  1. Pretty much everyone on this board is Carnival loyal. Disney is a premier line geared for children, that is why so expense. Holland, same thing, premier cruise line. Princess is mid range line. Carnival is geared to young adults that want to let loose and let go but they have a wonderful kids program and very reasonably priced. You have to try one to see.

  2. Same as above, depends what airport your flying to. One is 1 1/2 to 2 hours to Galveston and one is about 45 minutes. Need to count in traffic and construction. I used the cruise lines shuttle and there are different costs for each airport. I was also told no departing flight until 2 pm because it takes a while to get back from Galveston.

  3. I have heard the main money made by cruise lines is alcohol. Gambling is another. The cost of cabin is considered minor money. The crew, lowest ranking, cabin stewards, waiters, etc. don't make much but room and board is included and more then they make from the country they are from.

  4. I forgot to mention my rental scooter stayed in the handicapped shower stall to charge at night. It wouldn't fit in the room, even after we removed the bedside and coffee tables. Yes this was a handicapped room!

  5. I rented my motorized scooter for specialneedsatsea.com. for a 7 day cruise it was $250. Carnival has nothing to do with scooter/wheel chair rentals with the exception of notifying them you will have one. You need to have booked a handicapped room otherwise the scooter will not fit in it to be recharged at night. You can't leave them in hallways or open areas to charge. The crew will take them away. Also if you are in a tender port can't take the scooter. In a way it helped while on ship, was no help in port.

  6. You are obviously a young 60. On a TA there will not be hardly any kids so that really isn't a consideration. Celebrity is a cut above when comparing cruise lines but more expensive. The only way to find out is if you have time do a 4 or 5 day Carnival cruise and see what you think. Carnival is ok but RCCL, Celebrity and Princess are my favorites.

  7. I have sailed to Aladka five times and only once experienced rough seas, to the point that they closed and locked all doors leading to the outside decks. It wouldn't have mattered where my cabin was located.

  8. I know this is a Carnival board. I have sailed pretty much every major cruise line. Since you have kids, Carnival caters to kids and younger adults but as a previous poster mentioned Liberty just went through a major refurb and added alot for the kids to do. You can Google the new Liberty and it shows and tells you what they have done and added. For me it would have to be the Liberty.

  9. According to my TA as long as you purchased insurance the cruise line is responsible for getting you to the next port. I have never heard of them allowing to board from a tugboat. I do know they will helicopter you off the ship if you are critically ill.
