molly213 Posted August 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2009 Can you suggest someplace where we can snorkle from shore? My husband and I enjoyed snorkling at Princess Cay for the first time last year but neither of us are strong swimmers and need the vest. We prefer to stay as close to the pier as possible. I was hoping to go to Eden Rock until I read that you have to swim 100 yards out to see fish. That is too far for us. We will be going to Chaakanab and Princess Cay later in the trip so if there isn't any place on Grand Cayman that will work for us I'd love some other suggestions as well. We aren't laying on the beach type of people, nondrinkers and only shop for short periods. Any suggestions for snorkling spots or other activities? rekfla Posted August 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2009 Try Stingray Sailing for $45 per person. You get time with the sting rays and then about 45 minutes to snorkel. They have vests and you can see lots only 25-50 feet off the back of the catamaran.

bookbabe Posted August 17, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 17, 2009 Unfortunately my husband doesn't want to swim with the stingrays. The majority of snorkel excursions will include a stop at Stingray City, so your choice is going to be more limited. I think there's one that goes to a couple of other snorkel stops by catamaran, but I can't remember who runs it. You can shore snorkel from Cemetary Beach (a further section of Seven Mile Beach) if you have your own equipment or rent it from Eden Rock before you head there. There are no facilities there, and the snorkeling isn't as good as Eden Rock, but it's probably the best you will easily be able to get to. Other possible activities could include: - Boatswain's Beach (Turtle Farm) - dolphin swim/encounters - island tour - kayaking in the mangroves - botanical gardens - Pedro St. James historic site - butterfly farm - pirate cruise - skateboard park Anything sound interesting?
