Orchard Road is the main shopping belt in Singapore with many branded shops and department stores. You might want to consider hotels in that are such as the Grand Hyatt which is located directly within the shopping belt or Pan Pacific Serviced Suites which is on the other end of the belt. This area should be around half and hour to the port and can give you a nice drive by of the Marina Bay area.
The flyer is definitely something that you should consider going on. It gives you a great view of basically the whole island of Singapore. Also, if you have time our merlion park/statue, the giant merlion in Sentosa and the baby ones in Marina Bay. It is after all, the iconic mammal/animal of our country. Hope this helps! :D

It doesnt make any sense to base to Voyager class ships here, I was hoping because of the Quantum Class and Oasis III we would finally see a Freedom Class ship.
I dont think Explorer will be home ported in Australia. Probably singapore with some itineraries to Australia. Similar to Voyager's schedule but different homeport.

You've got a point. I've had a similar experience in the past. But if oasis were to call here im sure they would come up with a new strategy to cope with frequent larger ships. I just think its a lack of effort from the ground crew.

Mbscc is a new cruise terminal. Opened last year and capable of oasis class ships. Mariner and voyager are the same size as explorer. What makes you think she cant call here? :p

There has to be a drydock somewhere in Europe that can fit legend.

I was informed by the manager of the MDR on Mariner that 2 more ships would sail to asia. Right now the explorer is most likely to come, so maybe its true?

Galveston almost certainly with Indy covering for Allure

But there is no confirmation of this. Just a speculation at this moment right?

And you are basing that on what? RCI Director for Spain/France just gave big speech in Barcelona about Royal's commitment to Barcelona. I was not there, so do not know if he mentioned that. He has only confirmed Liberty is leaving and Allure is coming as far as I know.
I lost track of where Liberty was going:p. Is she going to Fort Lauderdale to replace Allure's caribbean itineraries?
-
But why are they releasing Europe itineraries now? Isn't it meant to be Canadian, Caribbean only?
-
They are making us wait until mid-2014 for Singapore. I'm DYING to know what ship / ships they putting there. Those Oasis Class rumours are too much for me!!!!!
YES. Thats exactly how i feel like. Dying inside from curiosity. I too want to find out the oasis and Explorer OTS rumour. 4 more months before confirmation :( :( :(
-
I doubt they'd move Liberty to Asia given Saturday Night Fever, etc on board. I would have said Indy to Galveston but I'm not so sure now, if a Freedom Class were to go to Asia my bet would be on Indy.
I still reckon they'll use Liberty to supplement Allure's absence in Port Everglades for the summer to keep numbers up.

You'd be surprised, many asians here know what stuff like saturday night fever is and enjoy jazzing to it as weird as it seems. My bet is that liberty would come not sure about freedom? :P

And where is this one going;
http://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/10630-kfw-ipex-bank-finances-third-quantum-sister.html
I have a feeling probably year round Japan-China-Korea-Russian itineraries. If the other two are based in New Jersey and Southampton, that leaves South America, Asia and Australia region left. Or maybe Australia? Who knows :P

What is the advantage of the Freedom Class out of Singapore as opposed to Voyager Class?
Well, I've noticed (this may not only be for this region but) most of the ships seem to be quite worn down because we get the older ships. I was in a suite on my last cruise on Mariner and even though it is younger in age than voyager, cupboards were still coming off underneath the TV. I could literally pull both doors out. Also elevators won't working right, some buttons you pressed would never work.
Compared that to Liberty, Liberty's interior seems much more intact with these minor issues. Mainly the fact that if RCI wants to bring another ship to asia, it should be of a larger capacity than those currently sailing there, seeing that they see this market as a growing opportunity to them.

You are correct it is not the incoming vessel list and never has been.
Go one line above this and look in the pop down menu in the search bar. In the vessel column Explorer of the Seas appear.
Well looks like you are right! IT is listed, although it makes no sense to have 2 voyager class ships here. I would prefer actually expect a freedom class than another voyager especially after they moved Mariner here. I do hope that the listing is because it is on a repo cruise to sydney with a stop in singapore. :D
-
If you look in the pop down menu for the vessel column for Marina Bay Cruise Terminal in Singapore the Explorer of the Seas is the only Royal Caribbean Ship that has not been to Singapore.
So it would appear Explorer of the Seas is bound to visit Singapore.
 No Oasis or Freedom Class yet.
It seems to me that Explorer is not listed down as an "incoming vessel":(. Only Mariner and Voyager. Where did you get this speculation from?
-
The Asian market currently has two Voyager class vessels in Asia. An Oasis class can easily replace one or both. If you read the various trade journals Asia is currently very high on all major cruise lines list for expansion. A lot of money to be made in this market.
Apparently I heard from one of the waiters in the MDR on Mariner that 2 new ships will be added to the region next year ( this year). This was during my December sailing.

Exciting thought. I hope that comes true. It all depends on how the Chinese market grows.
Singapore is not too far from Hong Kong!!
In a similar vein, the new Marina Bay Cruise Terminal in Singapore was designed to be able to accommodate the Oasis-class too.
Well i was reading this article and it said "Once the terminal is fully operational in 2015, you'll be able to take great photographs of the Oasis-class cruise liners coming into berth. Built at a cost of S$1.55 billion, and 360 metres long, these are the largest passenger ships in the world."
So i don't think our region is far off from an oasis class ship. Apparently 2015  thats coming soon! can't wait. Hopefully they make 7 night itineraries like the caribbean!
The article is here:

Passion sounds good but pulse of the seas? what happened to that? I thought something more like elegance or temptation of the seas is pretty nice. ;)
-
well i think that one oasis class ship maybe allure or oasis 3 will come to the far east. It says that in 2015 Oasis class ships will be docked at Singapore Marina Bay Cruise Center. On top of that Hong Kong's new Kai Tak terminal can cater to this massive ship as well. one or two years from now gives other cities along that route or region time to build the required infrastructure for oasis-class ships. Hope to see one soon! :D:);)
Deployment schedule: let the guessing begin!
