  1. We did the combo tour through RCL just two weeks ago. We definitely did not have enough time at Mendenhall. I think the driver gave us 25 minutes. I asked about the limited time and she upped it to 35. Ugh If you want to see Nugget Falls, it's possible, but you can't do anything else in that time frame. If you have whale watched in warmer climates, this whale watching was a little disappointing. We also saw several sprays and flukes while we were cruising on our ship, so I'm not sure I would say the paying extra for the whale watching was worth it. That's just my opinion though. There were several people on our excursion who had never been whale watching who found it amazing.

  2. For other airlines is just said "after 2 PM" with no end time. I had friends flying Alaskan Air with a 6:30 flight, and they were able to participate. This was what Royal sent out. It might be different for other cruise lines even. I'm not sure.

  3. We stayed at the Sheraton Seattle. We took the light link rail from the airport to the Westlake stop. It dropped us off about a block from the hotel and cost $3 per person. Then on the day of the cruise we took a pre-cruise city tour that dropped us off at the port and included transportation back to the airport after the cruise. It was $75 per person and WELL worth it. The tour was amazing and considering transportation from the pier back to the airport alone is usually around $40, I thought it was a good deal.

  4. Before our cruise I read several comments about the Light Link Rail, so I thought I would share my experience. I thought it was a great option for us! We were staying at the Seattle Sheraton. It is a bit of a walk, but they have the little golf carts to take you to the ticketing stations if you need it. We paid $6 for the two of us. We got off at the Westlake stop. The only time it felt a little crowded was between Pioneer Square and Westlake which was only about 5 minutes. We had two large suitcases, and we each had a backpack. The Seattle Sheraton was about one block from where we exited. Super easy!

Our friends stayed closer to the Needle (at the Quality Inn). They had to take the light rail and then a monorail to get to their hotel, but they also said it was easy.

  5. Highlights: No service fee; no need to check in at airport; receive your boarding pass onboard; international and domestic flights accepted (only domestic on Delta); no overweight baggage fees.

Eligible Criteria: Must disembark between 7:45-9 (they let us go around 7:20); your flight must depart on the same day your ship arrives in Seattle AFTER 2PM; you have a confirmed reservation with one of these airlines: American, Alaska, Delta, Horizon, Jet Blue, Southwest

*****Southwest flights can be between 11AM-4PM only***********

  6. Hi! We are on your same cruise. We are heading to the airport today. I messed up my hip pretty badly on Tuesday, so I can now barely walk. Ugh! I am on the same excursions as you in AK so maybe we will meet! I'm also now worried about the amount of walking required in Juneau. We are doing Butchart Gardens in Victoria, but I looked online and saw that they have wheelchairs available to rent. I think I will do that there.

  7. I was very pleased with the VOOM on The Liberty. I texted sent pics to everyone. For me worth the money.

My Ring Doorbell also had access. I was able to watch my Petsitter let a stranger into my house while at sea.

    *** are you doing?

When I got home they were fired.

Did you try wi-fi calling at all? I'm nervous that I will try it and get home to a huge bill!

  8. We are sailing on Explorer in about 2 weeks. In Juneau I have booked the Whale Watching/Mendenhall Glacier combo tour through Royal Caribbean. As I'm reading reviews of the tour, most people are saying you do not have time to hike to Nugget Falls and back. I was really looking forward to this, and would be super disappointed if we didn't get to see it.

So, I have a few questions: First, is this true? We are willing to skip the Visitor's Center and just do the hike. We are mid 40s and in pretty good shape if that makes a difference. Second, if it is true, can we just stay longer and get our own transportation back to the ship? Third, what do you suggest for transportation options?

    Thanks!

  9. Won't work very well if you sail from Rome, Sydney, shanghai or a number of other places. You going to get an international plan for your cell?

Not all cruises leave/arrive in the same country.

Also, the RC IT folks can't even run a sales Web site and you want to go paperless?

Unless you can download it early and take a screenshot of it. That's what I always do with my airline boarding pass just in case the internet is sketchy at the airport.

  10. I seriously doubt they wouldn't include the gratuity in the price in the Cruise Planner and allow you to check out without getting their 18%. I'm pretty sure the person who spoke with RC is correct. It's included in that price. The way they are about adding on as many extras as possible, they wouldn't let that one slip by (giving people the opportunity to not tip or unknowingly not tip).
