  1. But Viking isn't under the CCL umbrella, and frankly...most of the forum regulars here won't open up their purse strings to pay for Viking.
  2. With all these similar lines under the CCL umbrella...make HAL adult-only. It provides an alternative to Virgin, and it's a win-win as older folks who want to travel with grandkids will still spend money in the company (probably with Princess).
  3. I was listening to my local NPR station last night and they were having a membership drive. You know...please donate to support public radio. PBS does it all the time too. And let's be honest, public radio/television hosts actually grovel for donations. Anyway, as a frequent consumer of NPR/PBS...I think I just changed my initial perception on HAL employees asking for great reviews.
  4. I guess HAL is banking on all the folks with HIA to not care, but if you're paying by the drink - well this is frankly BS, and worthy of a lot more attention than a new Italian menu or added fee for an extra app in the steak house. At least HAL doesn't blatantly lie about that.
  5. Interest piqued. Never thought about this, but most beer comes in 12 ounce bottles. HAL's literature promises 16oz? Maybe they meant their drafts? I'd like to see a photo of the advertisement.
  6. Let me know when they have to put body bags in the meat locker. Until then...meh.
  7. It’s 1:34 AM on the Oosterdam right now. This evening I’m sure plenty of folks on the ship will post their answers…probably because they will have nothing better to do. 🤣
  8. So there's a thin line between Carnival pax and HAL pax? 🤷‍♂️
  9. So if your bedroom had a view you'd eat in it? Well, if your bedroom had this incredible view, than why wouldn't your dining room or kitchen have that same view? I don't know, call me weird, but I do bedroom activities in the bedroom...bathroom activities in the bathroom, and hence my aversion to eating where I sleep. Plus, I know you balcony diners think it's okay to leave your plates in the hallway, so yea, my bias is showing.
  10. One cruise, with mixed reviews, and they still got you.
  11. Any updates on the library renovation would be greatly appreciated.
  12. A little Saturday divergence... I don't eat in my bedroom at home, so why would I want to eat in my floating bedroom?
  13. As somebody who has sailed in two Vista Suites, I can assure you that you're wrong.
  14. This ☝️ On both my Alaska and Eastern Caribbean cruise. Probably the same folks who complain about chair hogs at the pool!
  15. Everybody is answering assuming you are considering the Quench Package. If you're doing the Coca Cola Package, see above.
  16. Whoa... The Coca-Cola Package gives you "Enjoy unlimited refills of fountain soda for the duration of your voyage. The package is for unlimited fountain soda and does not include canned or bottled items."
  17. It's 2023, and we're still arguing about masks? As if we needed any more proof the human race has peaked.
  18. I can respect the complainers and the grumps as it's just an opinion and they have the right to say and share it. Where I lose respect is the lack of conviction from these complainers and grumps who still give HAL their money even though they said they won't sail again. I mean, if your word means nothing, what are you?
  19. Full disclosure - when I read that you didn't take the Inside Passage north, I thought you didn't know what you were talking about since I did this cruise in 2022 and it did. Now I'm reading in another thread that indeed the Koningsdam sailed west of Vancouver northbound. HAL's decision is utter BS in my opinion (especially since they didn't tell you, and they still aren't advertising future cruises like that), and my apologies for the judgment (although I only thought it and didn't say it).
  20. I'm booked for the 22 July cruise. 100% agree - if I wanted to sail west of Vancouver I would have paid a whole lot less and sailed out of Seattle (cheaper hotel, cheaper flight, cheaper cruise). It is false advertising and unlike half of the folks on this forum...I won't complain about HAL and still give it my money. Your move, HAL.
  21. It's the office equivalent of when one of your absolute worst co-workers tries to transfer to another location, and when the potentially new office management/employees call in to ask questions, the old office management/employees respond with nothing but the most positive accolades.
  22. I'll bet you a beer they didn't do the Tracy Arm excursion because of ice, but according to Allen Marine they are supposed to go up Endicott as a backup, and I understand they didn't do that either. "In the event that unpredictable and ever-changing ice conditions preclude your cruise ship from entering Tracy Arm Fjord, the tour will be modified to explore Endicott Arm, a fjord and tidewater glacier of equal beauty." https://allenmarinetours.com/juneau/glacier-fjord/#gsc.tab=0
  23. Makes sense - in the restaurant biz - turnaround more tables, get more tips. I would be very curious to see what folks tip on long cruises, because if folks tip $50-100 on a 7-day, I too can't believe that folks would tip $914-1828 on a 128-day Grand. Who wants to confess?
  24. For all the children being children folks... I barely like my own kids, so what makes you think I'm going to like yours?
  25. Cruise lines are like religions. People feel guilt for leaving regardless of the facts, but both God and HAL know you'll eventually come back.
