Yup, you read that right...still here...still day 1!

Our time on the elliptical machine burned exactly 1/2 the calories we would next consume at the Ben and Jerry's at the Cafe Lattetudes. We were in fitness clothes (I know, ridiculous, huh?) so rather than muck up the classy atmosphere of the Centrum with our sweaty duds, we went to the solarium to enjoy the ice cream.

The top right flavors you can't read because on my "glaringly" bad photo are vanilla and Phish food. Luckily, unlike the sweets and the desserts at the WJ, they did not run out of B&J's (probably because it costs extra) or I can not say what I might have done:mad:

Expect a pretty hearty line here in the mornings. They usually have 2 people on, but they don't move as swiftly as the baristas at your local shop! But there is a nice place to sit and the internet cafe right nearby.

The solarium was pretty hopping at night. When Enchantment was STRE___TCH___ED some Oasis-style features were added, including the great Park Cafe. I loved having one on board and it's open for breakfast, lunch on sea days and "snacks" mid afternoon and late night (pretty much anytime when the WJ is closed) It fits here in the sense that it feels most "park-like" in the Solarium.

But I'll be honest when you retrofit a ship, the way Enchantment was, you get unintended consequences. In this case the Solarium at late night turns in to a parade of kids (they youngest with their parents, but the older teens on their own) coming for free snacks, or looking for other teens there. It is not the restful adult only environment found on ship these changes were modeled after (Oasis) because a prime teen spot is (cafe) is located in a supposed "adult only area" rather than on a Royal Promenade or sports deck somewhere else on the ship. So during the day, and at night when the Park Cafe is open, there is a constant flow of people, including kids coming and going; which is fine, except it really isn't what was intended for the Solarium.

After the ice cream DD headed out for a stroll on the upper jogging deck and then went in to listen to the band in the Centrum. After that we headed back to our cabin and to get ready for Cococay! And day 1 is FINALLY done!!

I'm thrilled to know they have Chai on the cruise haha! I was seriously wandering that because I need my tea in the morning or I'm just grouchy!

  2. Try talking him into flying in a day early and do the fly/snooze/cruise package from either Courtyard or Comfort Inn in Cocoa Beach. Just booked and it was 203.00 for 1 nights stay round trip transportation from/to MCO and shuttle to the port day of cruise.

No hassles and you will be more rested to start your cruise.

That sounds like a good idea. But we already booked our flights

  3. We already have gifts we received through them and already sent out the invitations with the honeymoon registry information. So we can't change where we are registered.

We aren't using a travel agent so that's not an option for us to ask one.

I will have to deal with the fees I guess :(

  4. I would LOVE to be able to book everything before we get on the ship so that we don't have any issues. I heard that it can sometimes take days to show up on your Sea Pass card. Is that true?

Also, tekeella what was some of your favorite things to use it for?

  5. Has anyone used this?

We signed up for it and have heard good things. But I am curious as if anyone here has used it. And maybe give me some more insight as to how it works.

We received a few gifts on it for Christmas but I know we can't make any reservations until we get on board. I haven't cruised since 2007 and this is my fiance's (soon to be husband's first time) so any insight would rock! :)

  6. Are there cabanas or other types of shelters available to rent on Coco Cay. We're a family of red heads and don't do sun very well.

I'm with you on this one. We don't sun well. I am glad to hear that there are plenty of shaded areas!

  7. Unless you are flying in at least a day early for your cruise I would not bother with a car rental -- to fly in that morning (or afternoon ) and try to rent a car, drive an hour, gas up, return the car and then shuttle to the port is not how I'd like to start my honeymoon.

That said, if you flights are not booked be sure to be a smart cruiser and fly in at least a day early - you never know when flight delays or cancellations or mechanical issues or crew issues or missed connections, etc... will cause you to arrive late and miss the ship!

We are flying in early that morning. Our flight is supposed to land around 9:00 am the day of the cruise. I was a little worried about that to begin with, but my fiance doesn't want to leave the night before.

I hope nothing causes delays  But, we did get RC insurance in case we need to get another flight to catch our cruise. But it still scares the crap out of me.

  8. Thank you! I will have to do some research on these. We already rented a car for after the cruise because we are spending a few extra days in Florida going to Kennedy Space Center and such. But I will look into the price differences.

Also, thank you for listing the popular shuttle services! It will be a big help when we decide what we want to do :)
