1. I would be unhappy about this arrangement. Will the credit applied on board be refundable, or will you have to spend it on something else during the cruise?

The shore excursion credit was already one of the worst perks (in my opinion), and this makes it even less attractive. :(

We had this last June. In our case, we booked only 2 excursions via NCL and one on our own. Paid up,front and then a received an OBC for the total credit.

That as under the AllInclusive promo that they had last year.

    We know how things change.

  2. We are bringing 8 bottles on our cruise (no UBP). If you buy at Publix, you get 10% off when you buy 8 bottles.

It works out to 1 bottle for each dinner, plus an extra for the GLOW party night :P

We are using pre-purchased OBC for our corkage fees.

The Publix we used near Brickell had amazing prices on Cliquot champagne also. Well worth the corkage fee.

  3. I received the same message

Here is an email I received for a booking made in the 16 of March

Thank you for choosing Norwegian Cruise Line for your future vacation.

The Haven suite you have booked includes all 4 free promotions. You will not be charge the 18 % (percent) on the meals and beverage package included in your promotion.

    Best regards,

  4. What dinner did you lose? I just booked and got UBP for two; 3 SPD for 2; 250 internet minutes and 1 $50 shore credit (per port?)

We will each get a voucher for our Platinum dinner as well.

It was four dinners until the 15th.I had originally booked in February. I changed our cruise and had to re-book,lost one dinner- now 3, and have the platinum as well. I don't really care as I doubt that we will use all of them .

It is 50.00 per port. Last year

we booked some excursions ahead of time we were refunded the difference without even asking. It was on our daily statement by day 2.

  5. do a mock booking, when you get to the page where you would choose a promotion there is a no frills option with no promo and a lower price. Or call NCL

I just did three mock bookings for a minsuite, an two separte balcony cabins.

It offers the "no frills" option in the list of options..but the price is the same !!

  6. Only some of the FFPH hold 4. We travel with teens( usually) so got the FFPH with the connecting BD. As our kids were under 18, they were afforded full Haven access.

For 4 - I would JUMP on the Aft PH. HUGE balcony and the two bathrooms.

The Haven PH have no separate areas-its like a big hotel room.

We have done about 6 of the 2 BR suites in the Haven/ Courtyard - they are nice, but a teeny balcony.

You would save money over the 2 BR suite and have the amazing balcony with the aft- and an extra full BR.

We do not mind being away from the Haven.

  7. Value is subjective.

NCL's suite experience provides me with the value I appreciate.

    To each his own.

We do love the suite experience on NCL and find it a value for our $$. We are taking an anniversary cruise this fall- paying the same for an H7 with separate living room and bedroom and the 4 promos than we would on a 5 day RCL in an owners suite on a much smaller , older ship. Booked both, did the math. Can't beat the Haven experience for the mid-range price. Also applies when we sail with our 3 teens. Royal has priced 2 be family suites out of our range.

That being said- I truly wish that there were Howl at the Moon on all the ships! We have a very, very good time at these gatherings.

  8.
No. I checked both the Australian website and the Australian Guest Ticket Contract, and it's called service charge, not hotel service charge.
YOU are good!!

Im working on a research paper right now- would you like a job? :D
  9. The H7 is actually a really good room. It is a lot bigger (420 sq ft) than an H5 (328 sq ft) with a separate living room. You get full access to the Haven (just need to go up a few floors).

We are sailing on the Escape in May and picked a H7 over an H5 just because of the additional space and the fact that the two separate rooms makes it feel more like a suite.

Study the floorplans and youtube videos of both rooms carefully before you give up your H7.

Yes yes yes! Much larger with the separate living room. Excellent location for privacy. I would never take an H5 over an H7.

  10. Anyone else have any success / failure stories on using the GoPro on the ropes course? I'll have my head mount and hopeful I can get that cool video

    On Getaway:

In August 2014 the chest mount was allowed on the ropes. Not allowed in June of 2015. This is, of course, our own experience.

  11. Nassau- we finally did something there that we enjoyed very, very much. It may be called botanic gardens or,some such. It has marching flamingos, you an feed birds, beautiful setting- we all loved it , ages 13 thru 50. Very peaceful, yet a really good excursion. Would not hesitate to do,it again.

Howl at the Moon and Burn the floor are my favorites . Closed down Howl,all,3 nights. Burn the floor is,a great performance. We also, were lucky to,have incredible, comedy. One was Phil Palisoul..terrific.

Excuse all the commas, I have a broken hand and not typing so well..

Least favorite thing ....I'm not thrilled with the set up,of thrnGarden Cafe.

We have had only perfect vacations on Getawy and will be on her in the fall, for,Western Caribbean.

    Have fun!

  12. I'm assuming you are on Getaway

The catamaran to St. John's is awesome. We had an amazing time.

Tortola, visit the Baths in Virgin Gorda.,there is a review done last June by User Annmeat which has good tips.

    There is an 80s night.

I don't know if the glow party stays on the same night or changes with the itinerary, but there are dailies posted here and you can look them up. There are some very recent ones.

I would dine at Le Bistro or Ocean Blue. We ar doing that on our anniversary on Getaway.also, ordered the decoration package for the cabin as a kitschy surprise

  13.

Had to go to Howl at the Moon fairly early to get a table for the first show. I think the second show later on in the week was not nearly as full.

    /QUOTE]

Howl at the Moon isn't open every night?

Nope. The group performs 3 times during the cruises we were on. The other nights the comedians do 3 shows, alrpternating performers. The venue is shared.

Watch your dailies so you can make sure to catch the fun.

Howl at the Moon is one of the highlights of the Getaway for us!

  14. The last sea day there is a 50% off but not off all gift shop stuff. There are shirts, totes, hats, etc. there are some real cute things- my kids got shirts and Miami totes by Lebo...

They also have a 10 dollar sale of shirts ( usually not ship- specific shirts, generic NCL shirts) and other assorted shawls, bags, watches tossed in.

As well they have the daily chaos deals outside the shops. Jewelry or watches or " pashminas".

    What ship are you sailing?

  15. To put some minds at ease, the $15 dollar limit is very high. The only things I've seen over that were several wines (and as a previous poster mentioned, there are 100+ wines to choose from), the top-notch champagne, and a few top-notch bourbons/cognacs (maybe the one "best" tequila too). Everything else you can think of is under $15...cocktails (without the souvenir glass), shots, spirits, beer...so don't really worry about that.

Just make sure to check your account daily. I was ordering pear martinis from the Haven bar ( last summer, they were $1 or so,more than the $11 buck, limit then) and all was well- a small charge added. But when ordering at Tropicana room and several other bars they didn't quite understand and I had several $13 charges each evening.

    I love those pear martinis!

  16. Curious, is this listed on dailies? Is it lobster or crab legs? or mostly shrimp!

    Thanks[/quote

There is neither lobster or crab legs. As of my last in October only Haven got a lobster..and its tiny...but tasty.

MDR and buffets had other seafood dishes.shrimp, pasta with lobster chunks.

They will list it on the dailies .

  17. they may not advise you that this forward cabin does NOT have a reg balcony!!! it is like an enclosed metal room with a small picture window!!!! also no separate dining or bedroom-> learned the hard way!!!

That is the handicap access FFP . Both on 13 have the hull balcony.,

    This is good warning- thanks!

  18. You have full Haven priveleges. We had an H7 with adjoining balcony last summer. It was much better than the 2 BR Haven suites. Our kids stayed in the balocny and , as they are minors, received full Haven /suite perks.

We liked nine because it was very private, is the LARGEST of the H7 and so close to the waterfront, etc.

    Love it.

    have one booked again.

  19. I've stayed in forward suites a few times and they really are great. Not sure if this matters to you but keep in mind that once the ship is underway it can get quite windy out on the balcony.

    Enjoy your cruise,

    Tracy

On Getaway/ Breakaway the balcony is not facing forward. Same position as any standard cabin. Ours adjoined our kids balcony stateroom
