I've recently lost most of my hearing. I can hear somewhat with hearing aids, but not at all once I take them out.
My concern is not hearing if there is an emergency.
How do others handle this? Do I notify them at the front desk?
I actually had a flood about 2 years ago and the woke me coming into my room in middle of night- embarrassing for all of us (they knocked but I didn't hear them- that's how I first realized how bad my hearing was)
any suggestions? Also since I'm fairly new at this any suggestions for air travel (my last flight they moved the gate and I didn't hear the announcement- lucky I didn't miss flight)

I have sailed on the Coral several times and she is also my favorite ship (Alaska, Panama Canal) and am doing Antarctica on her in January. I love the forward viewing decks (I think deck 10- especially for Panama Canal)

I've done this several times, it is well worth the Price. I have always signed up at the front desk, usually when you first get on the ship dinning room staff and dine line are busy.
They will notify you of the date in advance.

I work in a hospital, and we have to work under the same guidelines.
Actually service miniature horses are allowed. (and service dogs)
We have the right (and we have) to ask people with dirty dogs (mange even) and aggressive dogs to leave (we recently had a "service dog bite a nurse)
Unfortunately for a cruise line, they are in the service industry and don't want to anger people by kicking them or their animals off.
Eventually something will happen.

Aside from whether or not an 'emotional support' animal should be allowed on a cruise and, might I point out, there is no question in my mind that a true service animal should not even be questioned, the fact that it was mentioned that the owner of this animal threatened another passenger should be grounds enough to ban her from cruising on that line. This is the part I find most disturbing, although, if she was truly accosted by that other passenger, my question would be, 'did he speak to her aggressively or did he grab her'? If it escalated to a physical confrontation, they should both be banned. If he just said something to the effect of 'why the heck did you bring that dog with you?', well, that's another story. Any true service animal should not threaten the well being of another passenger and nobody should have the right to say they will 'turn their dog loose' on another passenger.
Happy cruising everybody!!

Two more weeks and we set sail on the Coral Panama Canal cruise. This is a bucket list cruise for my hubby. First time on the Coral. I wanted to add a countdown clock, but couldn’t figure out how. We need to get the luggage out. Definitely we need to slim down on our packing since we will fly back. I’ve been told it’s humid so our summer clothes shouldn’t take up too much space. I’m excited, but nervous leaving my dogs for 16 days. My son lives at home so he will watch them. However they won’t get their daily two mile walk. He said he will walk them a few times and my daughter will come for a week. They just may be a bit chunkier when we return!
you will have a wonderful trip, I did this 2 years ago on the Coral (3rd Panama Canal trip) and loved every second.

The book about Shackleton Antarctica's exploration will be a good premier for the hazards and experiences in that area at that time. It helped to make me appreciate even more my comfortable cruise during the time I was in Antarctic waters.
Prime Rib and Happy Hour was not available to Shackleton and his crew.
I'm reading it (Endurance) right now in preparation for trip in January and no I don't think they had any luxuries....I will enjoy mine. Especially a warm cabin and soft bed at end of day

I'm distressed to hear this, if one person has a problem, I'm sure several others do as well
I hope Princess fixes this problem
to the OP- I would be very upset as well

I was just on the Royal and there was no Walk For The Cure. We have been on 12 other Princess Cruises & this is the first time there was no walk.....and October is Breast Cancer month. Had Princess eliminated this charitable event?
I was on Sapphire in September and they did not do it either.

I get this. I really do. And I see this purists response pretty often on these boards. And that’s okay.
However I find it fascinating that no one considers a visit to Glacier Bay National Park during an Alaskan cruise to be a “drive by” even though most know you can opt to kayak or take small boats into the park from the tiny nearby town of Gustavus and camp or otherwise go ashore. In this case it isn’t a requirement that one tramps ashore and further impacts wildlife or the land environment in some way before being the visit can be considered legitimate?
Same for the fjords of Norway or New Zealand. Believe me I’ve asked many times not once did someone refer to those destinations in that way. Lol.
Oh and anyone who has cruised down the Nile knows it’s simply an amazing experience and doesn’t require that you wad into the waters from the river bank to qualify as having been there although most of the boats do stop 2-3 places between Luxor and Aswan for temple site visits.
Just food for thought.
I agree- see you in January

Hi lois1112, you say that Princess gave you a time to leave the ship. Did you feel that they held you back so their tours could go first?
Princess tour go first, however the tour companies are aware and plan the tours accordingly.we were in port about 8am and were off ship at 0900. the second day was not a problem at all

Look for Freedom Trail tours on https://www.thefreedomtrail.org/daily-tour-schedule
If you take the Silver Line/Red Line (suggested), transfer at South Station to Red Line Direction Alewife.
thank you

Not me.
I like my covered promenade, especially after dinner. I would expect the track to be damp at night.
I agree , one of the reasons I cruise is to be out in nature and enjoy the ocean. I don't do the shows at all. Thankfully the cruise I'm going on has lots of ports (7 day cruise and 6 ports) The Sky (and similar ship) would be and was my last choice.

On the Royal/Regal there’s a line on the track dividing it into Run and Walk.
thank you that makes me feel somewhat better

I'm doing a round trip cruise out of NY and I'd love to go to Cooperstown before or after the cruise
any suggestions?

You won't find folks hawking tours at the dock. As said, booking yourself is very easy, but you will want to do that in advance and have a plan as to how to get from the ship to your tour's start. Public transit is strong, and of course you can taxi or uber to get to places.
any suggestions............I'm a walker and would love a tour of the freedom trail--I'd prefer not to do the ships tours

Just booked a cruise on the Sky for 2021, but I'm very Leary of the no promenade deck
looks like she has a "jogging track" but I don't see a place to walk

We will be on the Sapphire Princess out of Southampton during the MLB playoffs.
Has anyone had experience with them broadcasting the games---or finding them on the On Demand later (since the time difference might mess with that).
TIA
I just got off the Sapphire (Baltic's) and no MLB games were on. and I got up at 2am (which would have been game time Los Angeles.) to watch several ti;mes. On the plus side my MLB at bad app worked, so I was able to get scores etc.
I have been on ships where they show NFL playoffs - so maybe, but I think its unlikely

Thank you.............other than not hearing, I don't need a handicapped room (and I have to have a balcony)
I guess I'll just let them know at the desk.
