  1. But club 1st sitting is usually the more popular, so switching to 2nd should not present a problem, even if freedom is full.
  2. You are right MB, but that's not stopping lots of posters who have not yet sailed from detailing their concerns about the possibility of long queues. I think they need to reserve judgement until they have some experience of the situation, and only then pontificate on what P & O need to do to correct the problem, but then only if they have problems.
  3. I had one of the vegetarian dishes in the MDR on Iona last cruise, a very tasty pie. I am not unduly concerned about always having meat, just as long as the food is appetising.
  4. On both our Iona cruises I suspect the target demographic was missed by about 25 years. I guess the target passenger profile was 40-45, but on both our Canary cruises it was pushing 65, with very many older than our 79 yrs. But after the first night in which the MDR was too busy, it settled down and the queues were small or non existent. So it must be staff experience rather than more closely hitting the target demographic.
  5. I hope they reported this to housekeeping, it shouldn't happen but things wont improve if the management dont know about these problems.
  6. I only recently discovered this fact, my son tells me our youngest granddaughter always uses subtitles. I must admit that on a smart phone it is probably the best way to view most video data.
  7. It might well be a useful aid for my wife, even if only to enable her to better support herself as she sits on the edge of the bed. I would probably remove it when she needs to stand in order to transfer to her wheelchair.
  8. The cabins are great, but my wife found the bed height was a bit too high for her to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed with her feet reaching the floor. Which is rather important for her being severely right sided disabled, and having balance issues.
  9. As I get more deaf with age, I long to hear a crisp clean BBC accent from the actors on TV programmes. The mutterings, whisperings, background music and the unintelligible accents on some TV programmes is very tiresome, and trying to keep up with the action, and read subtitles at the same time rather takes the enjoyment out of many programmes.
  10. Wowzz, are you Elite on Princess,if so do you still get the one off mini bar set up if you are Proncess plus?
  11. Staysure did say they would accept a claim against the existing policy, subject to loss adjusters approval, if we needed to cancel the next cruise, although their e-mail did say a refund of the deposit, so dont know what their reaction would have been when they realised that final payment had been made.
  12. I had to pack folded tissues into one of the opening dividers to stop it rattling on Iona in Feb, and it did work very well. This on deck 12 aft.
  13. That was not the point I was making far from it, I was indicating that most ladies look very smart in the MDRs, and could wear many of their outfits on formal night and not look out of place. Whereas we men need at least a jacket and tie on formal nights.
  14. I think that food quality on each ship varies with the head chef. I assume that the menus are the same on each ship, and the food will be sourced from the same provision merchants for all Southampton cruises, although fresh produce may vary for the fly cruise holidays, and the world cruises and S American cruises.
  15. Why dont you consider that the crew cast are professionals, AFAIK the headliners troups on each ship are a professional group of singers and dancers put together to perform for an agreed contract period, and the West End Show casts on Royal Caribbean are the same. Of course if you are still fixated on The Jersey Boys group, these are a well known Tribute act that perform all over Europe and on cruise ships.
  16. Yes we had our annual policy cancelled after we disclosed a new medical condition. Staysure did not cancel immediately but refused to cover anything associated with the new condition, effectively meaning if we wanted to go on our Feb cruise we had to look elsewhere. Fortunately we were able to get one trip insurance from Free Spirit for this cruise and Staysure cancelled the policy and refunded the balance from the date we disclosed the new condition.
  17. I think you ladies could get away with most things you wear on smart casual nights for formal wear, but for men an additional jacket and tie is the minimum requirement.
  18. I think Grease had been on Indepedence for a number of years, we saw it in 2019 and I think it started in 2016.
  19. That's not what the extension to July 2024 means, that is the annual AGM announcement that OBC will be available for cruises up to July 2024, it does not mean you can apply for it now, despite the fact that some seem to slip though the net.
  20. Its included in your cruise fare, and there is no booking. But you need to be in fairly early for the show when it's a popular artist.
  21. Top tier P&O loyalty tier also get priority embarcation and disembarcation, which is also very beneficial. Some worthwhile free wi fi would also be welcome, along with daily free drinks a la Royal Caribbean. No interest in upgrades and, with shareholder and booking OBC the discount is of no real benefit.
  22. I quite enjoy the higher tier luncheons, and much prefer to have my OBC cover my on board spend, rather than have a meagre 10% saving.
  23. It is an option but only in the areas of the ship that are not designated formal wear only, this can vary between ships, which might be one reason for it not be in the T&Cs. However in brochures of old there were pages of what to expect on your cruise, and wearing formal dress in some venues would have been highlighted in here. However it does now say that essential information is now on line, and dress code is one of the items.
  24. If this is a Carnival decision that all brands must offer this upgrade bidding, then just maybe this is P&O management making the best of this system. Possibly they think they will have higher revenues through normal sales rather than this gimmick.
  25. In February on Iona there was no bar soap, only hand and body wash dispensers at the wash basin and shower, plus shampoo dispensers in the shower.
