Cabanas on Grand Turk

While folks on the boards are posting that the cabanas have been rebuilt on Grand Turk and are available (some have already enjoyed the new cabanas at Margaritaville)...HAL does not have them listed as an option for the fall cruises. Has anyone heard from HAL about their availability? I talked to a HAL excursion rep yesterday and she said they were not an option. (We're on the Westerdam Oct. 18 sailing).

The 'cabanas' that everyone talks about are on Half Moon Cay, not Grand Turk, most of the lounges, etc off the bow of the boat don't need to be reserved and are free to use. This is the port with Margaritaville and other excursions

We used the cabanas at margaritaville prior to the hurricane. My guess is if people have been able to use the new ones they just haven't made it back into the HAL shore excursion system yet for booking. If they are available but don't show up you will probably be able to reserve them once you get on board.

I am well aware of the cabanas at HMC and reserve one each time we cruise (purple one this trip!). Photos of the new cabanas at Grand Turk have been posted and they look wonderful; and are replacing the ones destroyed by the hurricane. Unlike the ones on HMC, they have a door that locks so you can leave your things safely while enjoying the pool or lunch. Guess we'll just have to wait until we board.

Thanks for your postings.

When I was at GT in 2008 -- there were no cabanas(pre hurricane) - thus my comment referencing HMC -- no offense intended.

go to grandturkcc.com

click on the shore Excursions tab to see.

The cabanas were there ever since the port opened except after they were destroyed in the hurricane. They are not on the beach, they are around the pool. You may have not noticed them if you were looking where you would expect to see them on the beach.

When were at margaritaville on our Oct 08 Noordam cruise, it was swamped with all the 20 somethings off the Carnival ship parked next to us. You couldn't get near the pool area. As we walked by, one guy was being escorted away by security for being drunk and disorderly. We were not impressed. Happy Sailing!

Yes they show that they are there. However, it also says on the url you gave, "Coming Soon." Does not mention the coming soon on the page once you click on the link, so I am hoping the pool cabanas may be there in February when we get there. http://grandturkcc.com/ShoreExcursions/SwimmingPoolCabanas.aspx These may be the old cabanas before the hurricane(s)?

While in Grand Turk, we enjoyed the peace and serenity of Pillory Beach at the Bohio Dive Resort, just a short $7 cab ride away from Margaritaville and the crowds there. :) The snorkeling off the beach was pretty good here too.
