maddog59 Posted August 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2009 I know Carnival has annouced that it reserves the right to start charging a fuel surcharge at $70 per barrel, etc. Does anyone know if they have started doing so or plan to do so in the near future? It may help me make choose my cruise line for an Oct cruise. Thanks
falkcor Posted August 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2009 nope, not yet. there's been no announcement since about a month or two ago, when they said that due to the state of the economy, they have no plans in the immediate future to re-instate it. it's not a good time to be adding fees to anything, so at least in the interim, it shouldn't be a consideration. if / when they do re-instate it, i doubt carnival will go out and be the first, more likely they'd follow if other lines bring it back. :)
pe4all Posted August 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2009 As of today, oil was around $66 per barrel. It had gone up to the $70 mark a short time ago, and Carnival did not re-institute the fuel surcharge.
hoss23 Posted August 18, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2009 Carnival had previously stated that they would only consider fuel surcharges if oil had been over $ 70.00 for 30 consecutive days. This has not come close to happening.
