  1. Getaaway is one ship on which I would sail and not need to be in a suite.

We have 3 teens and none of the 5 of us are cruise ship pool people. The kids love the slides and ropes and ping pong and O'sheehans..

We have cruised on her in suites, and have booked again in a suite but only because the price was right.

We used the Haven only for breakfast, a few dinners...and that is it. Our kids found their own afternoon treats, although the butler does drop some off.

If I were just with hubbie and there were not deals I would take a regular cabin and save many dollars.

The food in the other restaurants is good and we are low maintenance .

  2. It seems a bit shady. We re-booked one cruise where the price per first and second stayed the same but the kids at half-off saved us a whopping $50 per kid.

The cost of cruisers #3-8 doubled as soon as the promo came in to play.

On a different booking we got a smoking deal -same ship, same category suite , same month but a year later, waaaay cheaper. So I can't really complain.

  3. Hello, Capatain ORGANIZED!

The only suggestion that I personally have...

We try not to eat at the heavy duty restaurants if we have had an excursion where we get a lot of sun and maybe do a bit of champagne- swilling on the way back!

We Did Modernos after a sun and alcohol day on St Thoams and were too pooped to eat as much as we had planned on. One kid had a single sausage ( she wasn't drinking but had been snorkeling and sunning and was beat)

I could barely keep alert enough to try the salad bar.

We did go back later in the week.

    I admire your attitude!

    Have a great trip.

  4. Sorry, punkincc- I totally misunderstood your point.

And I STILL cannot get a darned screen shot.!!!

I read the statement from NCL but , as one who has had her cruise cancelled by NCL when she called in her final payment several years ago....that was a big Ooops. They managed to get us our suite back, but I didn't even notice the cruise was deleted-didn't use NCL.com much back then but saw a credit for the big deposit in my next month's AMEX bill.sorry off topic!

I didnt BElieve their post in this thread.

    Have a dandy evening!

  5. Well, see the response from NCL made here today that Cagneys is no longer available to book pre cruise. How can you possibly be booking it online?? Surely they know what they are talking about!

And IF, it varies by ship and date, surely they could have imparted this information in their statement?

Because I just Did book it again online

Why would I make that up?

Some Gem cruisers say it is also available for them.

If I can figure out a screen shot on this old Ipad I will take one and show you!

WHY WHY WHY are- only negative postings things believable? You yourself don't trust NCL yet you BELEIVE their post?.

I booked Cagney's not 5 minutes before I came on to Cc tonight-I haven't been on for a few daysmaybe.

    Couldn't understand the Cagney's thing.

As I had just booked a reservation for 6 people at 7pm using my UDP.

    Wow.

    Just wow.

  6. That has nothing to do with this thread, which asked why it couldn't be booked. NCL responded to that. Now you are b****ing that they didn't respond to some unrelated rumor from another thread in this thread. If I were NCL, I'd never give this place a second of my time with the way people around here act.

    LRGPIZZA for president! Or Queen!

    people- enough with the rumors!

Cagney's is available on our cruise to book Online and , if not with UDP the price is still the same as before.

Ocean Blue has DECREASED to 29 dollars instead of 39.

Is this only in my private Idaho? Seriously--why can the Getaway still book it but on mysterious other threads it is no longer UDP?

I have my confirmations, the cost is zero and I am happy that Ocean Blue is more affordable now.

We need to stick with what we actually know.

And the Cagney's menu was updated a couple years ago..that post seems dated.

  7. We had a ,ahem, rockstar PCC, too. At least in his mind.

Was trying to book a third cruise reservation, couldn't reach him on phone or email or even his special cell phone. Hubble ended up just booking it online.

When I called to make some changes to another reservation, he yelled at me.a real dressing down.

That didn't go well for me.

At present there are5 different PCCS that email me. Don't use any of them. When I see a price adjustment or a need info, I call the general line, get a confirmation, or call/email the pre-concierge or email the socialmedia email.

I have found the PCC system as useless as it is on RCCL. And I don't particularly need a personal relationship or rapppport with a particular person in order to have an enjoyable cruise experience. You' will have a great cruise or you wont-the PCC has nothing to do with it!

Info that you receive on CC is probably more accurate.

  8. Our first NCL cruise. We are in a foward facing suite. Does the concierge call or contact you prior to the cruise to help make reservations for all spa, shore excursions, specialty restaurants and shows. Any formal nights on the Breakaway? Thanks

You will LOVE LOVE LOVE this suite! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

  9. Our first NCL cruise. We are in a foward facing suite. Does the concierge call or contact you prior to the cruise to help make reservations for all spa, shore excursions, specialty restaurants and shows. Any formal nights on the Breakaway? Thanks

You will receive a letter from the pre-concierge with some choices of pillows, coffee, etc. you can make your own reservations on line for shows and meals or wait until you board. Your pre-concierge letter will also include a phone number to contact with special requests. A note can be put in your "file" for spa reservations, but those will then be handled on board. You have to book your own excursions and pay for them pre-cruise or wait to do it on board via the concierge. If you want to purchase spa passes they will also make a note of that and you should receive them on board.

There are two recommended or hinted-at "for all" nights, but there is no formal night per-se as on other cruise lines.

A note about excursions- on our last two cruises we witnessed as Haven guests tried to make reservations via the concierge for popular trips ( one was the champagne catamaran on St Thomas) and they were sold out . The concierge could do nothing to help them except to offer an alternate excursion.

Our luck has been 50/50 with requests for our suites ie pillows, coffee, but nothing that really matters. How big a deal is it if I have to ask the butler for certain pillows once on board ? Not at all.

  10. You may want to book Legally Blonde and Burn the Floor. There is no cost, you will be guaranteed a seat and you can cancel if you want.

The Welcome Aboard Show and the Comedy showcase that is held in the theatre do not take reservations.

Still?.. About Levity reservations in the Headliners venue. I made reservations via the pre-concierge but they do not seem to be available on line any, ore.

We are traveling June 13 on Getaway.

  11. Thank you-let me rephrase it- we drink, but for celebrations (like may 7 I'm sure we will for our anniversary). My kids don't drink soda-so when I was going to buy the package it was for all of us- we couldn't just buy it for the adults :(

Is it different once we board, can we just buy it for the adults?

Once on board just go to any bar and buy it just for those in the family who will use it.

Have an amazing vacation- your enthusiasm is contagious! And ignore all the garbage going around this week....it's always something!

Happy Easter to you and your oodles of kidlettes"!!

  12. We are cruising on the Getaway this May and sailed the Getaway last October. I have started to make our reservations and noticed that some of the entertainment is no longer available to reserve. For example last October we were able to reserve the comedy shows and for our upcoming cruise under my explore and plan tab it is only showing five entertainment choices for the duration of the cruise. I am aware that they will be renovating the Illusionarium show this May, but from what I have read it will be open again for our sailing. Is anyone else experiencing this or does anyone know the reason why NCL is offering less reservation options prior to boarding? Hopefully the comedy shows and Grammy experience will still be offered. TIA

    Hmmmmmm

I am cruising in June and I can make Illusionarium reservations. Where is it posted that the show is ending in May?

We can book anything except comedy. Will do so on board, I suppose.

But don't understand why I can book the magic show.....

  13. They have some pretty ones on board.

We always bring our own. The kids pick them up during other family vacations or during competitions for debate/forensics or TSA ( Technology Students Assoc, not THAT TSA! )

The kids and DH and I always wear different ones. Easy to grab the bunch and hang them in the cabin. I don't mind wearing one, and with the kids it is much easier than playing the "where is my card? game.

Daughter used to bring 3 or 4 to change with her outfits.... Blinged out, casual, Harry Potter.

If you buy on board you will not be able to purchase until the shoppes open. The are closed whilst in port.

  14. Hello -

Does anyone know if NCL provides life vests for toddlers? (18mo - less than 30lbs). When I called NCL my booking agent said they do, but I just want to be 100% sure that what they provide is for a toddler less than 30lbs. If not, I will happily bring our own. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

They do, they HAVE to and you would not be allowed to use your own.

  16. Just as I thought, incapable to carry on a conversation. This is a discussion forum. I'm all about discussing my opinions and ideas. If the best you can do is click on smiley faces and be nasty to people I guess, really, I just pity you.

Ummmmm...how exactly is THIS statement not MORE nasty than a smiley face and a giggle?

My regards to Thurston the Third.

    Ps

Perhaps your CC name is very telling of why you have the attitude that you do towards the employees of NCL? Guess they are just a bunch of Gilligans.

  17. OP

We have been on Getaway twice. Never a problem getting off the ship. We were dumbstruck! Our previous cruise had been on Freedoom of the Seas and it was HORRIBLE! we were in a suite and had the "priority" debarkation at the ports.
    What a crock.

You will be pleasantly surprised. Our children were also amazed....
At the end of the cruise we had a really late flight, so the concierge took us down as late as possible. No wait then, either.

    Have fun!
  18. Which ship? On Breakaway class The bathroom in the 2nd room is the same as a balcony cabin bathroom. But before I spent the extra$$ I would have him look at YouTube videos of the suite and the second bedroom. It is very cave -like and dark.

Although the actual bedroom is a tight fit, they can spread out in the living room area if need be. It depends on how much togetherness you are comfortable with as well.

I wouldn't spend 500 pp for a 2 br. If I were the one NOT getting the master bedroom. It is too much like being a houseguest..

  19. If you are close enough with these couples to travel with them I must surmise that you are friends.

As you are traveling with your spouse, I guess you are adults.

Dear lord, folks- what kind of friends

    1. Give a dang how and what you tip

2 pay attention to said tips

    3. Have you afraid of appearing cheap?

I don't understand why you even asked this. If your "friends" are that critical, they ain't friends.

And I agree with the "usually" and "look"

Seriously- are you REALLY gonna sit around and compare your cabin statements?

    Ugh.

  20. Our teens loved a port day on the ship. Nassau is not our thing...we got off the ship for about an hour and a a half.

We were on Getaway and the ship was a blast! The kids and hubby did the slides and ropes course multiple times with no wait. There was a real party atmosphere on the pool deck, and it seems that all the grouches were on an excursion. Music, dancing and , as Triptolemus said- lots of foo foo drinks!

The only crowded place was the Haven pool, and there is just not the fun- feeling in the Haven area as on the main decks of the ship.

For our last day of the cruise it was awesome. Plan to do the same thing this next trip.
