Interesting, I also haven't received an email from Carnival about it.
-
We still haven't decided what to do in Montego Bay and we're looking for options outside of the cruise line. What are some reputable third party guides/tours that you have gone through to book an excursion?
-
I'm excited for your Dream review! We're booked on her this summer with our best friends!
-
That looks like a blast! Thank you for sharing!
-
My thoughts exactly! This was basically the situation we ended up with on our last cruise, needed something quick and simple but the line was really long so we ended up changing our minds.
-
Thank you!
The main perks for us would be being on board early, cabin being available right away, luggage priority, and priority tendering. Of course, should something arise I'm sure the priority line at GS would be nice but it's not a huge thing for us.

We just booked a cruise on the Dream with some friends of ours for July. We're doing our research and wondering if FTTF would be worth it for this trip.
I know a lot of it depends on the ship and the departure port so I'm wanting to get some feedback from people who have sailed on the Dream out of New Orleans before we decide to purchase.
Just for the record, our ports are Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel if that makes any difference.
Thanks for helping us make our decision!

My husband, myself and our best friends will be sailing on the Carnival Dream in July. Our first port is Montego Bay and we have absolutely no clue what to do. Out of the 4 of us, 2 of us have been there once and the other 2 have never been to Jamaica. The two who have been there have done Dunns River Falls but that's it.
I know whatever we decide to do, we need to do it through the cruise line or through a reputable tour company rather than just grabbing a cab. Other than that I am clueless.
I'm the primary researcher so I'm reading anything and everything I possibly can.
Tell me what you've done in Mo Bay that you've enjoyed, what you haven't enjoyed, what you would do again, etc.
To give a little background on us. We're between the ages of 29 & 32, love to have fun and have some adventure but at the same time love to relax and chill on the beach. We've already got a beach day planned and a snorkeling adventure planned for the other two ports but we're definitely up for pretty much anything that y'all might suggest.
I know this is a very vague post but at this point I'm just looking for some direction to get me started. We've discussed going to the Blue Hole but that's about it.

Thank you, I think we have decided we want to go to Nachi. It sounds very beautiful and relaxing, just like what we want.
-
My husband and I are going on a cruise with our best friends later this year and we are thinking about doing an AI in Cozumel.
Nachi Cocom has come highly recommended but I'm wanting to get a better idea of Nachi as well as some of the other AI's in the area before making our decision.
What AI's have y'all been to in Cozumel and what are the pros and cons about each?
We're going without the kids this time so it'll just be four adults.
Thanks so much for helping me make my decision!

We're going on a cruise with friends later this year and we haven't cruised Carnival in years. My first cruise ever was on the Ecstasy back in the 90's (we were actually on the sailing right before the fire) and my husband's last cruise with Carnival was probably in the early 2000's. So, technically I guess we aren't new to Carnival but it's been a very long time and we know some things have changed.
What are the things that we need to know when planning our Carnival cruise? We'll be sailing on the Dream, is there anything that we should particularly know about this ship? Anything we can't miss out on? Anything to avoid?
We're excited to get the planning underway!

We set sail on the Dawn in just 4-1/2 days so I'm very thankful for all of the tips! I'll be sure to share if I have any when we return!
-
I just cannot wrap my mind around this. Hopefully we'll find out what really happened. Thank you emmy for sharing the pictures. I'm thankful that he was rescued.
-
Thank y'all!
rvsullivan, I was wondering if they started earlier than 12. I know our edocs do show 12pm but the one thing I do remember about last year was that we were onboard well before whatever time our edocs said we were suppose to be. However, that was RCCL so I wasn't sure if we should expect the same from NCL or not.
-
Thank you for posting a review of the Dawn! We're sailing on her in 11 days & I cannot wait! Our first time on NCL and we're very excited!
-
I think I wouldn't even have to think about it...get on that cruise my friend!!! By the way, we're on this sailing as well!
-
Anyone that has sailed out of New Orleans, what time did you get to the terminal and what time did you board the ship? We're sailing on the Dawn in a few weeks and I cannot remember what time we got to the port and were able to board last year, I've racked my brain and can't remember for anything.
Thanks in advance!

Oh my, I just ate breakfast and now y'all have my tummy growling again.
kdzkatz, believe it or not, I've never actually tried flan. I've heard it's yummy but haven't had an opportunity to taste it. Random question, can you get it without the coconut topping? I can't eat coconut, that's why I'm asking.

Vigor is great, I work for a maritime company and one of our ships was up there in drydock almost 2 years ago. Those guys were phenomenal and worked like crazy to get the work done that needed to be done on our ship. No doubt the Star will be in great hands!
-
It looks like we'll be going to Cagney's the 2nd night and Moderno at some point for sure. I'm not sure if it'll just be the hubby and myself or the whole crew of us but I'm looking forward to it!

Does NCL have anything that they are known for as far as food is concerned? I know RCCL has their roast beef sandwiches and CCL has their chocolate melting cake, is there anything that stands out like that on NCL?
We're sailing on the Dawn in a few weeks and of course the food is one of the best parts! I can't stop thinking about how awesome it will be to eat yummy food that I don't have to cook...everything's tastes better when someone else cooks it right?
If NCL doesn't have anything that they're "known" for, what is your favorite item that I absolutely have to try on my first NCL cruise? Of course you have to tell me where to get it as well!
-
I wouldn't risk it. Last year on RCCL we had an engine issue in the middle of the night and ended up not getting back to the port until 10:30.

Grand Cayman - 7 fathoms rum, but is 35.00 a bottle, also at little plaza right by Margaritaville is a little liquor store has blackbeards rum, real good, also a little trailer there that sells blackbeards rum cakes, if you buy a six pack, they give you a 2 lb cake for free, best ones are original, and the banana (banana is the best) we also bought tortuga rum and tortuga rum cakes, but blackbeards i think is the best .. we bought a bottle of Cruzan rum there for only 8.00 (it is cheaper than that in St Thomas or St Croix) Cozumel, Mexican blankets 3 for 20.00 is norm, dont pay more than 2-3 dollars for maracas , also for hot sauces in Cozumel, we bought like 6 various bottles, 2 bucks or less a piece, silver jewelry, jewelry store right at port will bargain good with you. Wife bought a bracelet, he started out at 85.00 , she got for 50.00, had appraised here in Tampa at friends store, they said it would sell for around 100.00 ... had black onyx in it.. i bought a turquoise/ silver bolo tie ..
We will be in Cozumel in 2 weeks and I'm thinking I might just have to get some blankets. Do you have a place that you typically buy from?
