What a long a$@ day.  Picture 1 was the start of volunteering at the PGA’s Byron Nelson tournament.  Got to the course at 7:00am, left early at almost 3:00.  Got home, showered and immediately walked back out the door to meet my son to attend the Dallas Stars-Las Vegas Golden Knights game (picture 2 is from my seats tonight).

Just got home after a Stars victory, and am scheduled to be right back at the course at 7:00 tomorrow as well as the next 3 days. Looks like we will get wet with all of the rain forecast, or have lots of delays, making the days even longer.

Great seats, great game! Between Stars and Mavs I was happy but stayed up WAAAAY too late last night.... had meetings from 7:30a to 7:15p with class in between, but it was worth it

    1.  I think I went to the Byron Nelson for about 20 straight years and never saw a Golf Ball. Party Pavilion Regular until the tournament left Las Colinas. Oh those were the glorious, golden days in Dallas with unmatched "scenery"

Ahhhh the old pavilion days..... a plastic surgeon's wet dream... the tournament was an afterthot (I know what I did there)

I just made my very long week just a little longer with all of my time on my feet at the Byron Nelson.  Let's go ahead and add tickets to game 5 between the Dallas Stars and the Las Vegas Golden Knights tomorrow night.  My son twisted my arm.

    Now we're talkin'

  4. And just like that, state testing is DONE for the school year! WHEW. Hay’s in the barn now, as they say. Time to gulp these tacos down and spend the rest of the day essentially babysitting. It’s been a busy couple of weeks!

Well Tribe today we leave for our 14-day cruise on the Carnival Spirit.  We go to Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau, Icy Point Strait, Sitka, Valdez and Seward.  We haven't been to the last three so we are looking forward to those.  We enjoy the others also.  Hope you all have a great two weeks.

    Sounds amazing! Enjoy!!

@TxTeach79 Jack Leiter Rangers debut today.

Yup, I'm excited. Earlier than I expected given the rocky road up, but given the injuries, with Winn already up...... I'm happy for him. Hoping for good things. I'm NOT happy about the 12:10 first pitch. What's with Detroit going with all these midweek day games this season?

  7. Quick update…. After school on Tuesday (yes, Tuesday of all days) it was sunny and in the mid 80’s and with so much chaos and change at work right now it was time to get my summer season officially started, and we can only do that one way….. even if it’s a Tuesday.

headed over to my buddy’s place for a few cold ones in the (moderately) hot sun…. Despite a weekend temperature plunge and four more weeks of school, I’m gonna deem this the official start of #PoolSZN.

Oh, and a few days late but also kinda cool - apparently after the Masters win Scottie Scheffler, who’s from Dallas and still lives here, flew home in the exact same outfit he won the thing in - green jacket included - and spent the evening at a dive bar that was literally “my bar” for a stretch of several years. Blew my mind. Thought it was fake for a minute when they posted Sunday night, but it was all over social media by Monday. That private jet life…… side note, I’ve done some TERRIBLE karaoke in that place. Oh, and also, there’s a photo of LBJ looking down above the men’s urinal. Be advised.

@TxTeach79...thought of you today.  I follow a You Tube channel, Cross Timbers Bison in Oklahoma.

The owner, Dusty, was a teacher for many years, when he realized he could support himself via social media You Tube and his love of raising bison, he gave up teaching and is doing what he loves and happier and more $$$ coming in.

Making a living off social media is doable if you are willing to put in the time and effort.  I am happy to just watch and enjoy and hit the like so they can earn some $$$.

If i had the time and the ability, believe me..... I'd strongly consider it 😂

I think Kate Winslet is one of the top actresses working today.  I can't think of one thing of hers I haven't liked.  Same goes for Denzel Washington, Billy Bob Thornton, Merryl Streep, or Leonardo DiCaprio.

Agree. Recently, Mare of Easttown was ELITE.

  10. State testing day, so naturally the wifi, wired internet, and phones went down for the better part of 7:25-12:45. It came back up just long enough to convince people that we should start testing, then immediately crashed again. Chaos. Had to cancel testing and will try and complete it on the "makeup" day Thursday.

Meanwhile, since 6th graders weren't testing, and I didn't have the ability to print (their assignments are all online) or play a video, I improved a trivia "game show" using my phone and breaking them into groups. One sweaty half day of going lo-fi and wrangling about 100 11-12 years olds later, I've been asked to cover ISS (in school suspension) on my lone off period, so we've got ourselves a day! At least I have this moment of zen during advisory (study hall) to check in and disassociate. And it IS a beautiful day outside (from what I hear - I don't have windows).

  11. It USED to (as in one year ago) be $15, otherwise I wasn't charged the $3 overage. I've seen it in Pig & Anchor on the Vista and Excel class ships and in the steakhouses on Conquest and Spirit class ships. Drank it so much on Glory last March they gave me the little horse when the bottle was gone 🙂

This morning, Andrew's middle school was evacuated twice before school started. He was there early for his weekly French horn private lesson. I thought for sure they were finally having one of the toilet disasters your school has every other week, but no, it was just a faulty smoke detector. I asked him about the bathrooms, and he says the stuff you deal with hasn't happened in his school - yet. We live in Lewisville ISD.

Yeah, things happen.. I'm familiar with the faulty smoke detector for sure...  we're the oldest building in my district still functioning as a school, so things especially happen here. Depending on how the upcoming bond election goes, we MAY have a new building in a couple years. We shall see! #fingerscrossed

    Happy Monday Tribe!

Question - anyone familiar with the "Whats App" and if so do you recommend, is it user friendly, even for a senior gal?

I am hesitant on what I download in today's world, for many different reasons.

    Thanks!

It's a great way to chat with people internationally, that's primarily what I've used it for over the years. Essentially a chat app without using your phone number to text.

  14. Little weekend recap out this way…. Spent all day (7-4) Saturday proctoring tests and wrangling my kids at the district Academic Pentathlon competition, which was a grind but ultimately rewarding seeing a couple kids get recognition for all the hard work they’ve put in studying this year.

I was pretty exhausted (hadn’t slept well at all the previous two nights), but fought through it and hit a local burger joint with B for my Black & Bleu, which was insanely juicy and brought me back to life.

lazy night in watching The Nice Guys (one of my favorites of the last decade easy) and catching up on some much needed sleep. Today, we slept in and hit a little diner/brunch spot a couple minutes from B’s… its inside this old building that was a greasy spoon I grew up going to, but has had quite the facelift

we beat the crowds, there were people spilling outside by the time we left. Got some coffee and hit the weekly specials insert…

I went with the Chicken Bang Bang, and ol’ California B (fittingly) with the SoCal Sando. Both were awesome! We’ll definitely be back.

then it was back home for laundry, planning the week’s lessons (5 weeks to go, not that I’m counting), and a cauldron of golf and basketball fun on TV. Let’s have a good one!
