  1. Taking a flight on the day of the crusie may sound brillantly planned out. An early morning flight, and stright up to the port to board the cruise. No need to pay for hotel, parking charge.

But what happens if there are delays and cancellations...

I'm planning my first cruise in March to the carribean. And trying to get from New York to Florida is a bit of sticky jam..with the high airfares (baggage included).

I don't really wish to stay a night in Florida pre-cruise, seeing as we are planning for a evening flight after our cruise, just to see the Space Center.

So the main question is...do i shift to a pre-cruise night stay? How bad are the delays with US flights from New York to Fort Lauderdale?

    Thank you in advance..

  2. I have only sat with different tablemates before, except it was on Amtrak. And it was a lot of fun. We talked about many things, share a laugh and gather insights, tips on the place. So a good experience after all.

However, I would presume the experience will be the same, this on a larger scale. And I will be looking forward next year when I take my first cruise out to the Caribbean.

Seeing the posts, I think i might opt for alternate days. One day with tablemates and the other day with just the 2 of us. This will no doubt allow us to socialize with other people, but also have some time together.

However I don't know whether Carnival/ Royal Caribbean will accommodate our request.

  3. For us its not that we cant afford to cruise more than once or twice a year, the problem is that we have to fly to get to where we need to be. Its the flight costs that make it so we cant cruise more often... or we would ;)

Yeah same situation here too. In my case, we saved up during the year and usually travel at year end. I live in Asia and the price of a cruise compared to the Caribbean/ Europe is about the same price.

But the problem on getting to another country like the USA from Asia is that we have to spent a bucket load of money on Airfares to get there, along with hotel fares.. it tends to get expensive.

Maybe next time, i will just move to Florida so we need not worry about airfares anymore :P

  4. Hey there fellow members,

I am going on a cruise trip to the Caribbean next year in March 2015 and its my first time cruising there and I need help.

The problem i'm having is that i cant decide which destination is better.

    Labadee : Royal Caribbean

    Half Moon Cay: Carnival

    Castaway Cay : Disney

There are no restrictions to my travel plans, nor the ports of call, just cant decide which island would be better. I will appreciate your help :D
