  1. Speaking of animal encounters - not sure if this made the news elsewhere - a 55yo surfer who was wing surfing at Mona Vale Beach this morning was having a great session speeding across the water when a whale suddenly leaped out of the water and slammed into him. The surfer’s leg rope got tangled with the whale and he was dragged under until luckily the leg rope snapped and he was able to swim back up to the surface. He was also very lucky that it was a juvenile whale with no barnacles. A passerby happened to be filming him so the moment of impact was caught on camera and the surfer had a GoPro on his board as well Thankfully surfer & whale are ok and the surfer has no hesitation in returning to the ocean & his wing surfing.
  2. Not sure I should laugh at this but that last line….Hope the chipmunk stayed on the floor and didn’t try to climb up you to escape
  3. Hi Coral. Absolutely there are big flocks of cockatiels - but you need to travel a fair distance to see them - outback NSW such as Broken Hill, Central West Queensland such as Winton. the Northern Territory and inland properties in Western Australian. Every year there is amazing footage posted of hundreds and hundreds Cockatiels flocking to the water’s edge in these places to drink. You can also see them in pairs in in areas of Queensland. How wonderful that Polly found you and had such a long life with you.
  4. Currently following a couple who are on the Quantum transpacific from Hawaii to Brisbane. It’s one that has always appealed but 10 sea days is too much & I always seem to develop a cold/cough on day 8 of a cruise.
  5. You had me really confused for a minute. I am thinking there no big fiddle in Sydney and I don’t recognise that building…🇦🇺 Had to Google it & also remembered DS said there is a Sydney, Nova Scotia. Hope you have a nice day there today 🇨🇦
  6. Bus 333 that goes to Bondi Beach starts its journey at Circular Quay.
  7. I am way behind on your excellent postings here but popping in to say yes please to solo travel reports. Two places everyone seems to be visiting this year - Croatia & Amsterdam. But only seen photos so an in depth report on Lisbon or Amsterdam from you would be a worthy read.
  8. Speaking of books - finished the 3rd book in the Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman “the bullet that missed”. Really enjoyed it. The 4th book in the series has been recently released. Will join the library reserve queue for it.
  9. Thanks for the recommendation. Read his book - The Lost City of Z - which was an excellent read. Planned to read this one but never got around to it. Will watch the movie.
  10. Warm Sunday in Sydney with a nice sea breeze Took dad out for lunch at Warriewood Beach. DH had a swim and said the water temp was good. Dad’s garden. Been a very dry winter & Spring so far.
  11. Idea for the future - us Sydneysiders love our coffee. My dad has me hooked on Chai Latte though. I took the photo for my dad.
  12. Not lately though. I think you are all still traumatised by that one Huntsman photo and Dad hasn’t had any visits from one of late… Although I did find this this guy sunning himself near my car on Friday afternoon. look at those claws - slightly blurry photo as I didn’t want to startle him and he start running at me. The iguana that Azeena posted from Aruba this week are much more attractive…
  13. More photos of the Grand from yesterday morning. In the afternoon, took the ferry from Circular Quay to Milsons Point to have a close up look at her & the various balcony cabins. They had a beautiful day for the sailaway.
