jax Posted August 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2009 Does Cunard still do a daily advertised, alcoholic concoction to be enjoyed by all for just a wee bit of dinero? had what the bartending staff called an "Islay Mist" back in '98. Would love to have again or know their secret ingredients. But I could just keep sampling their wares for investigative purposes...hmmm.
Rare Host Sharon Posted August 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2009 There was always a cocktail of the day advertised in the paper, but I don't believe it was any cheaper than the normal tariff.
Jim Avery Posted August 28, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2009 I also was going to say that the "wee bit of dinero" has crept up steadily over the years and are now pretty much consistent with restaurant/bar prices at home town. Getting up there.
southwestie Posted August 28, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 28, 2009 There was always a cocktail of the day advertised in the paper, but I don't believe it was any cheaper than the normal tariff. pb82 Posted August 28, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 28, 2009 In July, page 5 of each Daily Programme (the Treat Yourself To ... page) described the Cocktail of the Day and the Martini of the Day, but no prices.
capnpugwash Posted August 29, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2009 Trust me, there is no discount on price. P & O do that but not Cunard.
southwestie Posted August 29, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 29, 2009 Trust me, there is no discount on price. P & O do that but not Cunard. They must have stopped this around the time of the QE2 tandem crossings, they always gave a discount to puch them, shame, it was always nice to try at least one of them, but , there prices for what you get or forget about after a few are quite good, theres always the martine mixology for a few Martinis , thats a good deal lol
jax Posted August 29, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted August 29, 2009 Alas what I am remembering is a QE2 voyage of 27 days back in '98. A nice length of time to savor fantastic cocktails at then reduced prices.
DKNYC Posted August 30, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2009 I was on QE2 in 1997 and 1998 and sampled the daily cocktail on many days. As I recall they were a little less money than other cocktails. Denise
cruiserking Posted August 30, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2009 Gimmick or not I rather enjoy the Drink of the Day. That's how we discovered BBC's. Counting the days to sip a refreshing BBC in the Golden Lion Pub. ;) Jonathan

jax Posted August 30, 2009 Author #13 Share Posted August 30, 2009 I also appreciate your posting them. Have referred back to them several times to get info. But nothing beats the pics of Sabastian in his jaunty QM2 attire. Oh how handsome he is! My female feline, Daisy Mae, is admiring as well.
Alycidon Posted August 30, 2009 #14 Share Posted August 30, 2009 theres always the martine mixology Hey. You leave Martine alone! Seriously, the Martini Mixology is fine up to a point. I can't remember the middle two - Appassionata and Ginger Cosmo rings a bell - but they were revolting. Obviously the dry martini was as good as it can be without Tanqueray Number Ten, and the chocolate one was erm "interesting" - but not unpleasant. Would have been much better with four dry martinis, each with a different gin!
