  1. Your time within Schengen is kept in the border control system and if your final exit is after the 90 days you can expect a large fine and possibly being banned from re entry for 3 years or longer.
  2. Yes, ask your pharmacist. I believe the common OTC motion sickness pills in the UK are Dramamine and Stugeron. Both are in the antihistamine family and drowsiness is a side effect in both. If you will embark your cruise in the US, I'd suggest going to a US pharmacy and getting some Meclizine tablets (brand name Bonine) it is less drowsy if taken as recommended- every night at bedtime, starting the night before embarkation). Of course check with the pharmacist to see if this would be right for you.
  3. Best to ask this on the NCL forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/64-norwegian-cruise-line/ In the meantime, since you are Canadian, will you have the Egypt visa before embarkation? It is my understanding that cruise passengers are given a transit ticket good only for ship excursions. Any other entry requires a visa, and Canadians are not eligible for evisas after October 1. After Oct 1, you have to apply to the Egypt embassy in Ottawa. It could be that the person you spoke with was unaware of this new restriction for Canadians.
  4. I'd check again with Manulife. I'm pretty sure they cover both cancellation and interruption, provided you are fully vaccinated.
  5. Hmmm. My FP told me it is unavailable in Canada, so best of luck with that. She also said she only ever prescribed it in the past as an absolute last resort due to its contraindications for many common medical conditions and the frequent occurrence of some nasty side effects. If you will be sailing from a US port, consider getting some Bonine (generic name Meclizine) tablets. They are available OTC at any pharmacy in the US. Walmart generic version is cheap. Unlike Gravol, it only needs to be taken once a day at bed time ( take it the day before embarkation and daily every day of the cruise) and is less likely to cause drowsiness
  6. The replies you've gotten are contradictory. But no one here, unless another Cypriot chimes in, knows the facts. Your best bet is to speak with the nearest Greek embassy.
  7. Which port? How long is the port stop? If it's le Havre, it's a 2 1/2 hrs drive each way. And there is no direct train. IMO this is too far from the ship to do on your own. If the ship isn't offering an excursion there, that should tell you something.
  8. I thought your name only appeared on the door plate when it sensed your medallion within X feet of the door.
  9. In addition to the previous items mentioned, I bring assorted sizes of bandaid and antibacterial ointment, antidiarrhea pills, antinausea pills, and more sunscreen than I think I will need.
  10. Because saying 'that ship has cruised' just sounds wrong.
  11. Can I ask why you are staying SOOO far from Venice? That hotel is the opposite direction from Venice. The only shuttle service I see on their website is for the airport.
  12. I thought one of the reasons for no trays was sanitation.
  13. The only thing that can be predicted with surety is that the sea will be wet. Anything else is guess work.
  14. "Familiarity breeds contempt"? Perhaps you need to switch up to the premium or luxury lines. Like any other relationship when the lustre has faded, it may be time to move on to something new.
  15. No, they have a reason for it. Drunkenness is no excuse for bad behavior.
  16. Likely the one that has sustained the most damage.
  17. For just a night or 2, there are 2 Premier Inn hotels within a block of St Pancras. The PI Kings Cross and the PI St Pancras . Premier Inns is a well established British chain, not dissimilar to Holiday Inns. And the closest Underground station (Kings Cross) is on the Picadilly line, which you can take from Heathrow. Note the spelling. There is no e in St Pancras
  18. You think that grabbing another person, and a service person at that, is acceptable? That its only a problem if they cause physical harm? If some stranger grabbed me, regardless of their sobriety or lack thereof, there would most definitely be consequences. Intoxication is no excuse for inappropriate behavior.
  19. Scootaround is the other company that rents ecvs, wheelchairs and other medical equipment for cruisers. You may find this of use: https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles/how-to-rent-a-scooter-or-wheelchair-for-your-cruise
  20. Since when are USD the "currency standard"? False assumption on your part. Costa is a European owned and operated cruise line and will be sailing out of a European port. It's pretty safe to assume the on board expenses will be charged in Euros. However, all on board expenses will be charged to your cruise account. You can't make any on board purchases with either cash or credit card. The account will be paid off using the registered credit card at the end of the cruise.
  21. How far away is the cruise? Next week, next month? Are you worried about impact from the current hurricane in the Atlantic?
  22. OK. That is not at all what I was expecting from your first post. So you will be taking a fall repositioning cruise, then. Which is about as far removed from a booze cruise as you can get. And while the kids clubs will be open, I would expect there to be very, very few other children aboard a cruise of that length, and at that time of year. And of course, autumn is still hurricane season, so there is no guarantee that your crossing would be a smooth one. If you are interested in a Caribbean cruise, have you considered doing a fly and cruise package instead?
  23. Since this is a first cruise, you have young children, and have many questions, you might check out the Family Cruises forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/28-family-cruises/ That may allay some of your child safety concerns. If you want to avoid a booze cruise then try to go on one that is 1 week or longer. Short cruises attract the partyers. Otherwise, NCL OR RCCL will have the informality and family friendly atmosphere you are looking for, and their larger ships will have the amusement park extras that some find appealing. I'm not familiar with the UK or European lines. There are different cabin options you can look at. Balcony, Ocean View, Family cabins, and Inside. You can also look at a separate cabin for the grandparents, or a connecting one. The latter (especially if you won't have a balcony) would be good for the grownups when the kids are sleeping or napping.
  24. It may depend on the country, but I don't think there's a law against having more than one travel medical policy. There are laws against filing claims for the same thing on more than one policy. Unless you filed on one policy, exhausted the maximum, then claimed the remaining outstanding balance on the other.
