In case you are interested, this is what the vaccine record for New Brunswickers looks like. It is a full size 8.5x11 sheet. I went to the dollar store and bought us a plastic sleeve folder to store it in. Now we have to add these to the do not lose/damage or else stash. I did just find out from another NBer here on CC that we can also access a record online, but this original paper one is still the "official" record according to the government. I have heard some provinces did not even provide paper records so not sure how that will work for Royal’s policy.
Nova Scotia doesn't have an official paper document. When you get your shots, you are sent an email to click and you enter your health card number which takes you to CANImmunize and that shows your doses. I guess we would just print that for the cruise line.

This is only the 2nd time I have been tested. The 1st time was in November and I really only went because my son was going for a test and did not want to go alone. Hubby just got his first test today.
I am sailing on a B2B2B on the Odyssey starting on Sunday 8/22. I started my thread a little earlier than I probably should have 🤣. Here is the link:
B2B2B wowza!!! #dreams

Both tests are covered by the province - I assume you guys have all your testing covered too? Gotta love that good ole Canadian socialized medicine!
Oh I see, well that was thoughtful of them! Yes, NS encourages getting tested (PCR at that) at least once per week for free, no questions asked.
What ship are you sailing on? I might have missed that. You mentioned you have a live thread?

Thanks! We tested today at 2:20 and we have an appt in the morning at 8:20. Hopefully both are negative, and then we should be golden 🙂
Why are you getting two pre-cruise tests?

@JessyCruisesI am in Nova Scotia. I will look forward to reading how the travel and testing all plays out for you coming from the Maritimes! I'm jealous of you! lol

ParoDeeJay - Jay pumps out the vids so fast when they are ON vacation! They are so funny and real.
La Lido Loca - Tony breaks down information so well with all of the facts, doesn't present it one sided.
JJ Cruise - Very upbeat and excited all the time, yet not afraid to say what they dislike.

SO MANULIFE covers cover?
Yes Manulife covers Covid medical ONLY. It doesn't cover testing, quarantine or cancelation/interruption UNLESS the trip was originally 31 day or longer.

My understanding was we could do the cheaper test to get into the US and only need the PCR test to come back into Canada, which should be done by Royal.
Has Royal confirmed they do return PCR tests still?

My office building is on the Halifax waterfront right beside "the wave" structure. I miss walking down the boardwalk to the pier to see the ships.
That whole area is VERY busy when the mega ships are in.

I'm not sure what Canada's look like, but ours are simply a white heavy paper card. No way when thousands are going through an entrance to an event is anyone going to question if they are legit or not.
It may be easier to spot them for travel, but until we have something like a vaccine passport, it will be difficult to control here in the US.
In Nova Scotia, we don't have an official paper document. Ours are emails and then you go to the CANImmunize website/app, enter your health card number and your doses appear there. We were advised to print out a copy for files and keep the digital info stored as well.

Get out the Hazmat suits and sanitizing spray machine for all of the deck chairs and waterslides! Don't forget to drain the pool and scrub it down too LOL

I just sent an email to blue cross through my work account for clarification. I will post an update once I hear back. The only thing I could find on their website was the below link. It says it was last updated July 23, and the article on the PAX website says it changed on July 29, so maybe the website just hasn't been updated yet.

Manulife's Covid policy doesn't cover Covid for medical expenses for cruisers under the government's current travel advisory against cruising. Blue Cross is now covering medical expenses for Covid for cruisers, as a normal unexpected medical event regardless of vaccination status. But please check with them to confirm, as travel insurance is complicated right now.
Okay, that is what I wasn't sure about (bolded text).
-
I was thinking that if you wanted to be covered for covid, just buy a separate covid medical policy from manulife. My employer insurance is Blue Cross, so that would cover me for anything other than covid (as per usual), and if I bought a separate plan for covid medical (no cancelation, etc) that would be the best of both worlds. No insurance will be covering quarantine anyways.
-
Also RBC Insurance is selling cruise insurance again.
-
No, but companies were not selling ANY cruise insurance, covid-related or not.
This at least gives you coverage for heart attack, med air evac, etc again.
What we seem to be seeing now is vaccinated people aren't needing to go to the hospital. I know there are the odd time, yes, but they might have other medical issues that trigger the hospital visit.

Just read this that Blue Cross is resuming cruise insurance:

Isn't the CBC "owned" by the Liberals? LOL They paid for its existence, didn't they?
Oh, against the governments' (Fed and Provincial) messaging, I totally vaccine shopped for my second dose until I could land a second pfizer shot as I had a hunch the mix and match would have issues when it came to travel.

I was just asking that because people above were posting that we are in a Level 4 warning, but to me it didn't seem like that according to the Govt warning.

How do we know it is "Level 4"? The website just shows this:
Official Global Travel Advisories
- Avoid non-essential travel outside Canada until further notice
- Avoid all cruise ship travel outside Canada until further notice
Also, if vaccinated, the odds of needing to be medically evacuated (air lift) off the ship is low. I wonder if we could get "regular" insurance for the cruise portion in case of heart attack, etc, and then covid insurance for any of the land portions? None of the insurance companies cover the quarantine portions anyways, so that would be a moot point.

What about this paragraph:
The second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines should be administered as close to the recommended interval as possible, but not earlier than recommended (i.e., 3 weeks [Pfizer-BioNTech] or 1 month [Moderna]). However, individuals who receive the second dose up to 4 days before or at any time after the recommended date can be considered fully vaccinated.

I wonder if the 42 day between doses is still in the mix?? So a third shot would never meet that criteria???
There is way more to all this then meets the eye....................
I didn't think there was a timeline for match doses.
I know I have read the following from Royal's website policy, but that only applies to mixing and not sure if the CDC has the same on their website:
Royal Caribbean will accommodate guests who are vaccinated with mixed mRNA vaccines, such as 1 shot of Pfizer and 1 shot of Moderna. The doses must be separated by at least 28 days and not more than 42 days.
-
The issue is what will the US accept as vaccinated, which we all know by now it has to be matchy-matchy.
