Taxis are metered. Depends where your hotel is.

We stayed at the Marriott Circular Quay and it was a super easy walk to the OPT. It is not the cheapest hotel but as they say - location, location, location. Great location for grabbing a ferry, bus or train or to walk to some of the great sites around the circular quay. We didn't use a taxi once.
