We disembark Marina in the morning in Papeete and have a full day to fill.I have looked at options for the day, bearing in mind we have a lot of luggage. At the moment our favourite is to drop luggage in Airport in a secure lock up and hire a car.Has anyone any experience with the lock up,transfers from port to airport and car hire?

Thank you, Jane.

I would also try looking for this info & posting this question on the ports of call section of CC as well as on TripAdvisor.

I know that that is where I found the cab driver for transfer to airport that was highly recommended and worked out well but I no longer have his name.

There is a storage service at the airport but I don't recall the hours. You might want to try an excursion versus hiring a taxi. Some tour operators will take the luggage so you won't have to stow the baggage but if you use a shared excursion they might not. We rented a car and drove the island.

Am not sure of the fees but perhaps an email to the above yahoo address might help with that. As I recall, the storage room has an attendant and is locked during lunch. Charges were per bag and if I remember correctly, there were different charges according to the size of the bag.

There is an Avis agency not far from the port as well as at the airport. It's called Pacificar for some reason. Sandrine and Sandra are very helpful. Address: reservations@avispacificar.pf

Hope this help. Happy cruising in paradise!
