JG&Lcruisingnewbies -I'm thinking of doing a live from when we sail. Never been to Norway (my husband's ancestral country) and after the cruise we will be touring England (my ancestry) for 2 weeks. I'm a little aprehensive about the driving around England but I guess we'll manage. If I do the live, I will let you know ! It's getting real now !!!

Which brings up another question. Hearing rumors of several strikes upcoming in the UK over the summer. Could any Brits tell us of any known disruptions we should be aware of for summer visitors to the UK? My trip is in August.

I believe you have to go through the agent. I called my TA to pay with GC, he got Princess on the phone and the 3 of us got the GC applied. Pretty simple.

I believe the Dublin airport has a US Customs Preclearance area and I know there had been talk, several years ago, of opening a Preclearance office/area in London Heathrow. Does anyone know if there are currently plans to do that in LHR anytime soon?

Yes, probably the biggest spreaders are the chair backs and seat and the menus in the main dining room. How do you wash your hands after you pull your chair in? Hand sanitizer does not kill Norovirus. It will kill Covid, but not Noro. Masks are not effective in preventing any virus. Virus particles are too small, plus when a person removes the mask to place it somewhere, the exterior of the mask is usually touched so the person now has any bacteria or germ that the mask "caught" on their hands.

Any chance you're going to Norway? We're on Sky Aug 12-19 to Norway out of Southampton. This will be our second Sky sailing and we loved the 1st one !

People have mentioned the laundry facilities on Princess. These are so nice to have. We're spending almost 2 weeks in England this summer (2023) after a week long cruise in Norway. We chose Princess because of laundry. I will be doing laundry on the last full day of the cruise so I won't have to do it again until we fly back to the US. One thing I loved on Celebrity -that Princess used to have but not on their ships for quite a while - is the lovely solarium at the front of the ship with huge glass windows. You could sit there while sailing and see so much beautiful scenery go by (i.e. glaciers !). The most recent Celebrity ship I've been on was Silhouette and they still had that area.

I cruise both lines. I like them both. I found the Celebrity food to be a bit more bland tasting than Princess. We often joke that we should bring a case of seasonings to the table on Celeb - maybe they'd get the message. But everyone has different tastes.

I've noticed they do this on the new ships. Annoying.

Yes, we've had the rooms on the Sun Deck. So nice and quiet. Right outside our door was Movies under the Stars. We really liked that room. I'll be on Sky again in August (Norway) in my 1st aft cabin.

Our travel agent processed the GC to pay for our cruise. Not our 1st cruise with Princess.

They can be used to pay for the cruise, however, if you cancel (within the cancel -full refund period), you would not get cash back, only refunded in gift card funds.

To this day, I have never had a Covid test. I have never had Covid (that I am aware of). I have never had the Covid injection. I have an amazing immune system.
