A little late to the game, but loving your review!

They're a bit annoying to redeem and you can only use them for specific things. My brother got one for my husband and we could not use it in cruise planner for booking excursions or drink packages. We were told we could have used it towards the cost of paying off the cruise, but we had already paid in full at that point. We had to wait and use it as OBC (and you have to redeem it at least 10 days prior to your cruise or you can't use it on board, allegedly).
Mine had no listed expiration date that I can recall. We used it about 8 months after we got it.
That's good to know. Thanks! When I hear gift certificate, I think expiration date as opposed to a gift card.
-
If you are referring to one of those discounted gift certificates through AARP or Verizon, you need to call a special number to book and you can't use a TA.
Thanks! Sorry, I mean the ones through RC website.
-
Good to know. Perhaps I will hold off on this then, and think of another way.
Thanks!

Hi all!
I am thinking of getting my husband a gift certificate for RC for his birthday and Father's Day. Does anyone know if these expire at all? Or are the good until you use them?
Thanks! :):):)

Really excited to read about this. We are thinking about taking a cruise on Anthem within the next year or so.
-
I'd love these too! A nice substitute until I can get on another cruise.

I really like the different opinions and I'm glad everyone is honest with how they feel about it.
The honest opinions will help us weigh it out one way or another. I just didn't want to be glamoured into the hype the card says and then find it isn't anything worth while in achieving.
BUT knowing others have achieved free cruises while some only think it's good for OBC does help me question how much we would actually use it and if it'd be worth having.
So thank you all again! This is a HUGE help!

Your review really makes me want to take a cruise on Anthem! Thank you so much for sharing :)
Looks like you had a great time!

One other thing about the card. If you have OBC left at the end of the cruise, RCCI will refund the balance in cash at Customer Service Desk the last night of the cruise or credit it back to the CC after the cruise. So if you don't spend all of the OBC, you get it back. Pretty good deal, I would say.
That is really good to know!

This has been really helpful! Thanks all! :)
We're planning on a cruise in the spring, but before booking I wanted to make sure it was worth applying for the card and booking the cruise on it. :)
-
Thanks all!
We would use it and pay it off right away to avoid interest. But it is good to know about the OBC and discounts.
I know some credit cards suck you in with certain things and then make it completely unattainable. That is why I wanted to check.
It'd be nice to use it to book our cruises and then earn points towards OBC. So I figured I'd ask the experts :D
-
Alright, out of curiosity...
Does anyone have the cc? If so, do you like it and is it worth it?
The husband and I were debating getting it for an upcoming cruise, but I want to know if it is even worth the time.

Maybe you should give Carnival, NCL or Princess a try.
Hahaha! It is looking that way, isn't it? :p:rolleyes:

Kayla, I had an issue on our network at one point where we couldn't get a particular browser to work. The only thing that worked was to take down our network. Once we brought the network back up, problem was solved. If you are on a home network, it might be worth a shot. Really just a shot in the dark, but might be worth it, if you have access to the network.
Thank you! I will have to give that a shot tonight!

Have you tried an Apple?
Yeah, I tried that too. I'm stumped.

Loving the review so far! :)

I am loving your review! And the photo of you in 2004 to 2016 is so cute!

Yes - exactly. I have to call to find out simple pricing and planning info. That's a slow and annoying way to do it - so I have been less interested in trying.
Same! I've thought about going through a TA or another travel website, but I've always just booked directly on Royal's website.
-
You are not alone! I have had this exact problem for weeks. I have tried all of the fixes that were suggested above - but to no avail. Same problem regardless of which computer I use (I've tried Mac, PC, tablet, etc). Super annoying.
It is awful, isn't it?! I just want to look at pricing and such so we can decide what we want to do stateroom wise, but I can't even get that far.

Good choice. We're going on our 9th Annual Family Weekend Cruise in four days on Enchantment, even though we live in Orlando. It's a no-brainer for us. I think the difference in ships is well worth the longer drive to Miami.
We have to fly either way, but it is nice to get a consensus on which would be better to take his parents on their first cruise.

I've tried with Chrome, Firefox and IE.
It may just be my internet connection. I will just try again later on a different computer. Just glad it's only me and not everyone!

No problems for me using Firefox on Windows 7, with Flash disabled.
I'm narrowing it down to my computer hates me!
