1. Just trying to figure out when to purchase the drink package for our trip. Am I correct that its charged as soon as you sign up? I'd like to use our OBC to pay for it. Does that mean I need to wait until I'm on-board to sign up for it?

The only nice thing about doing it ahead of time is not having such a large charge on your Sea Pass! One reason for the drink package is not to see a big bill at the end of the sailing so paying ahead of time eliminates that!

  2. How would someone on shore reach us on our ship durning an emergency at home? I've searched the RCL website and can't find anything. We are On the FOS departing Feb 8 out of PC. Thanks in advance.

They can always call Royal Caribbean directly and get the number for the ship or on your Cruise Compass the first day on the very bottom either front or back page lists the number for the ship. You can call or text them before the ship leaves the port and give them the number.

  3. Just got off today... I'm sure my bf CanadianTyler will post more later but be warned, the second formal night is the night you are in Costa Maya. This was a surprise to a lot of people on the ship who went to dinner underdressed!

Marvin was the CD and Marek Slaby was Captain. He did a great job at being approachable and visible quite a few times on the ship.

    Thanks for the info!

  4. I would order the cake through gifts and gears. But, please call them on the phone to order. There are way too many people reporting that their online orders through gifts and gears do not make it to the ship. IF you call, you can talk to a real person who can confirm your order.

You have the option of having the cake delivered to your stateroom (will be there when you get to the room), or delivered at dinner time.

The cake is very good! You have the option of vanilla or chocolate. Both are very moist with nice icing. I've ordered one on each of our last 3 cruises (I get the "Bon Voyage" cake- which is the exact same item, except for the wording on the cake).

I agree with you the cake thru gifts and gear is very good! I enjoy the vanilla one. We too have ordered the cake for our stateroom just because! Hey they call it vacation for a reason lol

  5.
What would you suggest for young twentys couple? I have some cocktail dresses that pack easily. But I'm thinking about an outfit for him. Would it be wrong to have a long sleeve shirt and tie? We are flying and I don't want to deal with a coat.
Cocktails dresses work great and so do shirts and ties!

  6. So as I start my pre-vacation ritual of worrying about things that are out of my control months in advance ;), I wondered what people do when it's rainy, blah, etc on the cruise?

Do you still sit on the deck? Do you get bored? I would think drinking is involved at some point. :p Our ship will be Freedom of The Seas.

This is just a different type of vacation for us, where options seem a bit more limited if the weather is bad.

    Thanks!

The Cruise Director will have many activities planned throughout the day to keep your busy. Also while at sea the casino is open and so are the shops. The pool deck is still lively even when the weather isn't great. The solarium and main pool do have lounge chairs in certain areas that are covered and some of the hot tubs have awnings on them as well! And of course all the bars are open so yes drinking is involved lol! Like I always say a bad day at sea is always better than a good day on land!

  7. Maybe you could find a shorter cruise to go on before doing another longer cruise?

    Tom

That's a great idea! We did that once before! We were short a few years ago right before our B2B honeymoon. We wouldn't have reached Diamond until the second week so we booked a cruise before our honeymoon to make enough points for Diamond.

  8. My husband and I are planning our next cruise on Royal Caribbean. We thought that we wanted to try one of the large ships, either Allure or Oasis. Both sail to Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Maarten during the time we want to go. We have been to all of those places on a previous cruise and really liked them. We also have the option of sailing on the Navigator and going to some places we have never been before, Puerto Rico-St. Kitts-Haiti. My question is, do we got to places we have never been before on a smaller ship or get the big ship experience and go to places we have already been? Any advice is appreciated- about the ships as well as information on the ports. Thanks!

With Oasis class the ship is your destination with a "smaller" ship like the Navigator you tend to go for the ports. We love the Oasis class for many reasons such as the vast entertainment options, the expansive pool area, the paradise feel of the solarium, the multiple dining options, and Central Park. The ship is an experience. You need to ask each other what you wanna do more stay on the ship all week and enjoy that or get off in the ports and explore. Either way you can't go wrong!

  9. I'd love anyone's input because my wife and I are really struggling on which Memorial Day week cruise to take. We're looking at the following cruises

    1. 5/23 Oasis-WC

    2. 5/24 Freedom-WC

    3. 5/24 Indy-EC

We've been on Allure and Liberty before so we're both pretty familiar with both classes of ships. However on Freedom or Indy we could do a GS vs. on Oasis we would do a JS. If we do either WC itineraries we would be excited to experience Labadee and on the EC itinerary we would love to see Puerto Rico and Bassaterre.

We've never left out of Port Canaveral before so if we chose Freedom we're a little worried about that. We're pretty familiar with leaving out of Ft. Lauderdale and have our routine down.

We love being on cruises but also enjoy the entertainment at night on board like the comedy shows, broadway shows, etc.

    Thanks for your input

We are partial to Oasis class! Labadee is great! If your looking for the most entertainment variety go with Oasis.
