  1. Does anyone know if the Carnival items in The Fun Shops online are also sold on the ship? Specifically I'm looking for the painted wine glass and Christmas ornaments. I'd like to purchase them but may as well wait until I'm on the ship if possible. Thanks.

  2. I'm going on my first cruise April 28th. (Carnival Paradise) I've read topic after topic on tipping but I want to make sure I've got it straight.

We pre paid our gratuities. When we sign our bills, (for dining or whatever) is there a spot to leave a tip? Is a tip added making it appear like we are double tipping? How do they know we've pre paid? I don't want to not leave a tip and look like a jerk because I don't know how the system works.

I know room service, bar service, porters, etc are not included in pre paid.

I do intend to tip my steward and possibly wait staff additional $$.

Thanks in advance. I don't want anyone to get stiffed and I also don't want to end up double tipping.

  3. Be sure to try the coconut ice cream for dessert, it was awesome! Can't wait to go back in a month.

    I love coconut!

  4. I'm going to Cozumel for the very first time and am pretty sold on Nachis over Mr. Sanchos. I'm looking for a little bit of peace and relaxation over the party crowd and lots of kids running around.

Does anyone have a food/drink menu for Nachis?

Do you know if they have lockers available?

How do we get back to the ship? I know it's a little off the beaten path.

Thank you in advance! 41 days to Carnival Paradise!

  5. I've researched this quite a bit and decided on a taxi vs. the Carnival shuttle. It's way cheaper to take a cab. I too will be making a pit stop on the way to the port for a couple bottles of wine.

One question I'm not sure about- is it just as easy to get a cab at the port after the cruise or do I need to make arrangements beforehand?

  6. I applied for a passport and paid for it to be expedited (USA) and had it in 10 days. I think it was about $60 extra. I live in Ohio and it was sent to Philadelphia for processing. I think for July you'd be fine without paying to expedite.

  7. I'm taking my first ever cruise in April. Our flight lands in Tampa around 8 am. We will probably grab a bite to eat at the airport, then take a taxi to the port after making a pit stop at a grocery for some wine to carry on the ship.

Our flight lands so early because it was the only non stop flight that day. How early is too early to get to the port? Is there somewhere at the terminal for us to sit and wait?

I'm not expecting/wanting to board any earlier just because we had an early flight. Are we better off heading to the port and waiting or killing time at the airport?

  8. They have 2 new styles of the TOMS sandal- they also have wedge sandals. I got a pair of the new t-strap one and they have a lot of cushion IMO, but I can wear TOMS all day, every day. I find them more comfortable than sneakers but know they feel different on other people.

I actually have 33 pair of TOMS lol!

  9. I know there are supposed to be coffee bars on all of the ships, but I can't find the coffee bar on the Paradise deck plans.

I assume they have lattes and such? Are they free? I don't mind paying but I am also purchasing the soda card.

  10. How about take all of this stress off yourself and ask the couple who you are traveling with and booked late to be the ones to request the switch? You did your due diligence by booking first. If the other people won't switch, I'd still send something letting them know there are no hard feelings about not switching. I would never be offended if I was asked to switch but would feel guilty if I couldn't for whatever reason. Knowing it wasn't a big deal would help.

  11. I am going on my very first cruise in April. I'll be going on the Carnival Paradise. I understand that it is a cashless boat, so do we need to take out a bunch of money for the casino before we go? Obviously we will be bringing cash for extra tips and shopping at ports of call, but if rather not travel with a bunch of cash. Is there a way to get money for the casino once on board?
