  1. Thank you for the replies. I was really hoping that there would be some improvements with the higher pricing. Unfortunately I keep reading about more cutbacks, poor bar service and disappointments at the specialty restaurants.

I am also curious. With more people opting for the alcohol package are you seeing more alcohol fueled incidents?

Prices....Perhaps I'm lucky or something but my currently booked cruises for actually less money than my first cruise two years ago!

Service...My only complaint on service was that in the MDR, we struggled to get a bar service to the table each night. We spoke to the Head Waiter and that was quickly corrected. Not only did the bar service improve, he remembered everyone's drink order.

  2. There is an old saying in the business world; a happy customer tells one person and an unhappy customer tells ten.

This is an old and great quote regarding business. On the other hand, I've listened to some people that complain often about everything. As difficult as it is, I try to keep negative people out of my life or at least at a distance. I also don't know why, but for me personally, the compliment of a business holds hold weight for me than the complaint of a business. So when I hear good things, I hold on to those good thoughts.

  3. I can see what your saying if you must have 4 or more drinks per day.

I can also see others saying they'd rather do without the 4 drinks, or spending $60. per person per day for the drink pkge..

We're lucky at least for now, we have the Casino Club to get free drinks if we want/need, and the D+ bene. of free drinks.

Beyond that, I won't spend a dime on booze.:)

I understand that the drink pkgs are not a one fit all kind of thing. But let's say a couple typically only has 2 drinks a day and they like the expensive drinks or the multi-blended drinks. The cost of these types of drinks increased $2/drink + 3% gratuity. At 2 drinks per day each person, we're talking a difference of $8/day/couple plus 3% gratuity over the previous prices. At 7 days, the increase is shy of $60 for the cruise. While I do understand that this is an increase, I also think that the price increase discussions are somewhat being overblown on the boards.

  4. That's because the drink prices have gone up. Sort of like the BOGOHO. The price of the first one goes up, then the second person is half off. Not any type of real bargain.

At $14+ per drink, the package makes sense if one wants a few drinks. What doesn't make sence is the $14+ Per drink.

I've got to hand it to the RCCL suits for creating a reason for passengers to buy an overpriced drink package.

    M

I've always purhcased the premium pkg, well before the latest price increase. For us, it made sense then and even more so now.

  5. Typical Cruise Critic. Someone actually shares some info while on her cruise and gets criticized left and right by all the perfect posters that would never type the wrong ship name. I too am shocked that a drink would cost that much in a normal 6 inch plastic cup. I could understand it in a souvenir cup. I also appreciate the OP taking time from her cruise to post. Thank you! :)

I am concerned as to just where RCCL is going with this. $800 for a 7 day drink package is not going to win when a person is comparing cruise rates.

They're not $800 either. There sure is alot of mis-information going on in this thread.

I don't doubt the price of the Labadee drinks are the same as the prices on the ship, but I'll believe it when I see it that they are using 6" cups.

  6. 15 US Code 13 Discrimination in Pricing, Services, or Facilities. It is perfectly legal to raise prices to encourage, for instance, big spenders; it is illegal to raise prices "purposely" to discriminate by exclusion against certain individuals or groups, i.e. I don't want to offer services to people from "the poor side of town" so I'll price them out and they can go somewhere else.

    You trolling?

Dinner... McDonalds Big Mac vs Ruth Chris Steak House, both will fill you belly.

Auto... Kia vs Ferrari, both will get you from Point A to Point B

Office space Detroit vs Upper Manhattan, each will offer four walls and a door.

It goes one & on & on & on... please tell us you're trolling.

  7. If you do May 28 out of SJ going down to Aruba curaçao do you get hurricanes?

No. Typically speaking the Hurricane season doesn't kick in until around August - Oct.

    1. Dates

    2. Price/Cost

    3. Ports

We love to go to different ports & explore different cultures, foods and it's people.

  8. And the reason I pay my cruise off early is because the peace of mind of knowing my cruise is PAID IN FULL > than the pennies that money would earn in my account. Thats good enough reason to me :)

I will very likely go ahead and pay my 2016 cruise in full in a couple big installments over the next couple of months and then start working on drink package purchase etc.

It might not make sense to some but it makes sense and works for me so thats all that matters :)

Ha! I'm doing the exact opposite. I paid for the two premium pkgs first for fear they may go up in price as the cruise fare is locked in. :D

  9. Not that I am saying that there is something wrong, it's just that I would rather know the truth to save myself from something that wasn't so perfect as someone would say. Like, Yes I was on deck 8 of the Adventure of the Seas... I had a hump cabin and I will never do it again. I had the center cabin and had a fantastic view up and down the ship so why wouldn't I do it again?

    1) The vibration ( I guess from the engines?) was unbelievable

    2) The sewage smell in the hall and on the balcony

    3) Shall we say... happy people getting off the elevators very late at night.

I am not complaining! Really. It's just next time, I will be getting a room closer to the middle of the ship hoping I don't feel as much as a vibration from the engines and further away form the elevators.

This is all stuff I would like to know before I book so that I can prevent unpleasant experiences and enjoy more.

On a more pleasant note, I love the new chairs on the balconies. They are higher on the back and they recline and the table is taller.

So, I believe that a more honest review to help the next person is way better then a rose colored sunglasses is better. What do you guys think?

Interesting question and how it's worded. It's as if you don't believe some reviews can be 'wonderful'. I take all reviews with a grain of salt. In general, I find most more entertaining than informative.

  10. RCL is still slashing prices. At least they did for the Navigator sailing out of Galveston this Sunday. Take a look a cruise fish dot net. Search any cruise, using a close date and then click on the price for the cabins and a price line graph will pop up showing the history. The Navigator for example, a JS started around $1200, hit about $2300, then drastically dropped back down to $1200 and for a few days, hit $1,000.

  11. Just off the Indy on sunday:

People, please use the hand sanitizer stations in the windjammer and dining rooms. It's for yours and our protection. Don't just walk past them. These are the same people that poop and don't wash their hands I'll bet.

Unless you are 80, use a wheel chair, or a cane please feel free to walk up or down ONE deck using the stairs instead of stopping a full elevator full of people to be so lazy.

Please ditch your beat up Harley Davidson shirt and hockey jersey and show up in the main dining room looking presentable and show respect for once in your life... slobs.

In the Windjammer, don't stand around the buffett holding conversations with 10 of family members blocking traffic and food accessability. Go sit down and get out of the way.

    Thanks ....

So you just got off a cruise ship and this is what you wish to discuss? All the negatives? You really don't sound like my kind of people. I feel bad for those that cruised with you or around you.

  12. Have you ever been on a cruise ship that ran out of alcohol? Though I don't particularly like free pours. I don't drink to get buzzed or drunk. I just want the flavor.

Actually yes. But not all alcohol. But last fall on the Liberty while in the Med, there was only 1/2 bottle left of Crown Royal on the ship. I reached out to the Bar Manager and he asked me which bar that I would like it to be at. (It was at the sky Bar). They actually moved it to the Schooner Bar and kept in the back for me. I though that was pretty cool of them and he apologized but the shipment did not make in before we set sail.
