Kids/Adult swapping rooms and sea pass cards
jbrinkm replied to Sportsdoc's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If you have a TA, they can assign them this way from the start, as long as they are right next to or right across the hall from their adults. We did it last year with our 12 & 15 y.o.s and are booked this way again this year with our (now) 13 & 16 y.o.s. -
What about in the evening (same day - 4/1)? Around 9 or 10pm, is there a lot of traffic on Saturday night between IAH and Galveston? Surge pricing on rideshares?

Voyager of the Seas in a week-Fitness and alcohol
jbrinkm replied to edgar72's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I was just able to peek at Voyager for this week - it looks like a lot of morning fitness classes. Try going to the little person/head at the top, click "select a different cruise," choose Browse our ships, choose Voyager, and then click Feb 19 sailing (it is easy to switch back to your sailing!). Then you can check out the fitness classes and the bar menus. It should be fairly similar from one week to the next - not always identical but can give you a good idea. -
Please hype me up; Freedom of the Seas
jbrinkm replied to CatLadyFemme's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I can't help you with the questions you have about being on the ship but I can be an affirming and supportive voice, to send you moral and emotional support, and to tell you that you are a worthwhile and valuable human being whose voice brings a great deal of joy to these boards. I'm so sorry for these struggles. I genuinely hope that you are able to exist, eat, move and enjoy yourself on your vacation. -
Voyager of the Seas in a week-Fitness and alcohol

If you have the app, can you look at the Voyager sailing that is currently happening to get a sense of the classes and timing? I don't think you'd be allowed to bring your own mixer onboard. Also if you go on the app under dining and go to bars, you can choose the menu and scroll through to see if any of the drinks have the ingredients that you like. If they have the ingredients, they'd probably make you the drink you like. -
Deluxe beverage package and specialty coffee
jbrinkm replied to atakkat's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Cafe Promenade if you just want to go and get a coffee. Which seems to now be serving Starbucks coffee, ironically, but is not the licensed kiosk. Someone will have to confirm additional places, but I think there was also a specialty coffee station in the WJ, if I'm remembering correctly. You might also be able to get a specialty coffee in the MDR. -
I'm fine! Thanks for looking out @c-leg5! I'm looking forward to actually being able to get food, which we had trouble with at Jaime's (took about an hour and a half after we ordered to get 1 plate, then they never asked us again). A little chips & guac/salsa, then as much lunch as we want, even in a limited time frame, works well for my family. We have unlimited food on the ship, we'll eat breakfast before heading out, and we have early dining, so I don't think we'd want to be snacking all afternoon anyway. We'll just take what we want when they put it out and perhaps keep a little extra at our palapa, we'll be back on the ship by 4:00pm for our 5pm dinner. I'm looking forward to the activities and ocean and relaxation and the booze a bit too, since that is probably the only time during the cruise that I'll drink. I couldn't enjoy any of the activities or ocean or relaxation at Jaime's because it was so squished.

Once a day Cleaning Morning or Evening?
jbrinkm replied to molly361's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I wonder how being a typical morning vs evening shower-er influences our preference for morning vs. evening cleanings? My whole family showers at the end of the day so I would prefer a cleaning between when we return from an excursion and use the towels the first time, and when we turn in for the night so I can have fresh towels for the second shower. Do those of you choosing the morning cleaning typically also shower in the morning? I hope they continue doing it for the kids. My teens still love it (they created a "zoo" last year with their animals) and it was one of their favorite things when they cruised for the first time. -
Looked at a Cruise on RCI App and it Now Won't Go Away
jbrinkm replied to teddie's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I thought about that too - that I just go back to the cruise that I have currently booked, but had no idea what to do if you just wanted to reset it "clean" (without any specific cruise selected...). -
Once a day Cleaning Morning or Evening?
jbrinkm replied to molly361's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If I could specify a time, I'd like evening after we've gone to dinner (early fixed time), say around 5:30-6pm. I hate to come back from an excursion and not be able to use the shower & room to get ready for dinner, so I chose morning since I don't know what time evening means. -

This might be a situation where you need to clear cache or clear data on the app. My guess would be to clear all the data and then log in to the app again. -
Allure of the Seas Galveston debarkation question
jbrinkm replied to TonyaJune's topic in Royal Caribbean International
When I booked private transportation from the port back to the airport for our April cruise, I asked the representative about what would happen if the ship arrived into the port late, specifically for fog. He told me that the ships don't come in late for fog any more - that when fog is expected, they bring the ships in at midnight. (but then he was kind enough to go through the steps for what would happen with our transportation if we did come in late for any other reason, like a medical emergency that delays us, or like the computer issue you mention). I don't live there or follow the ship's schedules, so cannot verify on my own, but thought it was interesting info from a shuttle company who is there all the time. He said normally, everyone is off the ship by 10am (even though the schedules I've seen have disembarkation up through 10:30am). Our earliest check in time is 11am on Allure. -
I agree that Chankanaab might be a good fit, especially because you have a 4 year old with you. It's pretty big and has sand and snorkeling and other animals and some Mayan replica ruins. If you don't even want to spend that much but maybe some want to snorkel, you could try the Money Bar.

Where will Independence OTS be during summer 2024?
jbrinkm replied to jbrinkm's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Thanks everyone, they just added her routes this week, after I posted the question. I started following over on the 24-25 deployment thread to keep up with the latest news for the next two years. -
I love the Mesoamerican Reef for snorkeling so I would choose the Western Caribbean (East Mexico...).

There's a suitcase called Hop that becomes a step stool (on its side) and also has wheels for a child to pull. Probably pricey, but would serve a dual purpose and not add weight to the other luggage.

@SuperPlanner What ship are you on? Perhaps you can check a similar sailing that is happening now on the app to see what they are offering? @Cruise5life Could you double check your daily for the first night at 9:30pm in the Royal Theater? I'm seeing one that someone posted for the Welcome Aboard Family Comedy Show with Simeon and Paul on Day 1. But wondering if they cancelled it for your sailing for some reason?

Allure embarkation times in Galveston?
jbrinkm replied to swdke's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Just did my online check in and the earliest time available for Allure/Galveston was 11am (true for people in my roll call as well). In Florida, I see a lot of people saying they got 10am or 10:30am times, but Allure's disembarkation schedule shows groups still leaving until 10:30am (the schedule shows, even if it may not take that long all of the time). And some restaurants on board are open for breakfast slightly longer than FL sailings on disembarkation day. So perhaps everything is just pushed back an hour on Allure? -
We went to the one on Allure last spring. I didn't think it was very good, especially for kids, although they did like the jokes about the cabin bathrooms and showers. The one comedian was doing a whole monologue about his dating life and making some pretty misogynistic comments that I thought were inappropriate for the young audience. It was like he took his adult routine and just took out the curse words for the kids. There were a lot of blank faces in the elementary-aged audience and some fake laughs like, I don't really get why this is funny, but it's "comedy" so I'll laugh. There was only one family show during our 6 night cruise and it was held in the large theater so there were plenty of seats. It may have taken reservations, but honestly I can't remember if it did require them or if we made them or if we just showed up.
