  1. Well, since Izod shirts were big back then I suppose you could wear a polo type shirt and that could count. Dressing as the 80's?? Not too sure what was special about that decade....I just remember wearing white pantyhose with a dress.

Hair Bands, Michael Jackson, Madonna... the moonwalk, Max Headroom. The 80's was the most defining musically of any since then that's for sure.

  2. The gratuities are being increased, so I'm sure it's just a computer problem. AS soon as the new price is added, you will be able to prepay the new price! You have plenty of time!

DSC is based on the price when you booked so you're way off with this conspiracy theory

  3. If you didn't have the DSC added to your booking prior to the end of July 2015 it may be too late to get the rate that was in effect when you booked. I booked April 2015 and had to add my son's DSC to our booking by end of July to lock in the previous DSC rate (DH and I had free DSC as a promo). I didn't have to pay for DS's DSC until final payment, but supposedly I did have to add it to the booking by end of July for the lower price.

Not true. We booked in March 2015 and just finally decided to pay DSC a month or so ago. Got it at the rate it was when we booked back in March. Also bought some OBC to spend at that rate since the Canadian $$$ tanked since then. Got all of it for $1.11

  4. Just saying.. could you imagine the legal headache if this 18 year old parents signed the waiver allowing him to drink beer and he started giving it to his younger friends? Or worse yet showed up to activities drunk?

You age is your age, it shouldn't matter what grade you're in u less there is a defined development situation. There is a reason they set these age "rules", they aren't just guidelines.

  5. I was looking for a cruise in the med for Christmas 2016.

Looked at the NCL Spirit, 11,000 for a suite, no haven.

I ended up booking MSC in the yacht Club, for about 5000.

Same dates and pretty much the same itinerary.

    Lois

Strange I see the Christmas cruise on the spirit for 3999 And ncl are all 12 days and msc I see only 7 day cruises. Am I missing something? To see MSC half the price of another cruise is shocking to me.

  6. Doesnt Carnival policy also say they will get you to the next port at no cost to you? In case you are on one of their excursions and they cannot wait?

Yes. Straight from a Carnival cruise director it is against maritime law for them to abandon you if you are late DUE to a excursion bought through the cruise line.

  7. Why does everyone feel a need to stay close to the port? Are you afraid the boat will leave without you or all the taxis will suddenly stop running the day of departure? You're already in the same city ... stay somewhere nice and/or near some fun and relax .. you're on vacation. Sheesh.

There is tons to do near the port. If I'm going to Miami the day before I'm staying somewhere near the port so I can walk the water and enjoy the mall and everything else the area has to offer. If you want to stay on the middle of the city that's your choice but many people like to stay in the area of the port... not always because it's close to the ships.

  8. I have been on the magic with a then 10 year old. It was an enjoyable ship. Haven't been on the Escape but going on the Getaway in 2 weeks and have been researching the Getaway and Escape extensively. Hoping the Escape will be our next cruise.. all this said, I believe there will be many MANY more things to keep your child entertained on the Escape. There are more slides, the ropes course on the Escape makes the ropes course on Magic look tiny. I'm not sure about kids programs on NCL but my 10 year got very bored very fast with Camp Carnival with a couple exceptions ie: the late night party

  9. According to my TA as long as you purchased insurance the cruise line is responsible for getting you to the next port. I have never heard of them allowing to board from a tugboat. I do know they will helicopter you off the ship if you are critically ill.

Your TA is obviously trying to con you into buying something extra by lying to you. There is only one guarantee on missing the ship. If you buy an excursion through the cruise line directly and that excursion is what causes you to be late they will wait as long as they can. No insurance you can purchase gives you this security.

  10. How many do it? It seems like it is going to stress me out. We have a cruise booked for a Saturday next March and the Escape is set to sail at 4.

We'll likely have to fly in that morning to Miami because the wife is a teacher and school has a strict policy of no vacation days the day before spring break (that Friday). It takes us two hours to get to the Mpls airport. The last direct flight leaves at 5ish so that's out.

Any connecting flights that leave later Friday night and go throughout the night appear to cost an arm and a leg right now. Much cheaper to fly out the first thing Saturday morning (5 am-ish) direct and get there 10 am-ish. But I overheard a guy on the ship last week talking about how his flight was delayed, he missed the sailing, and the first port he could get to was Tortola, basically giving him a few days. Yikes.

Make me think I should look for a Sunday sailing instead but maybe I should just go for it.

*COUGH* I think there's a nasty virus going around. Probably should stay home from school so she doesn't spread it to another teachers and students

  11. I think many folks are missing the point. If the cabin was as noisy and terrible as the op described, ncl knows it, probably has had numerous complaints, yet still places unsuspecting cruisers in that room.

I'd be surprised if it was nearly as bad as the OP described. These forums would be full of complaints and we would all be well aware of how terribly awful these cabins are.

  12. I guess I wasn't clear enough in my op. Yes the TA is a American company. I paid my deposit with my Canadian credit card but now I want to pay final payment in US funds. TA exact words. Certified bank check that is drawn from US bank and is in US funds. I guess I'm ticked because I always believed that a certified check was as good as cash. Payment due May 30 I still do not want the credit card but may have NO choice

You can get canadian money orders drawn up in US funds and pay that way.

  13. If you're Canadian it could make a huge difference when you pay. We paid online early because when we booked out cruise the exchange was $1.11 by paying online that's the rate we get. If we wait until we are on the ship it will be closer to $1.40
