1. Does anyone else increase their vitamin/essential oil intake before a cruise?

I use essential oils daily, but 2 weeks pre-cruise i amp it up with this...

I take a daily pill of oregano, peppermint, thieves, and frankincense, plus a daily dose of airborne.

6 cruises and haven't been sick yet by doing this.

just wondering if anyone else does something like this to ward off the additional potential germs they may come into contact with.

Nope, I bring all of my herbal supplements, oils, and vitamins with me in a 7 day, day and night pillbox. I just pop when I wake up every morning and I'm ready 2 go.

  2. Nope, it's $3.99 in advance (I checked because I have been planning to order it for my next cruise!) :(

I had been waiting to buy it onboard for our summer cruise since its been $2.99 on board for a while now. Did the case price go up for on board as well?

If paying a dollar more for a 12-pack of water is going to put you in a financial bind, there is a solution. Go to Guest Services and have your auto-gratuities reduced by $1.00.

Please dont recommend this, enough people remove grats enough as it is. I'm sure they dont need anymore ideas!!

  3. UBER for the win! We took it from Fort Lauderdale (area, not airport) for our cruise in November and it was $37 for 2 of us and we had about 4 pieces of luggage. Straight there and it was easy peasy. Called one as soon as we got out the port and took it right back with no worries. Will be doing it again and again!

  4. One thing that hasnt been said about AT dining, especially if its your first cruise, depending on when you show up you may miss the dinner "show." Some hate it, but I love it and it never gets old. And since this is your first you may miss it some nights.

  5. Dream has far superior shows in the main theater, the best entertainment in the whole fleet, while I felt that Breeze's shows were not very good. Breeze's shows have no live music, half the performers, no props, & are half the duration. Dream's shows are twice the length of Breeze's, use props, double (or more) the performers, & they do have live music. Dream will have more late evening food options. Dream has a bigger comedy club, more overall public space, & fewer guests. (That confuses some people, because they are sister ships, but some space did indeed get taken away from Magic & Breeze.) Dream's serenity area is larger (that's where more staterooms went on Magic/Breeze.) Dream has 2 extra hot tubs on deck 11, above the main pool, that Breeze/Magic don't have. Dream has non-slippery floors around the lido buffet area. With Dream's staterooms, you don't have to put a card in the slot to keep the lights on.

Breeze will have the newest branded food places: Guys & Blue Iguana Cantina, with limited hours. Breeze also has an extra-pay Italian restaurant for dinner (Dream only has the free lunch option). Breeze has a dump bucket around their waterpark (Dream has 2 extra small waterslides instead). Breeze has a ropes course. Breeze has the 3D theater, at an extra cost, which for me helped make up for the lack of good nighttime entertainment. Breeze has the Red Frog Pub on deck 5.

Don't be fooled by the term "2.0". Dream does actually have some of 2.0, but the numbers don't really matter. All that really matters is what the ship actually has. It doesn't matter what number is associated with the thing. Some 1.0 & 0.0 things are better than the 2.0 things.

For my tastes, Dream is by far my favorite ship. Breeze is still great, falling somewhere in the middle of the pack (if I were to rank the ships I've been on). If Breeze kept the same style of shows as Dream, then I would rank the Breeze higher.

Thanks so much for this very thorough and positive comparison. :D

  6. You get harassed on a regular basis?? I am not sure I understand....

People you know give you hard time about your life? Or strangers

come up and harass you? If it is people you know? I would say

they are not your friends......if they are strangers? Have you called

    the Police about this?

LMAO! I meant by men coming on to me... lol.

  7. We will be making a specific request for it.

Holey cow, I didnt know it was possible to request it?! Last summer on the Breeze me and my family waited with baited breath for it to be served and ate in the MDR every single night of our 7 day cruise and not one day was it offered. Even asked the servers and they said its not always on the menu.

I hope it has been changed to be a staple dessert, cause I am not a fan of WCMC... I'm sailing in a few months and hoping to have it once again!

  8. Hi:)....I hope you don't mind if I chime in......

I cannot tell you how to feel or not feel but I can try and ease your mind.

I have been cruising solo since May 2003......this year is 13 years.

I would like to say (this is my honest opinion) that truely, most folks

are so busy with themselves and what they are doing on the cruise that

they really don't care if someone else is going on their own. Sure, you

may get the person who thinks you "are brave"....I am 57 and sometimes

I still get that line.....I tell them, I love to travel and staying home is

not an option for me anymore....just because I go on my own? It makes

it all the better.....I do what I want, when I want......:D....not having

a travel partner? That is not necessary for me to have a great time.

I have never felt the need to lie about my cruising solo.....and look at

it this way...if someone has an issue with it....it is their problem, not

yours........(unless you make it yours). But truely......cruising solo

is my choice and I love it:D

I am taking my first River Cruise out of Amsterdam in April and cannot

wait!......going solo of course:D (this is after 40+ Ocean Cruises)

I hope this helps you a little bit at least.......:)

Thank Lois, I am looking forward to the alone time. I will most likely play it by ear on what I do share based on the vibe.

Carted away somewhere as in kidnapped? Or as in you're crazy?! I don't even consider the crazy part. I did consider bad things happening. I figure I just need to make sure that in port I do not go off alone. I scheduled a Carnival excursion for a little extra peace of mind. On ship, I still need to keep my wits about me and be aware of my surroundings. That's pretty easy for me to do.

Yeah as in kidnapped. I get harassed in public on a regular basis even when with friends so being on my own brings all sorts of fears out. I will be scheduling a Carnival excursion for at least one port day.

  9. Also, maybe it's not a big deal, but be prepared to be asked if you are sailing alone. Tell your story, or not, but don't be taken aback. Usually people don't mean anything bad about it. Especially the crew. They're just trying to get to know you too.

I don't know why some people are offended when the hostess says, "Just one?"

THIS is what I'm scared of! Going on my first solo in a few months and I am terrified that I'll tell the wrong person I'm solo and be carted away somewhere... I've been grappling with the idea of just lying and telling people my spouse is stuck in the room sick or something. At least to quell my own anxiety.

  10. Wooohooo. Can't wait to watch Creed again plus some of the others

And Straight Outta Compton at a midnight showings gonna be awesome

    Excellent movie, acting n story

I didnt know theres a midnight movie... WOW! And I havent seen Straight Outta Compton yet, so I'll be there, popcorn (pizza) in hand!

    Thanks!

  11. There are hundreds of people who use the cruise ship shuttles, so, no, there isn't just one.

But with you wanting to stay on the ship later, why don't you just get a cab?? Simple. $36+++ for 2 people. I'm certain the Carnival shuttle is more.

I'm cruising solo and it appears that is a flat $79 fee to/from MSY airport in new Orleans. So in that case the $24 carnival shuttle would be cheaper. Even Uber says they adhere to the flat rate as well.

  12.
Since ships don't usually sail until late afternoon and, as far as I know, they rarely sail late because of checking in and boarding all the passengers, I don't quite understand why "more" personnel is needed just because some passengers think that everyone should be checked in and ready to go by first boarding. I think that is an unwarranted expense that would just get passed on as higher cruise prices. Am I missing something.
Awesome point...
  13. It is staggered check in. If you arrive too early you can't even go through security and sit to wait your turn, they simply leave you out on the sidewalk. If you get stuck with a 2:30PM check in time and have to leave your hotel by 11AM, too bad; no A/C, no bathrooms, and certainly no lunch for you.

Carnival should have simply had more check in agents but decided to cut costs and make this a guest problem. Everyone cheers Carnival when they get a 10:30AM slot, but let's see how it goes when they get a 2:30PM slot.

Thanks for clarifying... I got a 10am check in time, so I guess that means I'll get a good seat to people watch until its time to board. :D
