was the port for both embarkations and debarkations. We had the same cabin for both legs. The night before the first cruise ended we went down to the front desk and were issued new key cards. We were already on their list as B2B passengers as they asked several times during the first cruise for folks staying on to come down to front desk to get "on the list". I don't believe we were told we had to disembark that morning, but the very first thing in the morning we DID because we had planned a self excursion for that day. We simply swiped our old key cards as we left the ship. No customs or anything like that. We just kept walking over the bridge to the nearest Metro station. When we returned that afternoon, about 3:30 pm, most of the new folks had already boarded so no lines. We simply swiped our new key cards, grabbed our welcome aboard champagne, and headed to our cabin. (BTW: I was taking a shower during the lifeboat drill which we did not have to attend the second time!) Our bill just carried over from the first leg to the 2nd and we settled everything up at the end of our 21 days. This was good because we had some left-over OBC from leg one which we could use for leg 2!

now that is a question i should have asked. not that i mind doing the muster drill. but when we reported on the 2nd leg...our names were not on the list. (i assume because we did it on the first leg).

ehh...it didn't matter. in fact, we made some friends during the drill who met met throughout the rest of the cruise.

We showed up for the 2nd Muster Drill as well, and confused the team leaders at the muster station because our names weren't on the list. No one had told us that we didn't have to do the Muster drill again.

Hello..We are sailing the Pearl--Vancouver, B.C. to LA, then LA to Miami next month. Our TA called NCL to inquire at to the procedure in LA. She was told we should check with our room steward (Concierge), because we do have the same room for the next leg. Then we will have to disembark, go thru Customs - because we are coming from a "foreign" port, wait until everyone is off, then go back on the ship. We are meeting up with relatives for the day---does this mean we get back on the ship THEN disembark again? Anyone ever done this? It wasn't clear to me.

your steps, as i read it (and i as i have experienced)

- arrive LA

- wait for all pax to disembark (while you wait in designated location on ship.)

- you will be escorted to Customs, with "IN Transit" written as your destination on the Customs form

- after passing through Customs you can reboard the ship almost immediately.

NOTE: you will be the last ones to disembark the ship from the 1st leg to "clear the manifest".

....at some point you'll get your new keycards (or you may not even need to be reissued new keycards). this is one area of variability from everyone's responses.

i would say, complete the Customs and reboarding steps (to make sure you are now considered on your 2nd leg.) then leave the ship by swiping out with your keycard to enjoy your day with your friends in LA.

work closely with your Concierge and involve them in everything. it also helps to let the reception desk know (remind them throughout the first leg, that you are B2B.)

Thanks, Zone...That really clears it up for me!!

well it will help you through the basic principles of:

- the ship HAS to be emptied out

- B2B pax HAVE to pass through Customs (at least in this case...a USA port, from foreign ports. i have ZERO B2B in Europe or SA.)

- you get to reboard the ship IMMEDIATELY

now as you have read, some of us had slight nuances in how this was accomplished...but still done with those concepts in mind.

ALSO!!! I FORGOT TO ADD, you should be getting a letter sent to your cabin about the designated meeting place for B2B pax after the 1st leg. AND...in the Freestyle Daily there is a "general reminder" (on ours it was ON THE FRONT in the "regular" info that my read like this:

IN-TRANSIT GUESTS: Staying on for one more cruise? Please bring your cruise ticket to Reception Desk for registration before 8pm tonight.

(again, this was on our Sky cruise...i'm just making you aware of wherelse you may find a "reminder".)
