Pricing Details
Item Guest 1 Guest 2 Guest 3 Guest 4
Cruise Fare $879.00 $879.00 $849.50 $849.50
Gov't Taxes,

So if we were to believe NCL the price for pax 1 and 2 are $879 and the prices for the 3rd and 4th if the sale wasn't on would be $1699 each before taxes and fees.
...

Were you to investigate a wee bit further, you'd discover that if you were to view the same sailing and for a Deluxe Owners' Suite, you'd see this:
Item Guest 1 Guest 2 Guest 3 Guest 4
Cruise Fare $5,409.00 $5,409.00 $849.50 $849.50
Gov't Taxes,
Fees & Port
Expenses $153.04 $153.04 $153.04 $153.04
Total per Guest $5,562.04 $5,562.04 $1,002.54 $1,002.54
Since you've chosen a sailing date that is not only in Prime Season, but also VERY close to sailing date and likely now booked to near capacity, it's no wonder the Brochure Rate for guests 3 & 4 is a bit high. Heaven knows I've seen higher many times.
What you need to understand is that the 3/4th guest Brochure Rate is the same for all cabin categories - and is in no way based upon the full fare for guests 1 and 2 in any category. This rate is based on current capacity, demand and several other factors. If the ship is nearing capacity Norwegian would likely far prefer to have you book two inside cabins, as opposed to one - thereby allowing them to perhaps sell that DOS for 4 - rather than run the risk of having to discount it because there's no capacity remaining for extra guests in any category. Clearly the pricing is set to encourage you to book two cabins - which is actually in your favor, as you'd end up with twice the OBC. ;)

The metal dividers on the balcony can only be opened when the ship is in port.
Your Steward can open it for you, but I'm not sure it's really worth all the extra work, since it's likely you'll not be using your balcony much while in port.
All dividers must be closed when the ship is underway.

anyone have phone # for cas?

so the Breakaway stop at the Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas arrives at 10am and departs at 6pm.
Does "Due to security reasons, all guests must be on board 2 hours before sailing" mean I have to be on board by 4pm?
thus making the Great Stirrup Cay stop only 6hrs?
That verbiage refers ONLY to your Port of Embarkation, not to your Ports of Call.
For port stops, you will need to be onboard 30 minutes prior to the published sail away time, and there will be information in the Freestyle Daily, as well as signs at the gangway exits giving you the exact "All Aboard" time.
You'll have plenty of time in each of your ports of call. :)

That is shocking, actually. That's it? For real? Wow...

I am hoping beyond hope that this is all a huge mistake. What kind of logic prompts a cruise line to limit the variety of cocktails to 10? They've spent years crafting all the different martinis, mojitos, margaritas and more - in addition to the countless standards. Cocktail consumption is a huge money maker for cruise lines, so to limit the variety in this way is completely counter-intuitive. With or without the UBP, if theres no variety, there are no customers at the bar.
If they're looking to increase profits, this is a bizarre direction to follow.

Ha! Sometimes that extra dollar can save you lots of walking and a waiter always 'watching' when you need a drink!
Harriet
Indeed it can. ;)

Given the angst and near-hysteria created by the $.95 per day increase in service charge, I'd be surprised if trying to raise the revenue $4 per day by increasing drink prices doesn't lead to threat of mass suicide by a large contingent of Cruise Critic posters.
I'm waiting for the first post claiming that NCL can't do this if you've booked your cruise before March 1...that the price of drinks is locked in by contract on the day you booked...
So now they're into your pockets for an additional $35 per week between the service charge and drinks.
No one likes to pay higher prices, but someone please, please tell me with a straight face that they wouldn't have booked their cruise if the fare had been $35 higher for a week's cruise on the day you booked.
Agree on all counts!

Happy to help!

Possibly one part of the getting an extra $50 per couple that was mentioned in the Del Rio interview.
That was my thought, exactly. Doing the math at $4 pp/pd = $28 pp/pw = $54 per couple per week, average.
Personally I've always thought the drink prices were very reasonable, considering I've spent more than double the cost for the same cocktails in most major tourist areas. I really don't personally have any issue with them increasing the price of beverages this way. Just my personal opinion, but surely there will be many who will lose their minds over it. :roll eyes:

For whatever reason I did not recive a conformation email.
I looked thru my e-docs and do not see the charges aanywhere.
Interesting. Did you book direct with CAS, or perhaps was your booking done through a land-based casino or Junket service?
If you booked direct with CAS, simply call them and ask that they send you a Reservation Confirmation. If you booked elsewhere, reach out to them for the info.
Your e-docs will never contain that info - those are merely for boarding purposes.
Hope that helps!

Great, thanks for your quick response, just booked the Getaway for November 2015, and I'm super excited!
I absolutely fell in love with this ship, and I hope you have the time of your life onboard! Enjoy every single moment!!! :D

I took it as the drink package will increase $4 more per day is it the package or each drink price? I can't see them elevating each drink by $4 more.
The article makes no mention of the Ultimate Beverage Package. It simply states that Norwegian is looking to try and receive an average of $4 in additional revenue per guest per day, and is implementing a small percentage increase to the price of individual beverages, in an effort to accomplish that goal.

If you are in an Owners Suite; Haven or Garden you should be getting some
of those bottles complimentary. I believe it is 3 bottles for an OS and 6 for
the Haven or Garden.
For everyone else buying the Bar-Set-Up can get to be terribly costly better
to do the UBP if offered available.
This post is quite misleading. The correct info is...
Garden Villas receive 6 bottles of alcohol plus mixers
Owner's Suites and Deluxe Owner's suites each receive 3 bottles plus mixers
The term "Haven" refers to the Haven Complex, and to those suites which qualify for access to the Haven Complex - in other words, any accommodation starting with the letter "H." This is important is because although some ships don't have Havens, they still have the accommodations listed above - all of which receive this alcohol perk.
There are MANY Haven Suites which receive no alcohol perks at all.
Hopefully that helps!

There's no pool. There is a large water feature on the port side, where you can sit with just your feet in the water, or sit under a waterfall, or simply enjoy a misting spray. Very nice.

Your Reservation Confirmation email contains and attachment with all this info. ;)

I would welcome varied itineraries of different lengths. I don't think he's talking about eliminating 7 day cruises, I think he just wants to offer more options.
That's how I read it as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we see some innovative and exciting new itineraries. :)

Yes. Start here: http://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship
Click on the ship you will be sailing.
Then click on "What's Onboard"
Then click on "Specialty Dining"
Then click on "Learn More"
That will show the full list of all specialty options on that particular ship, provide descriptions, and show pricing.
Hope that helps!

I have to agree that the behavior we witnessed was disgraceful. The Haven Complex became a circus, and the crew were pushed to the last limit of their patience.
In the Haven Restaurant children were running full speed through the dining room, knocking into other guests and their tables, throwing food, dropping food all over the floor and generally creating an atmosphere that was nowhere near enjoyable. I watched the faces of the staff grow more grim by the day, as there was literally nothing they could do.
In the courtyard area, it was a three-ring circus with children monopolizing the pool and both hot tubs day and night. My son and daughter-in-law attempted to use one of the hot tubs and lasted less than 5 minutes before fleeing the area. While they were in the tub two of these kids cannonballed into it simply to see what my son and DIL would do about it. They politely asked them not to jump into the tub at which point one of the kids belly-laughed and said "Oh yeah? What are you gonna do about it?" After a few minutes of pondering whether it was worth fussing over it, my son decided it was best to just shut his mouth and leave.
On two separate nights, a small band of these kids went through the ship turning notification wheels to "Do Not Disturb" the first time, and then to "Make up Cabin" the second time. The first time, it was one entire deck of the ship, and the poor cabin stewards were left with the unpleasant dilemma of literally waiting in the halls until guests either came out of their cabins, or returned to them, in order to know whether or not the DND was legitimate or a prank. They lost plenty of their own free time that day.
Elevators, hallways and all public spaces around the ship became racetracks and playgrounds for these unruly kids, and as the week went on it just got worse. I've never witnessed anything like it before, and I hope I never do again.
Although we enjoyed our cruise immensely and chose to ignore these behaviors as much as possible, we felt awful for the crew who had no choice but to handle whatever was thrown their way. They demonstrated remarkable patience and somehow managed to remain dignified despite being treated like indentured servants, being spoken down to and yelled at publicly. I can only imagine they were counting down the days until that voyage ended.

It is available right now http://www.ncl.com/promo/all-inclusive . But it isn't a promo (at least not what I consider a promo), it is a package that you purchase. For instance, book a 7 day cruise and purchase the all in package at an additional 800 bucks a person and you get all that you mention.
This Promo is NOT available right now, despite what that link may APPEAR to offer. Scroll down and click on the Terms and Conditions where you'll find this:
Terms and Conditions
ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE OFFER
Booking Window: 8/4/14- 9/30/14 11.59pm EST
Further, if you use the tab within that link, to "View Sailings" and then try to use the promo code, you'll receive this message:
Promo code not valid on selected sail date and/or stateroom type.
Unfortunately that link keeps cropping up here, making people think the promo is still valid. It's not been valid since last September.
Hope that helps clear up any confusion. :)

I recall there being a poster on here a while ago who spent the entire time before their cruise finding reasons why they weren't going to like it, to the extent that a number of us predicted beforehand what the result would be. Is this the same person?
It is.

Some of you people really don't get it...
With all due respect, many on this board are very likely thinking the same thing... about you. Example of why...
sure I hated the Breakway it was my most hated ship but I was with family and THAT IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT! Same with I booking the Getaway, I will hate the ship but I AM WITH FAMILYMany are left wondering: If being with family is the most important thing, and if you've already clearly stated your sincere dislike for the product, why are you persisting in demanding that others here somehow make you feel better about choosing to sail on a ship we all know you're going to hate? You're right... we don't get it. ;)
Why are people rude here (you know who you are), ...Once again with all due respect, some of us are feeling that perhaps it is you who are being rude. For instance...
For those who have difficult understanding this I say it in baby way for you....Personally, I hope you have a fabulous time onboard the Getaway and come back with a glowing review. However, I'm not holding my breath.

You would need to either purchase a pass, or book a Spa category accommodation.
Prepayment of DSC still down on website at old rate
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
If you booked your sailing prior to the announcement of the increase, yours will continue to show the old rate. If you choose to use the pre-payment option you will indeed pay the old rate. However, if you fail to pre-pay, and allow the charge to be placed while onboard, you will pay the new rate.
Guests who've booked after the rate increase will show the new rate in their MyNCL account.
