  1. oops. not sure why, but maybe this will work better? Celebrity Beyond Review by photosg
  2. iPhoneXR everywhere. CanonG5X on shore (mostly) and CanonM50 (with a 32mm lens) on the ship only.
  3. A show at Eden in Kotor Before sailing out of Civitavecchia A scene from Arte The view from 6222 and at night the lifeboat lights up!

  5. Hello again @sfred! how is your cruise going? Now that i am back home and on my computer I have been going through my 1,600 holiday snaps and here are a few from from Andalsnes/Romsdalsfjord that you might like.
  6. Hello @sfred, not sure If this still counts as Romsdalfjord, it was after dinner that night.
  7. Just a few hours in Southampton before heading to Heathrow and our overnight flight back to hot and humid Singapore.
  8. Oops, I lost my post to gremlins again! I was up very early because we went back two hours between Cherbourg and Southampton. After dinner we had Lisa-Marie Holmes in the theatre followed by the Barricade Boys in the Queen’s Room. They managed to pull a huge and very appreciative crowd and the dance floor was also very active. A great way to end the cruise. it’s now after breakfast and I’m sitting in my cabin waiting for my disembarkation time. Have to say this is much nicer than having to lug your overnight case to breakfast with you and also allows for a change and wash up after breakfast. An update about the mask wearing among the staff. After a day or two of increasing masklessness I noticed many started to wear their masks again and mask wearing among staff is more than 90%. So I’m wondering if they know more about covid on board than the passengers do. There is definitely covid on board as my cabin is next to the four isolation cabins on my deck. I see a PPE swathed swabber in the morning and food trays left outside the doors. In about 24h I will be back in Singapore and will be able to post a few more photos and quite a few more thoughts. I feel like a new person after these 19 nights on board. I’m ready to go home but I could definitely do 2 more nights, maybe another whole week. Everyone that I have met has been so gracious so I feel that I have better manners now than 3 weeks ago. Unusually I am disembarking with nothing booked on Cunard to look forward to but I am booked for Celebrity Beyond in May.
  9. Friday was another slightly bouncey day heading back up the bay of Bay of Biscay but once we rounded the corner things settled down again. Two of us like the feeling of actually being on a ship but another has to take medication. Saturday we were in Cherbourg which almost had too much to see. The ship docks right next to the Cite de la Mer so it’s an easy choice. Found the submarine very interesting. 70 days underwater sleeping next to nuclear warheads and a nuclear reactor! The Titanic “experience” was well done but I couldn’t handle the emotional part (as in I had strong negative feelings) so I had to skim over some bits. I did the aquarium last in case I didn’t have time but it had more informative and high-tech interactive multi-sensory displays than actual live creatures. I’m a big fan of aquaria but having been to the one in Lisbon recently, in May, this one was nothing to write home about. we had to disembark through the old baggage hall which had some interactive projections on the side wall. Live seafood, cheese, bread and all sorts of vegetables on sale at the market. (Was told that the veggies are twice the price they are in the UK.) The submarine was visible from deck 10.
  10. Santander on Thursday was a Maiden Call. We didn’t do any ships tours but caught a little ferry boat to little towns. A little more sunshine would have been nice but as it was it was the warmest day we had on the cruise.
  11. Yes. On Victoria right now and this cruise was the first to offer open dining. The lower level of Britannia is set aside for open dining while the upper remains traditional two sitting. Predictably the first night was a bit of a shambles but the kinks were sorted out by the second night. While it is possible to get the same set of waiters every night it is not guaranteed with open seating unless you eat early (and make a reservation.) If you just turn up at any time then be prepared for random waiters, although the maître d’ will do his best to match you with your preferred team. If you’re happy with random waiters or a random table then open seating works as promised, even without a reservation. A reservation made in advance will save you the wait while the maître d looks for an available table to seat you when you arrive.
  12. on the previous voyage they were offering 15% off in the shops “for this voyage only.” at the start of this they still said the same thing but i noticed last night they had changed to:
  13. we were in Gijon yesterday (Wednesday 26 Oct) the shuttle bus into town dropped us near this sign.
  14. Yes it is! And yes you may. (Thank you!) we are in our “Maiden call” to Santander today….
  15. A few pix from A Coruña (Tuesday 25th) we took the excursion to Santiago de Compostela. another rainbow appeared during dinner.
  16. Oops. I blame the spotty internet but the reality is we’ve had busy days. Crossing the bay of biscay was only a bit bumpy over night. It was mostly sunny and relatively flat. lunch at the aft in Britannia.
  17. There’s a post of us leaving Andalsnes at sunset. Then the sun set so there wasn’t much to see/photograph on the way out of the fjord. The “Romsdalsfjord cruise-by” was just the sail out of Andalsnes in the dark. (Or twilight if you were inclined to be charitable.)
  18. Not much at all that I saw or remember. But then we didn’t do much apart from drive to the cable car and go up and down. we had an excellent insight lecturer and he did give a very well attended and appreciated talk on Norway during ww2. (And a few other war and espionage themed talks. all great.)
  19. Guess what? There are bears in the shop! 😊😊😊
  20. The weather cleared as we sailed out to a beautiful sunset. But right now things are getting a bit stormy.
  21. Surprise! I’m still onboard. What a difference doing a back to back makes. No check-in anxiety, no worries about covid testing or declarations. No waiting to get onboard the ship. (And of course no one is doing laundry today!) Thanks cruise critic posters, we are now officially addicted to the duck in the Golden Lion.
  22. Thank you so much. Safely back in Southampton this morning. It was raining when we docked but it had musty stopped by the time people were disembarking. And now I have a surprise for you.
