  1. I've been platinum for quite awhile, along with my husband. He,however, passed away a few months ago, so I am taking a "newbie" with me, to introduce her to the world of cruising. I'm thinking that only I will get the Platinum Perks, such as the brunch drink, and the Casino $25 credit, etc. Is that the case?
  2. Thank you all. We are coming from Richmond Va, so prefer not to change trains. We are no longer youngsters, ranging from 65 to 80, so doubtful we will attempt walking to port. But it sounds like taxi rates will be reasonable if we are downtown. Now, I will work on hotels that are reasonable in that downtown area
  3. We are considering taking the Amtrak to Baltimore for our cruise in the spring. The price is super and getting there with no one having to drive is very appealing, especially with the price of gas these days. My questions concern, which station should we aim for - the one at BWI or Penn Station (which I think is north of the Harbor). However, if the price of shuttles/taxis (to the hotel, then to the port and then back to train station upon return, is particularly high, maybe we'll just drive. There are 4 of us, so I'm guessing with luggage, we will need 2 taxis if we go that route. I think Penn station would be better price from the port to train upon return but any suggestions on hotels in close vicinity of station for our trip PRIOR to cruise would be appreciated. I don't want to spend a fortune on the hotel (rather use my money on the ship). We won't have a car, so relatively close eating would be helpful. I just haven't found any guidance so far on the price of shuttles, taxis or ubers. Thanks for any suggestions.
  4. I'm sailing on the Sunshine in November - and the Legend next May 2023. Have either or both of these ships received the new blue Hull yet? I love the look of them, and just interested to know if it will be on the ships.
  5. I see the price of $8.50 per day on the site. But is that the price for booking prior to boarding? If I wait until onboard, will the price be higher?

  7. Csn anyone tell me what the price is for the social internet plan if we wait and get it onboard?
  8. Just checking. Am i correct that we don't have to carry specific insurance fue to covid in order to sail?
  9. I just booked my November cruise a couple weeks ago. When I go to set up my dining times, my choices are: 8:45 PM and Your Time. Does that mean the 6:00 timeslot is no longer available (full)?
  10. do you have to buy those passes for Junkanoo ahead of time? I'm taking a newbie (very first cruise) that loves the ocean, so I want her to have the opportunity to be in it. I've read that we can walk there from the cruise ship, is that truly the case?
  11. For our Baltimore cruise, we are contemplating taking Amtrak to Baltimore (which is apparently right at BWI), staying in a hotel overnight and then heading to the port. When we return from the cruise, it will of course be straight from ship to Amtrak. Are there hotels near the airport/amtrak that would have a shuttle to the port the next day? We are figuring we will get a taxi or uber from the train station to the hotel. or should we plan to stay closer to the port and maybe just catch a taxi to the port? Any suggestions would be appreciated. We don't need fancy, just clean and safe will do. and hopefully close enough to someplace to eat dinner, since we won't have a car.
  12. Can my roommate bring a little 5" fan to run at night to help her sleep?
  13. Thanks for the suggestions. I booked mid ship, deck 1, ocean view. And she's goung to get the patch and i always taje a bottle of bonine, "just in case". It's also 2nd week of november, so most of hurricane issues are gone.
  14. When I cruise in the fall this year, I'm taking a newbie. She's a little concerned about possible seasick issues. I've told her she can certainly take bonine, or get the patch or the bracelet. Which is the best location on the ship to have the least motion issues? I can't remember if it's front or back or middle of the ship. We'll be in an Ocean View room, so it will be on one of the bottom two decks. Getting ready to book in the next few days - so any input would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Thank you for your advice. I did end up calling Carnival and explained about the death of my husband and the fact that a few others decided to join us since we hope to take his ashes to the Caribbean. This resulted in our "4" becoming a "3" - as one that was planning on going with us decided to take her husband because of the situation. But we did go from one room to three - so maybe that was the reason - but I was able to cancel the 4th person and was not charged for that person at all. There is a possibility that they may move us if a 4 person room is needed but the system did at least allow the representative to make the change to 3.
  16. Thanks... I just found the place to send them an email. So, I guess they will get the email and do whatever is needed. I just don't remember ever doing that before. But we have plenty of time, so we'll figure it out.
  17. For some reason, I just can't remember how to connect multiple rooms so they are all scheduled for the same dining table. Or maybe I could do it on an old site, but they have made many changes in the site and can't find a way to do it.
  18. We booked a cabin for 4 (sisters and a friend) with one of them TBD. Since booking it, my husband (who was NOT going to go) has passed away a couple weeks ago. Because we will be scattering his ashes at sea (he loved, loved, loved cruising in the Caribbean) the TBD that was contemplating going, has decided to take her husband and they got a separate room. The cruise is not until next May. I'm guessing I can't "cancel" that 4th TBD person and we will be paying her share of the cruise. But if I understand it correctly, the Tax and Port Charge for her will be refunded when we get there as a "no show". We are actually going to be a little more comfortable with 3 of us in the room instead of 4 - so likely will not fill that TBD spot. Do I need to tell them ahead that there will only be 3 of us? Or just pay it in full and then hopefully get at least a little refund for tax/port.
