  1. We've cruised so many times with the ones pictured above. They were confiscated on our Liberty cruise in August. I was annoyed LOL. If you are going to try to bring something, always put it in checked luggage. I swear that's why ours was taken. First time having it in the carryon.
  2. $56 a day is great! I haven't see a drink package that low since they started sailing again during covid. The cheapest my past few cruises have been was $74.99 a day. I would 100% book it at that price.
  3. We just got off the Liberty on Saturday. We lost Haiti months ago and it was replaced with Grand Turk, then the night before the cruise we lost Bermuda because of the storm. We ended up getting a second day at Grand Turks. Nothing was said in the email about any compensation but the second day on the ship we got port taxes back ($62 per person). We cruise during hurricane season so we've seen lots of port changes. We almost always get the port fees back but it's never said beforehand. it just magically appears as a credit on our account the 2nd or 3rd day. Our Liberty cruise in September go rerouted to Canada instead of Bermuda and we only got $100 per person back. The cruise before us got half their fare back. Tried to fight it when we got home and go no where. Basically told us they can do what they want with any cruise. We weren't happy with the unfairness but that's what's in the cruise contract. All that to say, you may see some port fees returned to you onboard if you decide to stay on this cruise. We went to Puerta Plata on this cruise. It was our first time. The port is lovely and new but everything is VERY expensive so I wouldn't be too heartbroken over it.
  4. I'm cruising in 5 days and got sent a waiver for my daughter because we have different last names. My husband is also travelling with us in an adjoining room. Spent almost 2 hours on the phone to be told "I better fill out the waiver" to "no don't have to fill out the waiver". So even parents are getting the runaround. I told them I'm not paying to have a form notarized for my own daughter. Also, the form says it's not my child so they want me to fill out a form and essentially lie to a notary. I fully expect to have problems at the port. Luckily because I did not take my husbands last name when my children were born I ordered long form birth certificates showing the names of both parents. So fingers crossed. When I talked to Royal last month they said they had new procedures in place for children travelling without parents. No idea if this is true but I will say we are diamond and always book two rooms and we have never been asked to fill out this form. Unfortunately, as per usual, their customer service representatives never have definite answers.
  5. We are cruising this August out of NYC. We booked 15-16 months ahead when new itinerary was released. The price has always gone up. It has never dropped below what we paid. It shocks me what others paid to do this same cruise. Summer prices, in my experience never drop, they just get higher and higher until the boat is filled.
  6. That was the bizarre thing. I ordered drinks and had no problems. It doesn't really make sense but it happened LOL
  7. This is so true. A few cruises ago for some reason I was listed as a 10 year old. It took days into our cruise for Royal to figure out why no one could message me. In the end, my age and my son's age somehow got mixed up.
  8. Though the letter is well written, from someone with a legal background, I do think the letter would have had a bigger impact if it was reorganized. I hope Royal read it all. What you want as a resolution should be in the first paragraph and facts as to why you deserve that resolution will follow. I feel bad for this group. Sounds like a crappy situation. Royal's executive office no longer resolves issues like they used too. I suspect it's because their email is now well know and they are inundated by every little complaint. I was on the Liberty in September. We were supposed to go to Bahamas and ended up BACK in Canada. We found out when we had already left the house the day before. We decided to go because Royal can't control the weather. Our issue was we only got $100 on board credit. The same cruise two weeks before got 50% back as an onboard credit. Contacting Royal with proof what the other cruise got only resulted in multiple "so sorry too bad" emails from the exec office.
  9. We are a group of 12 that always cruise together. This August will be our 9th cruise together. We have always been able to request a table of 12 together and it's never been a problem. The past two cruises we weren't sat together (for whatever reason) but on the first day we always go and confirm where we are and speak to the staff if there are problems. They always say the can't fix it but if your are nice but adamant it will get fixed. Always by the second night. We used to use the app to communicate but it's so unreliable we now make sure at least one person in each family group has the internet. We do not do all meals together - just dinner. Trying to arrange every meal together just ends up being a pain and too much stress on vacation. Usually whoever eats breakfast first text messages where they are and the others can meet up if they like. Less structure seems to work best and makes you actually want to do things together because it's not forced.
  10. Interesting story - I did a Royal up bid for $50 over the minimum and didn't get it. Then the cruise go rerouted to Canada and around 40% of the ship cancelled. People at the pier were asking about upgrading to these empty rooms with their Royal Up bids. Everyone was denied.
  11. I sailed on Liberty in September. We were supposed to go to Bahamas. Instead we ended up in New Brunswick, Canada. I'm Canadian... So I drove to the US to sail back to Canada... It was cold... Feel better? LOL P.S. We still had fun!
  12. Another diamond question - sorry to hijack. We all become diamond on our next cruise. I always get my kids the refreshment package because the love the virgin drinks. Is it correct they'll also get 4 vouchers that can be used to towards shakes/virgin drinks?
  13. They cards people on all adult only events when we were on the Oasis in 2022 and 2023. I just assumed this was the new norm. We were on the Liberty in September but as that was a kid-less cruise I don't remember if they cards people.
  14. Also we had bid on an upgrade. It was denied a week before the cruises. Nothing was reinstated and we knew at 6pm the day before the cruise left that we were being rerouted.
  15. We were on Liberty on Sept 30 when it got rerouted to Canada instead of Bahamas (sucks considering I'm Canadian LOL). Half the people cancelled. We asked to pay for an upgrade when we got to the port and nope. Heard a ton of other people asked for the same and no one was able to upgrade rooms.
  16. We were just on her in September/October and she was great. Only thing missing is the coke free style machines.
  17. We are Emerald, 2 points away from Diamond, and when we were on the ship in October we got BOGO 50%. So two photos 25% off. NBeen getting that for years. Now you only getting 1 for 30%. Looks like we'll only be buying two pictures instead of 4. It's kind of insulting when you think about how much these pictures will cost Royal. Anyone know if the Diamond/Diamond+ 5 phones for $50 is still available? It was always one of those offers that my parents had to ask about because it's never listed anywhere for years now. They've always been able to get it by speaking to someone in the photo area, usually a manager/higher up.
  18. We always have at least two rooms book and move people around in rooms (kids, non-drinkers etc., and on the ship tv you can see all the charges from people originally booked in the room. Not on the app though, just the tv. We've also had different payment methods twice and both times there was issues, but maybe that is just bad luck on our part.
  19. Side note that doesn't have to do with points but bills. When you get onboard and swap rooms all you are really doing is getting additional keys to the other rooms. Your name will still be attached to the other room and anything your charge to your card and gratuities will be charged to the room you are booked in. Guest services cannot change this. All they can do it make it so you can see the charges from the other room. So the person in the room with you on the booking will be able to see all the charges you make and you will have to make arrangements with each other to pay/split the bill...
  20. It's still offered. it's free and will run twice during the cruise. It takes place in Studio B. You get 15 minutes. If you have young kids it is fun; older kids, maybe not so much. It won't show up on the planner until after you board because it runs around other shows. Last two times on Oasis it always ran in the evenings.
  21. We are a group of 11-13 depending on the cruise. We have this same problem. Because of this we always book cruises 1.5 years ahead so we can get early dining. It is too early but we have young kids in the group too. We've learned to like it though. Gives the younger kids a chance to go to the shows that start at 7. We usually just grab a pizza snack or something at the Windjammer before it closes if we are hungry before bed. We haven't had any luck trying to get a big table during My-Time unless its after 7pm. Too later for the little ones and the diabetics in the group. I'd keep your early dinner. Also, make sure you actually are the same table the day you board. The last 4 cruises we've went on we weren't. Even though we were all linked and reservation said table of 12. It's not fun having to deal with it the first night. They'll always say they can't move you all to a table but they can - they ALWAYS do if you speak up enough. We've never had to be angry, just nicely insistent LOL
  22. Just got off the Liberty and you'd be surprised how many times we found dishes in elevators...
  23. Your home is beautiful. Was just sitting in the Wind Jammer enjoying the view. It’s amazing how close to you the port is! Doing the Best of St Martin your at 10am. Really hoping to see the caves when the tide is out. Fingers crossed! I’m not sure what time we’ll be here as we have a few things to do on the tour.
  24. Currently on this cruise. Anyone speak to royal about the compensation? I’m not upset about the itinerary change. I understand the storm system and knew when I was booking the cruise this could happen. What I’m upset about is the solarium is completely closed. Hot tubs and pools and the heated pools are closed. I didn’t think the compensation was fair from the beginning but I’m determined to have a good time. That said, now with all the other closures $100 is not fair compensation. We’ve heard the cruise two or three weeks before got 50% and they had two new port stops. We only have one. I just personally think compensation should be even. Those cruises got better port stops (Maine and Nova Scotia) and more compensation. I don’t know if they lost pool/hot tub access. Again, I’m not upset about the change. That’s saying a lot considering I’m Canadian lol. I just want fair compensation.
