Well as you all know I booked just 2 days prior to sailing and as figured I didn’t have a dinning table. So I went down to the dinning room and requested a large table, since I was cruising solo and was quickly told, “we are full, so you need to visit MTD” I’m not going to lie, this P*ssed me off, but I’m actually used to being pushed around, as I look younger and it always happens. I mean you should see the faces when I walk into the diamond lounge, but as I always say, I don’t sweat the small stuff, so dinner tonight was in the windjammer!
Yes they have sushi! But I didn't try any...
I came across this review and I'm enjoying it! I understand your feelings on how sometimes you feel pushed around as my DH and I are both younger and experience the same things. Same thing happens to us when we enter the Diamond Lounge! Right away we get the looks like "are you sure your supposed to be here"!? Yup we are sure! May be young but we cruise all the time with Royal! My DH and you both have the same attitude, "who cares" and " don't sweat it"! Thanks for taking the time to do all these reviews!

We just got back from our 7 day cruise. There are many post here about what the ship is like...so I will try to make it short and give you my personal pro's and con's.
Pro's: Embankment easy. The ship is clean, well kept and well decorated.
Our dinner/food was the best I ever had on a cruise.. all sorts of steaks, seafood, chicken etc cooked to perfection! Our waiters, Juan/Freddy were the best! Coffee was hot! Staff very friendly.
Con's: The food at the buffet was warm to cold. The shows/cruise director weren't at all that entertaining. Having some shows in the tight atrium was simply a stupid idea...not enough room, not enough chairs to accommodate the passengers. The sinks in our bathrooms had very very little water pressure..and this wasn't just in my room, it was a complaint heard around the ship. The showers, although very small, water pressure was fine. But there is no liquid soap in the showers--bars provided...no shampoo...you have to ask your room steward. The rooms are smaller then on most other cruise lines. There is no refrigerator in the room. The pizza/ice cream wasn't 24 hours. When it was open, the pizza was located in the solarium pool area. Although the seas weren't at all that rough, this ship rocked more then I have experienced on other ships with the same sea conditions..and I have been on over 20 cruises.
Some people complained that during dinner, the waiters didn't entertain us (singing/dancing) as on other cruises. The Captain said this was a change RCCL made a few months earlier, and in February company policy dictates he will not be allowed to make any daily announcements either because people felt it was interfering with activities...not a big deal to me but I thought I would mention it.
RCCL offers a nice cruise for the buck, and any cruise is great no matter what the pro's and con's are...and having tried RCCL 3 times out of my 20 cruises, I'm sure RCCL will not be my first choice in the future.
So to confirm there wasn't a fridge in your cabin? Also what was the general age of passengers on the ship? Does the vision have shower curtains or doors? Thanks for the review!

I wish RCCL would do what HAL does. They post the whole buffett dinner menu every afteroon at the entrances.
They do that for the MDR but not for the Windjammer.

If you go on Royals website under ships and click on the Grandeur, under the dining options it states that the Viking Crown Lounge offers an al e carte menu offering bite sized portions of classic dishes. Is this something new? Anyone experience this? Any comments???

There were theme nights on my most recent cruise which was the Jewel. I only saw the themes posted after afternoon snacks was cleaned up in the Windjammer. I'm sure you can ask a crew member from the Windjammer earlier in the day!

We are cruising on Allure in February. It is the first cruise with our 2 year old daughter. We have been to Cozumel a several times before and know that taxi is not a secure option for traveling with the lo. We are thinking of booking the Royal Carribean Playa Mia excursion. Has anybody booked it? How was the transfer? Coach or small buses ( 10 passengers)? Thanks for your answers
We took this excursion about 6 years ago and at the time they were using coach buses. It is a nice beach day with plenty of amenities. Wish I could give you more current info!

Does anyone know for sure in March who the captain will be?

For one of our future cruise we are flying into IAH same day as cruise and using a car service to get to the pier. On our return home we will be using ship transfers to return to IAH. Does this sound right?

I was planning to use my phone as my camera.... How will I prove to everyone that this vacation really happened. :p
but seriously, I wonder if they still make those underwater disposables?
We never leave the ship without our cell phones! That is your lifeline if anything was ever to happen! I would rather risk of losing my phone then losing my line of communication in a foreign place.

can i go to the bar with my drink pkg card and my spouses' drink pkg card and get a drink for each, or do we both need to go to the bar?
I have first hand experience of being able to bring two drink package sea passes and receive two drinks!
