Turkish visas ?

If one arrives in Turkey on a cruise ship and is leaving from Istanbul by plane one needs a visa for which the cruiseline charges a lot more than the cost of visa. Is it possible to buy visa in a Turkish port before disembarking ? Kusadasi maybe ? Any thoughts ?

Search is fully functional and has been for at least the last 3-4 months (I search often -- daily if not more often than that -- and can only think of one day in recent months when I had trouble with it).

 

I really wish that the Mods would make this a sticky, especially now that we have the separate subforums. The question REALLY gets asked a lot, as you can see from this search I just did:
