Cadiz brings back memories... It was the one place in Spain we had paella. I was enjoying my lunch when Mrs. Schmoopie noticed the sign that said "No Credit Cards". Great...I had left all of our euros in the ship safe. Oops. There were no ATMs in the immediate area (according to our waiter)...but luckily I spied a couple eating two tables away who we had passed several times on the ship. Being desperate (and more than a little sheepish), I asked if we could borrow some money and we'd pay them back when we returned to the ship. I was expecting a, "Are you serious? I don't hand money to strangers" reply. Instead, I got, "Sure...no problem. Is a hundred enough?" That couple ended up being on two of our excursions in the days that followed. I just hope he doesn't hunt me down for the 100 euros I still owe him 😁.

NCL dropped a destination weeks before cruising

Unfortunately they kept Acapulco for our Panama Canal cruise. We decided to stay on the ship...and unfortunately, so did the majority of the passengers. So much for having the ship to ourselves. -
NCL Epic Mediterrannean Cruise Questions

Another tip. Go to your Roll Call and see what others are saying... https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/66-norwegian-cruise-line-roll-calls/ -
We spent 14 days on the Jade a little over a month ago. Great ship...awesome service and food. Do yourself a favor and stop by the Martini bar and ask for Shane. Best bartender we've ever had on NCL. We would sit at the bar and within two minutes of sitting down, he'd have our drinks in front of us without even having to order. Say "Hi" from "Bulliet on the Rocks" (me) and "Cosmo with a lime" (Mrs. Schmoopie).

You must be new around here...then realizing you only joined two hours ago. 😁 This has been a hot topic on this board lately. Numerous threads about cancelled/revised itineraries, especially after final payment. As stated above, they reserve the right to pretty much do whatever they want/need to do in regard to port stops. I'm also surprised they offered $100 (for your convenience, of course). -
We're doing a Rome to Rome (actually Civitavecchia to Civitavecchia) in September. As for Mrs.Schmoopie, thank you for asking. Her recovery has been slow but somewhat steady...even though her injury was nine months ago, and they say in the best circumstances it can be a year to recover from a tibial plateau fracture. (Best circumstances include being a young kid. which most assuredly she is not. But then again, neither am I...but so far I've been able to avoid fractures of any kind. That sound you hear is me knocking on wood). Keeping my fingers crossed that she will be able to get around better than on our cruise last month. (Which makes typing even more difficult than normal).

Where did you get the onboard credit from? If it's from a travel agent and is "refundable", then the answer is most likely "yes". If it's classified as "Non-refundable" (I.e. Stockholder OBC, etc.), then the answer is most likely no. Of course, Stockholder OBC is always either $100 or $250...so this must be something else.

A better question would be, "What was the last name of the Everly Brothers?" 😁 Sorry for being late to the party (don't know how I missed this thread, since I love your trip reports...and your dad...since he reminds me so much of myself. Both of us are grumpy, hate having our hair messed up...and love beer.) Great minds...

Goodbye NCL and Possibly Cruising Altogether Rant One

I guess that qualifies as the "bear" necessities. But I'm waiting for the bear to thing a thong...🎶 -
Are you sure about that? For example, we're equidistant between ORD and MKE. When we book NCL BOGO, they always ask which airport we want. We choose ORD, since there are far more choices of direct or non-stop flights, especially overseas. They always assign ORD...even though it would probably be cheaper for them to put you on flights with worse times and with more connections out of MKE.

Canceling a cruise when using CruiseNext as deposit

I assume the same goes for CruiseFirst? -
Great idea. Nice way to "extend" your cruise after you get home.

Can you get cash onboard the ship

ATM also acts as a change dispenser. Last cruise pretty much all I had were twenties. I wanted small bills for incidentals/tips and the ATM broke a couple of twenties...no charge.
