  1. In September we can have some very warm days. Evenings cool down so a sweater and perhaps a windbreaker jacket. We can also get rain from hurricane leftovers coming up the eastern seaboard. Out at sea may be windier/chilly in the mornings and evenings.

    Hope you enjoy the visit

  2. Any meal that I don't have to shop for, prepare, cook, serve, clean up after and do the dishes is a good meal ;) There has been the odd new food that I've tried that I wasn't fussy on but it's not something I would even try at home. There has never been a meal where I haven't found something that I liked.

When I'm in the US I enjoy Applebee's.......Maybe the finer dining in a mess hall on rations has made me appreciate cruise ship food and chain restaurants more than some....:p

  3. Ok.....Maybe I'm weird... I get up really early, get a coffee and go out on deck to watch the sunrise over the ocean ( because it's a sea day I can nap later on a lounger in the shade or in my room). When hubby gets up then we go for breakfast....hang out at the adult pool, have a frozen drink. Read, cat nap, lunch. Check out the shops maybe.......more pool or hot tub time. If there's something in the Fun Times that interests us we may go...... Everything is unscheduled except the sun rise and sun set....... and probably the movie in the evening.

The pictures I have seen of the Serenity on the Sunshine makes me believe that I may spend more time there on that ship.

  4. Bermuda is a great place to go and we want to go back but next time will do smaller ship so we can dock in Hamilton.[/quote

The HAL Veendam from Boston docks at Front Street in Hamilton. The cruises for 2017 are already on their website. Very convenient to bus station (main one) and the ferry. There was a nice little pub across the street that we visited in the evening.....the had a few outside tables where we sat but we could hear the live music.....

  5. St Kitts does. I believe there might be some in St Lucia as well .... if I remember right our guide said they imported the white sand from Guyana to cover the beach I was on in St Lucia because tourists didn't like the black sand as much......

  6. Walk out the front door turn left then a few steps to the main street ocean front and turn right ... CVS is just a minute or two walk and will be on your right side (past Senior Frog's)..ocean is on your left so very easy to find....you will see Subway basically across the street from CVS.

Exactly.... and apparently there was a place to get good ice cream near the Subway as well - I didn't notice it but heard about it on the ship.

  7. Food at the hotel is VERY expensive and the two days I was there the service seemed very slow. Across from the CVS is a Subway. They had a good breakfast at pretty well " normal" prices. Our room did not have a fridge or microwave. If I remember right CVS had some food like sandwiches, etc? Hope I'm not mixing get it up with another CVS.

As I mentioned, the restaurant at the hotel was expensive, but I still splurged on the price of a carafe of coffee so I could sit out on the 2nd floor terrace off the dining room and watch the street and Harbour. It was beautiful......

  8. We were advised by a friend to get the " blister packs" that the pharmacy can do up. The labels are on the back of the card. I'll try to find a photo or link and add it to this post. Have never tried doing that type of thing on a tablet so may be trial and error.....

Not can't get image to save but if you type prescription medications blister packs several photos will come up. Sorry..........

  9. Just heard that both bridges are blocked by military. Airport(s) closed. I thought I heard them say Twitter and similar things blocked. And this comes on the heels of the tragedy in Nice... Trying times.

  10. After being on the triumph when the fire happened, I can't cruise without a balcony. I need to have a safe place to sleep outside if necessary. We had an inside cabin on deck 2. It was so hot & sewage filled we couldn't return to it even a few hours after the fire, much less sleep there. I wish I could go back to an inside & save $ and have that great dark hole for sleeping but I get anxious even thinking about it.

    Perfectly understandable.....

  11. I have done and inside, porthole and balcony.

Best sleep was inside.....only problem was if you woke up you had no clue if it was 3am or 10am. My alarm clock that projects on the ceiling is going on my next trip.

Porthole - don't really remember much -it was 1973 and just a few years have slipped by since.

Balcony -booked one on my last cruise. I think we may have only spent 30 minutes total out there....the rest of the time we were out and about or sleeping. I found it either very hot or very windy. I did enjoy it the short time I was on it but for the amount of time it got used and the price difference I don't think I'd book one again

I think I'd be happy with an obstructed OV - I'd at least know whether to roll over and get more beauty sleep or rise'n'shine:)

  12. Last year there were a couple of families with kids on board (and I think the may have been younger than your grand kids) I can say that the pool wasn't crowded (good thing for kids). They seemed pretty happy when ever we saw them. The other poster was correct in that docking in Hamilton puts you about 2 blocks from the central bus station which makes hopping around the island easy.....you can buy passes that are good for 3 days with unlimited use of buses and ferries. I would check out the website for the buses just to make sure nothing has changed recently...... Enjoy Bermuda - I love it there.
