Getting antsy and the time is moving back in the right direction, so Fransisco’s got me. I had an incident once when the airline delayed me by an hour or so but then just basically said “never mind, we’re putting this flight on a new plane” and we left on time. Ever since then I’ve been just a little wary of buying 100% into delays when I’m not at the airport yet

living in Dallas, SWA is just super convenient and easy for domestic flights, and I’ve had good luck and years of experience with the cattle call… but the past couple years have been rough for sure, the Christmas week debacle in ‘22 at the forefront

your guess is as good as mine. I’ve been canceled before, I’ve been delayed til after midnight, I’ve been offered vouchers, and most recently I was allowed to change to a flight the following day for free because the delay was getting excessive. No idea in this case. We’re up a to 12:11 CDT arrival now.

yeah, I’m with you on Jewel class! I liked Breakaway a lot too but didn’t like the pool area and the bars were always slammed like this cruise. There’s definitely a massive jump between Sun and Jewel class, while the Jewel class still has a lot of the “new” stuff the big ships do. I’m so glad you said that!! From video tours I’ve watched I specifically noted the Pergola Bar as a place that looks super inviting and off the beaten path.

Just lost the room at 5…. Now that I’m even an hour farther from flying out, I guess I’m gonna chill in the lobby a bit… I could sit at the bar and have a few and watch games, but tomorrow is gonna be rough enough as it is…

Here’s the good news….

I discovered this after an Alaska cruise a couple years ago when we had a late flight…. There are multiple sites - hotels by day, dayuse - that do it. It’s a set price and a set window… so for instance I paid $110 for 10a-5p for this one. You get all the privileges of a normal guest, and you have a comfortable home base for the day. I dig it, especially a day like today where I’m heading home and need to get some work done for the week ahead.

Here were the remnants from last night after I gave up on the wifi..: finally, I ended things with “elevator button behind a railing”

So let me look at timestamps to really put this in perspective…. Took the last photo of my cabin at 7:59. Stepped off the ship at 8:02. Through customs and waiting for my Uber outside at 8:11. Walked into my hotel at 8:30. In my room at 8:35. pretty amazing. From sitting on the bed on deck 4 of the Sun to sitting on the bed at my hotel in Midtown Miami in 36 minutes. Small ship life! also, I wasn’t supposed to be able to check in til 10am and he checked me in anyway. Bonus. I have the room til 5, I have access to the rooftop pool, which is nice, but I also can just be exceptionally lazy all day which is also nice especially since I have to work tomorrow.
