A lot of violence is alcohol driven , those drink packages encourage heavy drinking,
I like a drink but I hate a drunk
Cheers
I’m pretty sure Carnival don’t have drink packages in Australia.

I also use the shipmate app, very handy with a countdown and a ship tracker. I love following ships my friends or family are on. My parents just went on a Mediterranean cruise and I kept them up to date daily with where they were stopping next lol

I loved Akaroa, beautiful port. Walked around the town, enjoyed crepes at one of the cafes. Then took a Harley tour up into the mountains with spectacular views.

I use Australia Post travel insurance regularly for most of our overseas trips as they use the same underwriter as RACV and rate well with Canstar.
Are they any good? You only find out when you do a claim touch wood I haven’t needed to do that yet.
You can purchase over the counter but the website offers a cruise option which you need when doing a cruise.

So true, about not knowing if they are any good until you have to make a claim.
I used 1Cover for my first overseas trip to Thailand. I had to claim hospital and ambulance after getting sick and ending up in hospital for three days. They were fantastic and easy to deal with, and I only had to pay my $100 excess.
I have used them ever since and have them for my upcoming South Pacific cruise...hopefully I don’t need them :)

I just used their calculator and to hold 1 large case and 2 carry ons for the whole day is $42. That’s good for me, last time I paid $64 for a few hours at the train station.

Aaah, I wish I could do that, but even getting this cruise has been a stretch. This will be our(hubby and I) first P&O cruise, having both only ever been on RCL and Princess. We were spoiled on our first cruise in a balcony cabin on Radiance :) But we have a pretty good idea of what we are in for, have done a lot of research before booking. We just want to be on a ship lol
Also this is our first holiday in 17 years with just us two. We are both very happy about that ;)
Lots to learn and plan YAY

Something to look forward to at least. I know a few who have not got any in the pipeline and cannot book anything until their circumstances can improve.
Absolutely, this will keep me going, and I’m a planner, so plenty to do. I have waited much longer before and that was my first cruise, totally worth it of course.
It’s always nice to have something planned, something to focus on and I feel for those who don’t. For the last two years I was one of them...until today YIPEE lol

Yup, but it’s all locked in now, just an agonising 6 month wait o_O

I hope you enjoy your cruise.
I plan on it, it’s been 2 years too long since my last cruise.

Thanks MicCanberra, water is key to getting value from the package ;) I will be taking full advantage.
Ericabag, I have this price held until tomorrow, so am not waiting any longer, it’s already gone up to $2099.
Thanks again everyone for your good advice and sorry for highjacking this thread, this cruise isn’t exactly ‘last minute’.
Cheers

Thank you all so much for your answers.
The drinks package has worked for me and allows me to completely relax. Going to lock this one down as the price has already gone up.
Cheers

I would love to get y’alls expert opinion on this little ripper I have found.
10 nights South Pacific
P&O Pacific Explorer
Balcony cabin x 2
Premium alcohol package x 2
$100 OBC
$1850 pp
I am loving this price and can’t find much else that has everything that I want. What I want to know is, this sails the very end of April...is that a good time for swimming and snorkelling? I would need somewhere around the 27 degrees celsius mark to get in the water comfortably. Not worried about rough weather or rainy days, but would prefer sunshine.
Is this a good price for the time of year? Is there anything else I should be worried about with this itinerary? Should I nick off to another thread that is more appropriate?
Cheers

Thanks guys, very helpful. I didn’t realise NCL are new to the Aussie fleet.

Going to ask here instead of starting a new thread. Do NCL ever do cruises to South Pacific?

You'll need to get the shuttle from the port into the city, then it's a short walk to where you get on the cable car, $7.50 one way. There were volunteers all along the way directing us where to go. The gardens are spectacular, I could have spent the whole day there. It is about a 10 minute walk from the gardens back into the city. We did not go to Te Papa museum, instead we went to the old government buildings, very interesting. The bank arcade with the old sunken ship underground is worth a quick look. We also went to the port museum, which is free with plenty to see, the new attic area was well done. We did all this and still had time to do a little shopping and have a relaxing beer at a lovely pub.
You will probably find a lot more info on all these ports in the Australia and New Zealand section of the Ports part of the forum.

Thanks to all who replied and the great suggestions. Those lines of passengers waiting for the shuttle back to the ship tipped us over the line in favour of doing the Viator City Tour with Olveston House tour.
Does anyone know if Princess charge for the use of their shuttle to and from the ports in New Zealand?
Yes, if I remember correctly, it was $15 return in Dunedin and $10 return in Wellington. There was a minibus in Akaroa running people up and down the main street that was free.

Cards were pre punched on Golden Nov 25 cruise.
-
There are some nice pubs within view of the line for the shuttles, I found one of those the best place to wait ;)

On a 5 night QLD sampler cruise on RCL in 2013 the casino did open when we were out of ports and a certain distance from Australia.

I have also had this problem, but only from cruise ships. Never had it from using the family boat for skiing or fishing, which we did a lot of when I was younger. On my first cruise which was 5 nights it lasted about 2 weeks, every time I sat down I felt like I was falling backwards. On my second cruise, which was 9 nights, it lasted the same amount of time, I ended up getting medication for it, which helped a little.
I have just disembarked from my last cruise a few days ago, which was 13 nights, and I feel great, a little wobbly the first couple of days, but no falling back sensation. I am very happy as I thought being a longer cruise it would be worse, but it has been a very quick adjustment. This for me was the worst part of cruising. Maybe I just need to take longer or more cruises haha.

We hired a van for six people (actually seats 8) from rent a dent, was waiting for us right outside the port gates, just had to sign and off we went, left van in same spot when we returned. Was a very easy process and only $150. We thought we might get a real bomb considering the name of the company, but it was pure luxury with electric everything and beautiful plush seats that laid right back. I would have taken that van home if I could. Would definitely recommend and use again. This was just last week.
Huge brawl on the Legend, with video.
