  1. The Passport app can be used at many airports but only one cruise port, Port Everglades. Does anyone know at the airports do I use it only for flying out of the USA, such as Mexico, Canada, and Europe?

  2. I have a question would you be stopping in Victoria? If you are the whale watching is much better there, if not then add on the glacier. Do not bother with the gold mine/panning, I did it and it was a waste of time and money. If you stop at Victoria do whale watching there with BC Whale Watching.

I looked up your cruise and you do stop at Victoria. Think about that option.

  3. Russ Lomas,

You said everything I was getting ready to type. Most people when booking a March cruise forget it is spring break all month long. I never book a cruise in March.

As soon as cruise lines posts their new schedules I book. You can always get price reductions. You sure can't get money back when prices go up. You can always cancel if you find a better cruise on a different line.

  4. I would use it if there was no cost incurred. My IPhone is purposely turned off while I am onboard a ship. I am an avid Roll Call user and have made several very good friends after meeting on the Roll Call, going to the Meet and Greets/Mingles. I have traveled with a few of them again on another cruise and keep in touch with all of them by email.

Onboard it could be a resource, especially since I usually try to run the Slot Pull for most of my cruises and am always needing to get in touch with the members that have agreed to help.

  5. You can book your flight through Carnival, tack it on your cruise reservation, the program is called Fly2Fun. There are 2 choices, book and pay upfront, same price you see online or book and pay when final payment is due. The price you book at doesn't change but if you see the price go down you can call them and they will book at lower price. My TA did this for a September cruise. She said it is a good way to lock in today"s price but look for a cheaper price up to final payment.

  6. Steve,

Thanks for replying so fast. I think anything historical. I was looking online and noticed Greyline has a tour and so does Adventure Tours. I think the historic city and city house tour might be what we would like but I also think a plantation tour option would be interesting too.

I have done Greyline and most of the time the guide is not born and raised in the city we are touring so they aren't very informative.

I am just getting started creating our Google Spreadsheet for this cruise and want so amazing options to offer the members of the roll call. When I saw your post I thought this is wonderful, maybe I can get great information to share with the members.

  7. Chucktownsteve,

I am way ahead of schedule but I am taking a cruise from Baltimore down the eastern seaboard. It will stop in Charleston on January 4, 2018 from 7 am to 4 pm. Several members have shown an interest in a Historic Charleston Tour, not a walking or carriage ride tour. I really wish there was a cruise with an over night in Charleston, 8 hours is not enough time.

Would you have any suggestions of tour companies and tours that we can do?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks, Candie

  8. Whale watching is a must. I have been to Alaska 5 times and have done almost all tours, White Pass RR, salmon bake, panning for gold, dog mushing. I love the whale watching, no Orca is going to eat you. The RR was fantastic. Panning, salmon bake was not worth the effort or money. I am going for the 6th time in May and have booked whales again but in Victoria. Dog mushing was some kids favorite.

  9. Have to open an Onboard Account. I used a debit card one time, never again, there was a huge hold on the card and took several days after the cruise for it to be removed.

I pay and book for everything before the cruise that way no surprises on the last day, no trouble booking an excursion. I wouldn't wait until you get to port if there is something special you want to do.

Several things I want to remind you of, even though you have bought a beverage package, most packages have a drink price maximum, like $15 a drink with grats added to it and believe it or not, many speciality drinks can run $18 to $20 each.

Next, don't order room service, NCL charges $7.95 for room service.

Don't use the ATMs, big service charges.

You can charge gambling to your room by using the slot machine but there are charges for doing that.

Pretty much cruise lines charge for everything.

Remember to bring cash for tips for porters, etc.

    Hope this helps.

BTW, O"Sheehan"s is a great place to eat, pub food, open 24 hours, great prime rib, breakfast, chicken pot pie and burgers.

  10. I use a walker or cane and always ask for a wheelchair. I always think of my safety first.

There are many rude cruisers that are not handicapped who always have something to say about handicapped passengers getting a little extra time to board. Unfortunately there are a lot of disabled cruisers that are rude and mean. While waiting for an excursion bus, standing in line with my walker, a woman on a scooter, going full speed came up the side of the line hit 3 people with the scooter, ran over 2 peoples toes to get to the front of the line to get on the bus. Passengers in scooters also think they can get on a ship's elevator before everyone else, NO they need to wait their turn, just like everyone else.

    I would request wheelchair assistance.

  11. No airline, Southwest, JetBlue, American, United, Delta, all of them have stopped paying commissions to cruise lines and travel agents/agencies. Most TAs lose money booking air because of their time used to book and no commission. My best friend is a TA and I love her. Please remember that unlike directly booking with a cruise line, a TA takes time off, Saturday and Sunday and holidays. I found a sale that was only 48 hours, ending on Sunday at midnight and I couldn't get ahold of my TA so I booked it myself and then transferred the booking to the TA. I spend a lot of time checking all cruise line websites, sign up for deals from all cruise lines and online travel agencies before I call my TA to book. It is a lot of work but worth it when you get that great deal.

My TA watches new sales to see if prices have decreased, cruise lines don't do that.

It is also what you are looking for, I want great ports and good prices, it depends on what is important to you.

  12. I just did this cruise, some of the same ports. Cartagena was magnificent, did a old and new city with the fort tour. It was wonderful. Nothing in Puerto Quetzal, do Antigua. The port has barbed wire all around it and you are not allowed to walk around it. Corinth same thing, nothing in port, see Leon. We did a private tour in Puerto Vallarta, we found it on Trip Advisor, #1 city tour. One thing to remember, as all locals told us, there are only two seasons in Central America, HOT And DRY OR HOT And WET. Our temperatures were in the high 90s with humidity in the 90s. It was terrible. Several passengers suffered from heat exhaustion.

  13. TravelGuard is my go to because it covers out of the country and my flights. I broke my hip and needed surgery, 5 cruises were cancelled, two of which were paid and the other three with a$100 balance. It covered all 5.

  14. About 15 to 20 years ago I saw and met Jeff Dunham, Ventriloquist. Some get their start on cruise ships. Most entertainers are booked through their talent agencies. All cruise line dancers and singers go through months of training before getting on the ship.

  15. I'm sorry but this is a ridiculous question. I know the price of one staple will set you back thousands of dollars. The cruise line personnel always ask if I have my tags and I do. I print two for each bag and put them in the holders I bought on Amazon, 8 for $8 and I have been on the same two holders for two years. I put them in my purse till I get to port. By the time the porter gets a tag, you hold up the line filling out your tag making everyone in line behind you furious, you will have to tip the porter at least $5. Price of a staple snd reusable tag holders and tipping the porter $5 every time, do what you want, you will anyway. Oh and my tag holders fit Carnival, Celebrity, Princess, NCL and Royal.

  16. I love Princess, they have the most cruises to Alaska. I find Glacier Bay is a must see. I am going on my 6th Alaska cruise in May. I have gone in May, June, August and September. I love Skagway and I did the White Pass Railroad which was wonderful. I did a helicopter to a glacier and was positive I was going to die. My favorite was whale watching in Juneau, it was amazing.
