Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Do you mind to explain what this means to this layperson...lol? Does it mean that if we have iPhones with iMessage that we can text for free on the ship while in airplane mode? We only need to be able to text with my sons (also cruising with us) while on the ship and don't need a full internet package if at all possible. All 4 of us have iPhones.
  2. Great idea! We have decided to ride SAS from POM to FLL and rent a car from there until our flight later that night.
  3. For our post-cruise at POM, we are looking into activities to fill the time prior to our flight at FLL at 8:30p.m. that will also have space for our luggage. The cruise has an excursion for this scenario but we have all been on a similar excursion so we would prefer something different. Any ideas on where we could go/do? The hotel day passes are not really looking like a preferred option, but we are open to hearing from experiences from others. We are also not really into shopping if that helps with suggestions.
  4. It says that the FCC may not be issued until around 45 days which would be past our cruise date but that is a great idea! I am going to look into this further.
  5. Technically I could but I would only get FCC not a refund. It is something I am debating. We are not frequent cruisers so I am not sure this is the best option for us.
  6. So my situation is that for my cruise next month, it is cheaper now for 2 GTY balconies than the 1 GTY balcony that I paid for. I wanted to move the 3 & 4 passengers in my room to a second room but they won't do it. I fall within the CWC guidelines and past final payment. Part of the issue is that technically the GTY balcony category with my TA is neighborhood (which I didn't realize until after booking) and on Royal's website even though it just says GTY balcony, it must be an oceanview balcony so they will not make the change. Very frustrating to know that had I booked now, I would be getting 2 rooms for the same category at a cheaper price. They don't have any GTY balcony rooms available now for 4 people so technically I don't think I can reprice either.
  7. If you decide on Hyatt Place, book through ValueTrips.com. You can't beat their rates!
  8. Looks like you can't now for 4 people for this cruise but you could a few months ago when we booked with a TA.
  9. So after 3 1/2 hours tonight working with our TA, RCCL considers the change a "refare" so they want to charge me what the price would have been for both rooms in February with my original booking instead of what it is today since I am past final payment- cruise is a little less than 2 months away. That amount is a few hundred dollars more and at this point I was very frustrated and just decided to keep things the same for now. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. If I can muster up the patience to try for an interior room instead at a different time I may do that.
  10. I am fairly new to cruising. It's been over 6 years since our last cruise so our children were younger and getting more than 1 cabin was not even an option for us back then. So when I booked a cruise on the Symphony for this summer I didn't even think about booking 2 cabins now that my boys are 12 and 19. I booked a GTY balcony. Mistake number 1 was I thought it would be ocean view. It will likely be a neighborhood balcony which we are ok with now. But after looking at the prices, I could get 2 GTY balconies for only $50 more. 1) I am not sure I could even change my reservation without a fee of some sort. I did book in February so have the CWC so I think I can with no problem for the same sailing 2) If I could make the changes without a huge fee, I worry that the rooms would be too far apart from each other. I really don't want to pay the extra $$$$ to pick our own rooms. So basically I am wondering, will I regret having my family (my husband and 12 & 19 year old sons) all in the same cabin together? I'm thinking since I am the only one that takes longer than 10 minutes to get ready that we should be ok with just 1 bathroom for the most part. It just seems like we may be in the minority of having 3 adults and 1 pre-teen in just 1 cabin together so I am really questioning getting the second cabin. Will we all feel crammed and miserable? Anyone else here cruised with 3-4 in a room with no small children?
