  1. On my upcoming cruise, I thought I would wait until it got to $500pp. It never did. They sold out easily with $750pp the lowest they ever went. I got the first email a little more than 30 days out. It started with the cheapest cabin at 1000pp an went up from there. I called about 2x a week until about a week out. Then the rep told me to call every morning. It never went down to 500pp which was my max, so we passed.

  2. I called NCL and I was told that the drill will take place at 5:00 and for those who have not boarded the ship by 5:00 will have to attend a makeup session the next morning. This makes total sense as all the restaurants start to open at 5:30.

We're on the May 14th sailing which will be the second week of the 7:00 departure and we can't wait!!!

I hope this isn't true. We have 5:15 reservations at Teppanyaki.

  3. Hi everyone,

Few questions regarding the H5 category on the Escape. I see that the description says that it has a sofa bed, but looking at pictures I can't seem to see where it is. It looks like there's a chair in the room, is that the soda bed? Does anyone have a picture of it?

Also, we're going to be traveling with our inlaws and they are not staying in The Haven area. Will they be able to come into the Haven area throughout the day, or even to hang out in our room?

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, the chair is a single sofa bed.

  4. I was having the same problem last night with not being able to book a room for 3 people, and I even called the agents and she said she could not book anything for 3 people for the May 21, 2016 sailing on the Escape and then she checked the Getaway for the same time and said that was full too. She proceeded to offer to book me two rooms, I said no thanks.

I got up this morning and tried the booking again and guess what, I was able to get my balcony room for three people. I did get to choose to the UBP and the internet minutes, and received $100 on board credit. They showed the four categories in balcony rooms, and you choose a category but still says guaranteed room when you check out. Not sure why but I was just glad I was able to book this cruise. :)

I tried again this morning, and it would allow a booking for 3, but still not 4. :( You should join our roll call if you are on the 5-21 Escape sailing. See you there!

  5. The sales agent at NCL thought it was probably a capacity issue, which is surprising because several of the sailings are 60+ days out. But with the 3rd & 4th sail free (which is why we're looking as well!) he thinks they probably just booked a lot of 3rd & 4th pax. So there ARE rooms available that hold 4, but they won't let us book 4 in that particular cabin.

Just saw your response here. I have a hard time believing this considering my sailing is not a prime time sailing. I know they were bursting at the seams over Spring Break. Maybe it's a way to avoid honoring the 3rd/4th passenger free deal. They promote it, but then you can't actually book it. :)

  6. Just curious, why use points for obc rather than taking a statement credit?

For me personally, if I take it as a statement credit, it would go toward something super boring like groceries or gas because I'm so frugal. If it's OBC, I will be "forced" to splurge and spend it all. :)

  7. You would get 10,000 points (which equals $100 OBC) right away. Then if you use the card to pay for the cruise, it will give you double points. So, if you are booking a $2000 cruise, you will get 4000 points. Points can be traded for OBC in increments of 5000 ($50). If you got the card, bought the cruise on it, and spent an extra 1000 on other items, you could end up with $150 OBC to spend on your cruise.

  8. Different things are important to different people. I don't really care about food, for instance. As long as I'm not cooking it, I'm happy. I don't want to lie in the sun for hours, so if I didn't get a chair by the pool, it wouldn't ruin my trip.

However, I'm not really into cruising. I am just using the cruise ship as a cheaper way to see certain ports, so if I missed one of the ports, I would be terribly disappointed (unless it was Nassau ;)).

  9. My son enjoys getting in hot tubs -especially if the pool is cold. However, I tell him if he's in the hot tub, it's not a pool. He has to act like an adult when he's in there and basically just sit there. Even though I have a kid it bothers me when kids are in there splashing all around and "swimming". On that note, it surprises me when people get mad that kids are splashing and swimming in the pool. If you are going to sit by the edge of the pool, don't be too upset if you get splashed every once in a while.
