  1. This is our first premier cruise and I have a question. (I’m sure I’ll have more though!). We usually do the steakhouse on the first night to take advantage of the free bottle of wine. But I also see there is a premier cocktail party on the first night. Does anyone know what time the party is so we can do both? What else do I need to know so I don’t miss anything? Thanks!

  2. Wow an 8 day cruise on the Sunshine in a suite for $1200. That's great

How much were you paying for an interior? And how much did you pay to get the grand suite?

We are paying just over $600 per person.

  3. We were originally booked in a interior cabin but we were upped to the grand suite today. Over all the cruise is costing us a TOTAL of $1200 for two of us. I'm so excited for more room and the balcony. This is our first vacation without kids in 13 years....I plan on spending a lot of time on that balcony enjoying some peace and quiet.

  4. I thought that St Kitts might be a good day to just relax and have fun. I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a map that lists both of these places. Is it doable to do both? We're traveling with children who are well seasoned travelers. Thanks!

  5. We are going to take a 4 hour water tour while in St Maarten in November. Once our water tour is done we have the option of being dropped off in Marigot instead of port. We are in port from 9-6 so time shouldn't be a problem. Is there lots of interesting things to see in Marigot? Would our time be better spent in another area (Philipsburg for example)?

Open for suggestions! Good bars...good restaurants...interesting shops etc

  6. In that price range, your best bet is to try to pick up a used GoPro along with a flat lens and a red filter on Ebay. (Without the flat lens there will be too much distortion, and without the red fllter (or a light, which would add to your cost) everything will look blue. What are you trying to achieve with the camera?

I'm just trying to take a few pictures of my kids in the water without worrying about dropping my phone and ruining it. We already have a GoPro but I'm totally confused by it.

  7. I suggest you visit your local Best Buy or similar store so that you can hold the camera and try it out. There was one camera I saw on Amazon that sounded and looked great, but I decided to look at it in person locally, and it just felt wrong in my hands. Once you see and try out a camera that you like, you can either buy it in the store or online.

That's the bad part about living in the country. The only store within 30-45 miles is Kmart. Next time I head out to the city for shopping I will make a note to stop by one of those stores :) thanks!

  8. "that map" was a teaser to get you to go look for yourself .......

but I'll bet I can satisfy YOU 100%

there is a Margaritaville VERY VERY close

Not interested in margaritaville. We don't like chain restaurants/bars. I have been looking myself but I enjoy and welcome the views and recommendations of others.

  9. did you know you can look at Grand Cayman with Google Earth?

That map doesn't tell me a whole lot. Just looks like a bunch of buildings...LOL...I was looking for more specifics...restaurants (chains or local restaurants?), duty free shopping?, souvenir shops?

  10. Shopping is there...and I'm sure some restaurants....

The bus system is great....so don't feel you need to hang for hours near the ship.....plenty of things to do, as long as you set your watch to ship's time and leave yourself an hour to get back!

we have a private 4-5 hour excursion planned. Then thought we would get a bite to eat and maybe do some shopping close to the ship. I'm glad to hear the bus system is great...I'll have to look into that further! Thanks!

  11. Trying to make some plans for our upcoming cruise to Ocho Rios. I definitely know that we would like to go to see some "falls". I'm having a hard time deciding which one is better. We don't like LARGE crowds, we are a family of 5 (ranging from 42-6 but my kids are all very adventurous). It might come down to which would work out better with some of the other things we would like to do (snorkeling or tubing). We are using "Paul's Jamaica Tours" to take us around....

  12. Glad to see everyone is enjoying it at Blue Kay as much as we did.

(It sounds like the flounder is a resident there since it was there when we went too :p)

We are heading there in a few weeks :D

I'm fine tuning my plans now. I was wondering if you recommend paying in Peso's or if Dollars work out alright. Just trying to make things as easy as possible...thanks!

  13. PHEW....finally read thru the whole thread. Lots of great information (I even took some notes).

We are only doing one NCL Excursion - we will be doing that in Belize (I'm nervous about tendering). My son is learning about the Mayan Ruins in school so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to see them in person.

We are getting a private driver in Roatan and probably in Cozumel. I think in Costa Maya we might check out Blue Kay :)

Great review...thanks for the info...and I look forward to trying to find that magic matching ;)
