  1. My take is that this is something that RCL is missing out on. While I don't wish to take a 'sack lunch' with me for every port, there are some excursions that would ideal for a 'carry out'.

This is another item of the product mix that could/should be explored. It could be a revenue stream for them and yet also provide another layer of customer service as well. A win-win in anyone's book. RCL offering 'box lunches' with prepackaged items w/ including bottle watered would work.

  2. I've made reservations that can be cancelled w/ no penalty for a two night pre-cruise stay. I've heard the towers are best for viewing the ships & the Water Taxi has a stop. Two good things. I've also heard that the rooms are somewhat outdated or blah but the staff is above average. All things equalled it doesn't sound to0 bad of a place. Is there more to consider though?

To have the best adntage of viewing the Cruise Ships, can anyone offer me the best floor, side of hotel, or perhaps even a room number?

  3. The first time I booked a guarantee room I dreamed that they took all the numbers off of the doors and I had to use my key in every door on the ship until I found the right room:eek:!

Next cruise, I dreamed that my passport had expired, and they made me swim along behind the ship for the whole cruise.

Seriously busted out laughing. Thanks for getting my day rolling on a good time.

  4. I think hoping for a repeat of last years sales will lead to disappointment for you. Last spring the cruise industry was coming off a series of well publicized Carnival disasters and people were hesitant to cruise. The cruise industry did some amazing sales and the ships filled back up. I personally think there is close to a 0% chance you will see a repeat of the great sales we saw last March-June with RCCL. The ships are sailing pretty filled these days and they do not have to discount rooms much at all to sell them now.

This is true but eventually the sail dates will pass us all up. I agree that a tremendous amount of cabins were filled fleet wide w/ the original low priced BOGOHO sale. May 2014 had some amazing prices. Unfortunately, one could only book so many & only up to April 2016. When the new dates are released (2016 & 2017) the cabins fleet wide will fill up at a much slower rate than May2014 with the current pricing structure. Something will have to give.

  5. Dumb - While in Barcelona, setting our phones on the table in front of us. Within two minutes, they were gone when two men approached us on each side and pulled the "Is this yours?" document on us. We said no and then they picked up the documents along with our phones. We had no clue until a couple of minutes later. They were long gone.

Embarrassing - We were on stage for the Love & Marraige Show. That was embarassing enough, but then they replayed several times on the cabin TVs. We were spotted and recognized all over the ship for the rest of the cruise.

Funny - Our adult kids faces when they heard what we said up on that stage! :D The pictures of their faces are priceless.

  6. I am trying to decide between Liberty April 2016 out of Galveston or Freedom out of Port Canaveral. Same ports except Freedom has 4 stops with the extra one being Labadee. It's myself and my husband traveling with no children were 40ish. Any opinions would be appreciated. Oh and flights about the same to both places.

Freedom is coming out of dry dock now and Liberty is coming out next Feb.

  7. I'm debating about getting the $55 a day drink package. It sounds so convenient no signing, no hauling water & soda on board. Not sure if I would spend $55 a day. Would be interested in hearing about your experience. And can you use it on a coffee liquor after dinner drink?

It dosen't take much to put you at $55 plus gratuity. Having said this, it works great for us in the Caribbean, but the Mediterrean cruise not so much. A 5 port cruise in seven days, I don't think the DW spent her daily totals. I did though.

If you do the math, it works out pretty easy. But you would most like be required to have at least 5 alcohol drinks per day for 7 days. If this is something that you plan to do and can handle, I say go for it.

  8. Hi! Thanks for the question. We'd love to discuss this with you! Can you give us a call to (866)562-7625 with your desired sail date? We're here to help.

    Thanks for offering to assist!

Please tell the Board of Directors that the BOGO sale might be making them a few bucks in the short run, but in the long run, they are confusing their customer base and the sale is being perceived as a bait & switch. Please tell them this.

    Thank you!

  9. The sea, wind, surf, eats/drinks, destinations, no unpacking/packing to vist multiple spots. Basically to chill out.

    On another note,

if I don't like the food, I don't complain, I just request to send it back and re-order something else.

if I don't like the entertainment, I don't complain, I get up and leave.

If I don't like the chair hogs, after 30 mins of no one there, I notify the RCL staff and have them move the towel and then sit down.

Vacations are too short to sweat the small stuff.

  10. I book w/ RCCL and then transfer the Reservation. I've done this twice just to lock down a specific cabin.

I recognize that some feel more comfortable with being able to contact RCCL direct to handle things that may arise, but to be honest, the fine people at RCCL often are not informed, trained etc. So I enjoy going w/ an experienced agent.

OBC, free specialty dinners, etc are nice. Also the selection of your dining time is available through an agent vs RCL as they are pushing everyone into MTD these days.

I saved over $1100 on a cruise to the Med by using an agent vs direct through RCCL on a transferred reservation. That's some savings everyone. I have no idea how this occurred but I received the same cabin.

I think it's a matter of choice for most, but you can save some vaction money through an agent. The key is finding a good agent. When you find one, hang on to them.

  11. I have Googled it, several times, each time to refute it's claims. Have you requested the test information from their home office, since they haven't decided to make them public?

I laugh at their claim that the "emollients" in their products aids in killing the virus. Emollients are softeners, therefore the only good they would do is to loosen the surface tension between the outer layer of skin where the virus is, and the next layer of skin. This is what soap does (it doesn't kill anything, just loosens it to be washed away), but without a rinsing action or even wiping on a towel, an emollient would do nothing to aid in anti-viral action.

I go to the EPA's List of registered agents effective against noro virus to see what the manufacturers have actually been able to prove to the EPA and CDC as being both safe and effective. There are almost no consumer products listed there, and Germstar isn't there. Even consumer products that have ingredients that are effective against noro, have them in such low concentrations that the required contact time is unreasonable for consumer use. This list was updated as of Oct 2014, and has far fewer products on it than previously.

Thanks for the feedback! It may or may not work, but so far we haven't been struck w/ any illnesses while on board. Not saying it's due to this product, but as w/ many other things in the world, I'll use it and take my chances! ;)

  12. We sailed last spring break on the NoS w/ another couple that brought a case of 24 bottles of water. They were told by the porter they couldn't take the water. So they re-shuffled one of their bags a bit and place the case in a large rolling duffle bag. It made it to their cabin along w/ their other luggage.

  13. Standard wipes do not kill noro. Now, you might get rid of a few other germs, but in order to kill noro, wipes need to be 5.25% bleach, so you're talking about a commercial grade solution. Pretty sure no one is bringing that on board...

We use Germstar Noro in the 2 oz spray bottles. It claims to kill 99.99 all germs including ebola.

    Google it.
