  1. Thanks kwitt703! I do have another question. I have been reading that if you are in a cove balcony under the galley, then it may be loud. There is only 1 room available on my cruise that isn't under the galley. If it's taken before I can book, are there any suggestions about where ,in general, under the galley is the quietest?

  2. I have a some questions about the cove balconies. My mom and I are planning on sailing on the Dream in September.

    1. What do you like about them and what do you dislike?

    2. I saw a picture of one on Carnival ' s website. Is the balcony actually open or is it covered with a window? I couldn't tell.

    Thanks for any input.

  3. You should go. Today is 21 days since the lady had potential contact with the Ebola patient. She has no symptoms so she didn't catch it. I'm sure carnival will do a thorough decontamination of the ship as well. Like they do after an outbreak of norovirus. Enjoy your trip.

  4. I have been to Nassau once. I didn't like the snorkeling excursion my husband and I went on. It was crowded and boring. Not much to see. When we were done, we had a couple of hours left in port and wanted to shop a little on the way back to the ship. All of the stores were closed.

I would go back and try something new and shop earlier though.

  5. It's called the Chikungunya virus. If you search in the St. Maarten forum, you will read a lot about it. I have read the articles about it being in Florida, but only that people came to Florida who contracted the virus in the Caribbean. The virus is expected to spread in the US starting sometime in the summer, according to the article. Just google Chikungunya virus and Florida and I'm sure you will find it. The CDC believes that a certain type of mosquito will bite the people already infected and then spread it to other people. It's not life threatening, but supposedly very painful for a week or two. I went to St. Maarten in April, and didn't get bitten.

Go on your cruise and wear insect repellent. You should be fine. :)

  6. My friend is going on the Disney Dream in a couple of weeks. I've never been on Disney. She will be traveling with her toddler who always asks for chocolate milk at 5 am. Does the Dream have mini fridges in the staterooms? Would they keep milk cold? I know the ones on Royal Caribbean don't get very cold, and I would expect milk would spoil in them.

We didn't see any living creatures cave tubing or zip lining. However, it is dark in the caves, so if there were tarantulas, you couldn't see them.

  8. People who are legal residents of the four US Virgin Islands ARE all American. The eco-tour folks also do a kayak and hike to Hassel Island.

My apologies. I meant to say mainland US. They did not have the traditional caribbean accents. Thank you for the correction. I did know that but it slipped my mind at the time.

  9. Taxi driver told me today that he could take me to Budget for $15. Budget charges $9.99 to pick you up in the shuttle. We didn't wait long for the shuttle. Maybe 5 minutes.

Budget doesn't charge anything for a shuttle to the port. Just on the return trip.

  10. That's very strange. I was on the ship but didn't hear the announcement. I sleep with earplugs and was definitely asleep at 3 in the morning. I wouldn't think they would give someone blood before it's tested. You have to go through a lot of paper work and tests before you get blood at a hospital. I'm curious to know what that was about as well.

  11. I just read another post that said budget asked them for some sort of discount card when they booked with the Code that starts with a Y. Has anyone else ever had this happen? Also I used the code that started with a U. Does anyone know where that discount comes from? This will not be good if I have to pay full price for my rental cars.

  12. They do have restrooms for changing clothes and you can rent a locker to store your stuff. I wore my swimsuit with some gym shorts for tubing then changed into shorts and tshirt for ziplining. I wore Teva closed toe sandals for both.

  13. My husband and I are from Dallas as well. We usually try to arrive in Galveston by 11 or 11:30. Never bought fttf so I don't know if its worth it. We always got on the ship by 12:30 or so.

You can do your own thing in key west. Ernest Hemingway's house is neat with lots of cats inside and outside the home. I think it's about $13 to tour it.

If you can't swim I would suggest doing a group snorkeling excursion. They give you life vests, but you do have to move around in the water by "swimming" on top of the water. You would need to know how to kick and move your arms to follow the guide.

You can do your own thing in the Bahamas too but you should research what you want to do before you go.

  14. Is there snakes in water when tubing

It's too dark to tell, but the water is pretty cold. I would think that snakes couldn't survive long in that water because of the temperature. I didn't see any snakes or hear anyone say anything about snakes.

  15. So this $25 fee is only if you don't return your towels? Can you get towels one day to be used the next day or do you have to return them the same day? It will be my first time sailing with RC. On Carnival they had them in the room and when you used them, they took the used ones and replaced them with new ones.
