  1. It shouldn't matter how far away your cruise is if you got the dining package (or UBP, etc.) as a perk. It should show up on your vacation summary on MyNCL. You can't make reservations until you're within the booking window for them, but you should see the perk.

Can you tell me where it would show up under my vacation summary?

We've got two cruises booked and we were able to get the UBP and dining package as perks. I see it noted on my confirmation that my TA sent me but I don't see it in my vacation summary.

  2. Hello,

We will be travelling to Costa Maya on a Christmas cruise also with several families, including children of all ages. We are looking for inexpensive beach packages with lots of activities to keep the children entertained.

I looked at the Blue Kay web site & have some lingering questions

    1) About how much is the day pass in USD? ( I calculated it to be about $20/pp - which seems too good to be true for all inclusive)

    2) What all do you get with the day pass?

    3) Do the other activities cost extra (snorkeling, kayaking, kite surfing, etc.)?

    4) What kind of "snacks" do they provide?

    Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, I don't know the answers to your questions but hopefully someone else here will be able to answer!

  3. I'm a pale skinned girl and I really like Neutrogena's ultra sheer lotion and spray. I'm a bit obsessive about it because I do burn easily & pretty bad so I go for a minimum of 70 spf. They have a 100 spf that I use for my face and really like it. My kids thankfully have my husband's complexion and they all have beautiful tans but I still spray them down.

  4. Could you provide more info on this group deal. Where do I find how many is considered a group and what is the legal mumbo jumbo. Thanks your help. I don't mind the 18% tips, but only if they really go to the crew.

I'm not sure this is correct, we booked with a group and are still having to pay the fees. I would call NCL and find out.

  5. I'm not sure why you need to move "upward" only. You are before final payment, is it a travel agent thing that wont let you "downgrade" to a lower category? Anyway, what happened to 5590?

5590 is an O1 and would cost us $300 more. We're sailing on a budget and we would rather save that $300 for something else. I'm not sure where you got that we need to move "upward". I was open to changing to an O1 because on ncl.com they were the same price as the OA on our sailing. However, our TA was able to get a better rate on the OA and now the O1's are more expensive.

  6. So far I'm seeing zero examples of any outside porthole or oceanview cabins on Pearl with two Pullmans. But I'm not quite ready to say they don't exist (people have implied they exist in discussions but not photographed them). I did find this additional configuration in one of the porthole rooms, where you have an upper pullman and lower trundle, with the double bed sliding to the side: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2061396

I also found this thread with an apparently grumpy person who seemed to have gotten 8120 (other side from yours) and seems to have gotten a pullman plus a center trundle: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2013816

That thread links to this one with more pictures of the cabin class on the Dawn: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1996957&highlight=cabin+sleeps

So with a pair of munchins you're probably okay, but I get the gripes if one were expecting to sleep four adults.

I have also seen the two Pullman configuration eluded to, for lack of a better word but have never seen a picture. We're totally find if we have the configuration with the 3 across on the bottom because our kids are still small. I could never imagine trying to fit 4 adults into a cabin configured like that.

  7. Wow, not much at all out there on either this cabin or even this class. A few things I could find:

    See here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1957080

This thread contains a picture from what seems to be a similar cabin on the Jewel, with the wall bunk bed down and four people: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=901947

This video is a similar adjoining room on deck five, but rated for three people instead of four. I believe the difference is the four person room has a 4th bed. Don't know if it's a second fold-down bed on the other wall, or a trundle that comes out between the two lowers:

Thanks! I'm curious if all of the quads on the Pearl have the trundle or if any of them do have 2 Pullmans? We would love to have 2 Pullmans but if the trundle is what is there, it's no big deal.

The kids are just excited to get on a ship!

  8. I've searched and searched and haven't been able to find any pictures or reviews of this particular cabin.

We're sailing in this cabin in December and it's our children's first cruise. I've never had 4 people (2 of them are small children) in a room and I'm wondering specifically how it's configured and it anyone has pictures of it.

    As always, thanks in advance!

  9. We were able to switch to 8620 and I have a feeling we'll be thankful we did. The kids do tend to crash earlier than most other kids so the theater would definitely be an issue.

Too bad I haven't been able to find many reviews of 8620 or pictures of the actual cabin. I'm curious as to what to expect. We've never had an oceanview cabin but I'm excited about taking the kids on their first cruise!

  10. We're sailing on the Norwegian Pearl on December 23rd. Our TA booked us into cabin 8010 which is an OA category but it appears to be directly under the theater at the front of the ship. This is our children's (6 & 8) first cruise so I'm a bit worried about the location and movement. I'm also concerned about noise from the theater and from what I've read it's very close to the anchor.

We're thinking about moving to an O1 category (5582 or 5590) but I can't find much in the way of reviews on these cabins either.

If you had to choose based on location, which would you choose? 8010 or 5582?

  11. For families like yours, I'd suggest Blue Kay. Take a taxi, not the tram. Another one might be Pitaya. There are several reviews of Blue Kay here and you can google it. Pitaya is relatively new and does seem to have a European feel as it's owners are Italian and have experience with European beach resorts. But check the site and any Trip Advisor reviews as it might be a bit more adult oriented.

Normally, I recommend Tropicante and their new spot Busters, both great spots with great service and good food and drinks. But IMO, Tropicante being in the middle of the malecon, is a bit more adult oriented. And Busters is definitely so with it's specialty tequilas and vodkas and Mexican craft beers.

So I'd think you'll find Blue Kay a bit more family oriented and quieter, although as more people hear about it, it could become more crowded.

    Wonderful! Thank you so much!

  12. Which ship are you on at Christmas?

makes a difference for what's available at port.

But given your children's ages and unfamiliarity of swimming skills, I'd suggest booking an island tour with Victor Bodden or Daniel Johnson or Rony's Tours.

Victor's drivers almost always go to Victor's farm and show off the animals especially the monkeys. Daniel's place has sloths. Rony can take you around to schools and places where kids their age are. Edited to say all Victor and Rony both have websites and lots of reviews on this board. Daniel is on FB and also has review threads here.

We will be on Norwegian Pearl! I've heard she's a beautiful ship and we're excited.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will look into everything you mentioned.

  13. Paradise Beach is a popular, pay as you go beach club with great facilities and a HUGE pool. $3 admission, extra for the water toys - your two may be too small for them. Taxi should be about $17 each way.

Playa Mia is a popular beach club for families - kiddie water park, pools, beach, water toys, etc. They offer a variety of packages, some including transport/food/drinks. Taxi is also about $17 each way.

Chankanaab Marine park offers dolphins and other marine life shows, plus options to interact or swim with the dolphins (mucho $$); I suspect yours might be able to touch, but not swim with the dolphins because of age. Plus a nice beach, small pool, plus a separate snorkel area. Taxi will be about $11 each way.

Check with all to verify that they will be open on Christmas day.

Thank you! Playa Mia sounds like something they would enjoy. I'm going to look into them and see if they will be open on Christmas day.

Of course, if y'all have any other ideas I would love to hear them!

  14. I apologize, they will be 7 & 9 when we're on the cruise. They wouldn't enjoy a tour like that. I was thinking a beach day would be nice. I'm going to look into the water park, it sounds interesting.

What beach club would you recommend along the malecon that they might enjoy?

  15. We're taking the kids on a cruise for Christmas this year and it will be their first time cruising and leaving the country! We're trying to figure out what would be the best thing to do for kids their age. We're pretty much open to anything but the youngest isn't a great swimmer. What would you suggest for kids their age?

We've only been to Roatan once so we're not well versed on the options.

    Thanks in advance!

  18. We recently booked a Christmas cruise on the Pearl and are so excited! This will be our children's (6 & 8) first cruise and they are thrilled.

We booked an OA guarantee and I'm curious about the configuration for 2 adults and 2 kids. I couldn't find any pictures of the cabin set up with a queen and 2 pullmans, is this even possible? I've never sailed in a stateroom with 4 people but we're going to give this a try and see how it goes.

I just want to prepare myself for the possible layout of the beds!

    Thanks in advance!
