cryce Posted August 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2009 Just wondering if we can expect to have a mini-fridge in our room that we can use to store my son's medication. Are mini-fridges stocked with items you have to pay for? What if you just want to use it empty? We are in a balcony stateroom, if that makes a difference. cb at sea Posted August 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2009 There will be a "dorm-style" fridge... Ask the attendant to remove the items (sodas, candy, etc...) as they are the ones responsible for the items and charging you for it. To make it get colder, leave the cabinet door (that covers the fridge) open a crack for more air circulation...it helps it to get colder!
Gocruzin Posted August 31, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2009 Just back from the Mariner OTS today. We did have a fridge in the cabin but I am not sure it would be cold enough for medication, then again I did not have a thermometer. I personally would be ok with putting insulin in it but not antibiotics or anything else that is not as stable. Our cabin steward would not empty the fridge for us(first time in 7 cruises). We were allowed to empty it ourselves and put the contents into a cabinet. When we boarded last Sunday I did see a cabin steward carrying a fridge that said "medicine only" on the outside of it and we were on the 8th deck nowhere near the infirmary. Hope this helps.
